Day 22: Adding Video to Your Portrait Sessions
We've talked a little bit already about adding video to your portrait sessions, but I'm going to show you another session that we specifically have, you know, when when this client booked this session, we said, this is the one that we want to show for creative live, and so we videoed it, but it's, it was one of those sessions that it did kind of fall apart. We had crazy kids, and it was not going like it was supposed to go, but it's okay? And in the end of it, it was finding out, okay, what is george into right now and that's a little boy and, you know, fishing behind their houses upon and dad so let's, go get the fishing poles and you're going to see this at the very end, and we finally just let him do his thing and that's what they ended up with, and they have actually purchased the first wall mural that I've sold for their playroom, and they're going to be the walk clings like this from a c I am going to cover a whole wall, so I'm super excited I haven't even ordered yet haven't see...
n it yet, but I'm hoping that we can show it to guys on day thirty one at the end, but it was mentioned before you will see the whole video, I'm gonna kind of move through it for time's sake, you'll see the whole video when you purchased the course. I'm also including contact sheets of what I actually showed the client. So you'll see the session and all the, you know, the thumbnails of all the images that we ended up showing. So here is a video of this session and then we'll show you that final video product as well. So we started in the client's home and you can see little georgie is not not wanting to cooperate. Also in shooting in the client's home I am I'm looking for angles of this client is the one that you saw the consultation with yesterday they're moving so their houses staged right now everything is off the walls, everything that is off the shelves, which breaks my heart because my images were everywhere. But you know, of course they're stager their realtor state or told him to get rid of everything which is fine for me. If I was shooting there, I would have taken it off the shelves anyway and so interesting that it's not there, you know, for this but that's, why it's not there and why you don't see me moving it, I didn't meet move a few things back that we're just sitting on top of those shelves and there was a table beside the couch where lucy was sitting so we moved a few things I'm gonna move through this just a little bit and you will see that this right here is and there's no safety shooting video again but you could see you know george is doing his thing and we still got some shots here and their shots that they're gonna love because I told him that they would you know, this is just who he is. I mean look at him he's all over the place mom and dad are getting frustrated let's waken have some sound on this is he watching? Maybe say cheese lecesne eagle in a little bit look at lucy she's being perfect good good job oh oh here it comes he's going to get you and finally we get him teo find levi get him to smile lucy told me this dog he didn't have a name. Ha ha huh? So catching all those little in between moments you know, we've you know, everyone smile he's gonna look up at me and I'm gonna photograph it and I'm gonna tell mom I love his fingers in his mouth I mean, you got to say it because if you don't she's gonna look at it and she's going to say, oh my god she's got a swingers in his mouth in every picture so I got to tell her I love his fingers in his mouth that's so cute right when it's happening now they both have their little snug please so we didn't spend a whole lot of time in here but um we're going to move outside but we wanted to do that one and this is all natural light we're just shooting of course they have great windows in here I can't wait to see their new house us but just shooting inside and you know, with our cameras especially that five d mark three I mean sure, you can shoot it in the I s o you want have amazing images so this is out in the backyard and george was doing his thing so we were photographed mom and lucy just a little bit on then george he came over and here we are and he's gone again crazy george crazy and I think it but at this time they were giving them candy and you know and he's gone and he's back so you know sessions are not perfect they're not always perfect but you know and then let's get him in one spot get him on dad's shoulders so we've got some fun moments there with dad and george and, you know, just capturing that, you know, even on video I did get some stills of it what you'll see in our little final product but you know, getting that on video is just priceless for the client's those little moments, I would never photographed this, but, you know, stacy's videoing it and that's awesome. This is happening, you know, right. They're on their property, and soon they're not gonna have this property anymore. So what a great memory. So we'll get through their stacy ended up putting them in the hammock. I did not shoot them in the hammock cause I don't like the spot with the light, but it's great for the client for video. And then they also had a plan for all of my guards, and that is about right. Although lucie was not so, you know, into being photographed when she was little either so he'll kill have his day. So fine. A little moments with mom and dad, georgie on the bench and then we ended up. I must go through this a little faster. We ended up on here with the fishing poles finally it's like, ok, how do we get him in one spot? Doesn't doing something fun there he is and that's how we'll end that video product for them. And of course, that is what they chose for this huge thing that they're doing is a photo from there. And we'll do lots of other fun things that we that we put him on the swings at the end just for fun and we got some really cute stuff of them they're so you'll get to see that and I'm just going to go right to that here we g o a little family moments there now we can play some music and you know, those still images or not you know they're not posed family moments they're just family being family and they're gonna like those two does mom like a little frustrated and I love I love this family and I love these kids and there we go we've got a still image his fingers in his mouth mom doesn't care because I told her it was cute and it is it is pretty cute but it's beautiful the's air the video moments that we love and the parents will love tio sugar much true and when you love to have this of your kids and you know it's it's pretty priceless when it's all done go on and I'm gonna move through this because I know where already running out of time with the segment but there there were just letting him play and do their thing and you kind of saw the you know, me shooting this capture of this