CC 2019 Update - Native Mocha AE Plugin
Here's an update for adobe. After effects CC users or anyone using a future version of after effects Mocha Ae has now been integrated within after effects a bit more. So you have things like track data right within after effects, after you've done the tracking before, we had to go back and forth. Kind of redo it in in mocha as you saw in previous lessons. So if you have a video that you want to track or replace the screen, for example, such as this video that I have, if you go to Effects and presets and you type in mocha, you have this effect. So if I apply this to this track now or this layer now, you see in the effect controls panel, the mocha effect. If I click on mocha mocha opens up, you'll notice that the layout is a little bit different. You can have the old layout by going to this essentials button and choosing classic but the new essentials panel is a lot easier and user friendly, I'd say so say we want to replace the screen just like we have done in the past. If you create t...
he explain if we click this and then we just want to create that spline on the layer itself. So click around the screen, just like this, four clicks and then right click to and that then we're going to click this s button right here to show the planer surface and we're going to move this around the edge of the screen so make sure that's around the edge, even around the glow of that screen, it's going to look the best. Cool. Now if we go ahead and track this data just by pressing the track next, it's going to go through and one thing that's been updated is that it works a lot faster as well uh mocha this effect so I'm going to let that go ahead and track through. Alright, so once that motion has been tracked, all we have to do is click save, so click that save button down here or file save project and then exit out of that. Now, what we have is the tracking data right within after effects to play around with. So to create a screen, what I want to do is similar to last time we create a new layer, so layer new solid white doesn't matter what color because we're gonna be replacing that information. Now I'm going to turn this off for now but if we go back to our video layer, we're going to create track data right within after effects. So click that button, we're going to use that layer one which is the tracking that we did back in mocha So select turn that on right there and select the layer. Click Ok, now, what we're going to do is export to the white solid layer so export option, we're going to use corner pin with motion blur support so that if there's a lot of motion, there is some actual motion blur this video, there's not too much motion so it's not going to do too much, but I'm going to turn that on and then layer export to White solid three, then apply export. Now if we turn on the white solid, we see that this white solid is now tracked to the phone. If we pre compose this, so if we select it right click pre compose, select, okay. Or we're going to rename this screen now, if we open this up, it's a full screen that we can add video to add our motion graphics to whatever it is. So I'm just going to throw in this video layer right here. So we got this video. This is my old film reel which I it was the first thing I could find. So now you have this video in your phone screen so you might want to go in here play around with some of the settings, you add some reflection, drop the opacity, things like that to make it look a little bit more realistic. But the main premise of this video is that the mocha effect is now right within after effects to use and we still have that data right here. So I actually need to redo it or things like that, create a new mask or a new layer. You can do that right here within after effects. Another thing I just noticed is that you still see a little bit of that screen on the left hand side so we can get rid of that with some spill suppression. So if we use the advanced spill suppressor that gets rid of that so that helps a little bit or we can go back and adjust our tracking data and that's cool. That's one thing that now that this is an effect, we can just go ahead, select that layer, click mocha again. Now we're back here with our tracking data so we can go ahead and adjust this. Maybe move it just out a little bit so we don't get that much edge. Re track it, Reese, save it. It's I'm not going to save it here but you would basically redo that process and um in creating the screen and again it's right here within after effects. If you have any questions, let me know otherwise, play around with it and have fun.