but you know, just catching those that one little second you know, there's an image, you know that dad's gonna love george is gonna love when he gets older. You know, I'm just having fun and course, mama, dad alone every every time. And then stacy actually staged this just for video, but I saw some keep moment, so I shot it. Tio, this is just video. This is just video, but such fun little memories for mom and dad. Oh, yeah, I love ah, I'm gonna back up because I love that on and that's gonna be a fun still image, maybe for the back of their card and everything you're seeing has been shot in the last week or two. So everybody's preparing for their christmas cards and christmas gifts. And I love this on video for them. Pretty sweet. I've actually I'm pretty close to have cell have been selling them a ah video christmas card, so I'm excited about that. That will be something that's brand new for us, and we'll just incorporate some, you know, little clips from this probably like thirty seconds worth of a video christmas card, and there they are, fishing and it's one of these images of all four of them just looking in the water at the end that they chose for their wall mural and then cute on the swing. We end it with lucy on the swing, and we've got some cute stuff for her. Look at that, I would love to have that in my daughter's playroom, you know, at that age, it's, just fun, ok, so even with those crazy, crazy sessions, you know, how you need is all you need, and I think sometimes we get so worked up about every little thing not going writer, you know, what? If we what if we didn't get this or what if we didn't get that? But if you know what you're shooting for, there's, only so much you have tio tio have and so kind of having a direction, and I love the video products for our clients because it does show those real life moments and that's kind of how we sell it is, you know, we want to tell the story of your family in motion and images, and so it's really isn't easy sell, and I kind of feel like it's the direction that we're going with our digital world, and we've got to keep evolving and being able teo offer new products to our clients to really stay different and unique, and I'm always always like, sure, I'll never say always never say never never say always, I used to say, I will never sell a digital file I'm over it times have changed, but I feel right now, like I'll always be about the wall portrait on the wall groupings because I do feel like it's so so valuable for our clients, but these extra ad on products that are there really actually ensuring that we're going to be making the sale that we want to make because, you know, we're selling it as an investment in the beginning with it, we're selling it as a twenty five hundred dollars session, but with that they get a thousand dollars and world while portrait credit and a thousand dollars an album or image box credit, so they're still going towards what I want them to have but it's just ensuring in the beginning instead of placing like a minimum and saying, well, if you do the video session, you have to spend a minute, a minimum of twenty five hundred dollars, I'm just making it and calling it the session fee and without giving them that negative, which, psychologically a minimum is a negative, that something that we need to get teo, instead of saying you've got this much towards your album and this much towards your wall portrait, and then they get excited about, you know, they've got that much to spend, and then they can go over and above, so I love this this product and adding video is super fun and I'm just going to go through a couple little ideas here we want to make sure that we're asking story starter questions when we're shooting the video what are the kids into what's what's new for you guys what's special about your relationship and your workbook you've got several of those questions there for you but just ideas and you'll think of many more if this is a product that you're excited about and even if you're shooting at all on your own you khun take just little video snippets and still do your session just like you normally would and then john just stop and say you know what? I just want to get a little bit of this interaction and just do it for you know, thirty seconds sixty seconds and then cut a little snip it out of that and it's just a great thing to be able to add in I love adding in into the beginning of videos even you know, like the kids laughing or mom and dad you know, talking and and something like that but those aren't in these two here but that's very easy just add those little audio clips and even if you take mom and dad aside and just have him actually talked to the video just for voice not for for seeing them talking but pretty special in the final product selling it I just wantto let them know you know this is what's available, this is what's a brand new, and your clients will get excited about new things, whether it's while portrait surrounding products or, you know, whatever it is that you're doing new. I've got this great new product menu. Somebody mentioned that online this morning and that's something that they want incorporate right away, you know, just getting excited about it and letting your clients know I've got some brand new things I'm super excited to share with you and letting them know they're one of the first people to get introduced to this, so sell that video concept for me. I'm not letting them also know that they're actually saving money if they invest on it in the beginning, and they're saving a couple hundred dollars it's not much, but the way the video product is priced on our menu by the time they do their session fee their video product and then that two thousand dollars in credit, they're saving a couple hundred bucks so I can just say to them, going to save money if you actually invest in this in the beginning and it's something that's, new and exciting and, you know nobody's, nobody has so it's fun. All right. And our download today is another set of product templates. This is six designer collections. These are again multiple image pieces that you can drop multiple images into, and you can use these for any of your product lines. You know kids, high school seniors, even weddings. They make fun, finished products.

I cannot say enough GREAT things about this course!!! I've been in business for over 10 years now, but still need to check in on the business side of things periodically. This class reminds us just how much fun marketing, sales, and planning can be. It has rejuvenated my passion for the BUSINESS side of this business. In fact, I'm so inspired by what Lori has to say, I think I will recommend this class to my COMPETITORS down the street. We will all be better for it and the industry will be better too! This is perfect for those just starting out AND seasoned pros :)
