To sign up for an author account, go to KDP dot amazon dot com. You'll get to a page that looks like this. If you have an Amazon account, you can sign in or if you want to create a separate account for your books, you can do that by signing in as a separate user or clicking to sign up. I'm going to go ahead and sign in to get to the back end of KDP. It's a simple platform. So here you can see that there's four tabs Bookshelf reports, community and marketing. The bookshelf has all of the books that you have created on it already. The reports is where you see the sales, the downloads uh community is, I've honestly never been on the community tab and marketing is where we can do some of the marketing options like enrolling in KDP select, which pays you per minute read. So it's sort of like a membership program for Amazon users who pay to access all of the books in KDP select. And then if your book is read, you get paid for however many pages is actually read, there's a big pot of money ev...
ery month or every quarter, um, this fund and then you get paid based off of that here. You can pay for ads. That's the sponsored, um, books that we saw earlier. But what you'll see later on is the run of Price Promo promotion, which I always do the free book promotion. We'll look at that later. All right, to start a book though. What you'll wanna do is go to your bookshelf and you're going to want to create, we're going to create a Kindle Ebook. If you want, you can also not do an ebook if you just have a paperback or a hard cover, but that's not what I'm going to show you in this case study. We're going to start with an ebook and then we'll see how to convert it to a paperback really easily. So then we're just going to click create an ebook and here is where we get to start putting the information about our book. You see book title series. If it's a part of a series, the edition, if it's a, it's a part of an edition, this is optional, you probably wouldn't do this now. But if you put out another edition later on, you might put second edition, third edition, et cetera. Here is where you have your name or anybody who has collaborated or contributed to your book as an editor, if you're collaborating with other people, description, et cetera. So I'm going to walk through this process. In the next lesson to get started with our book that we're working on um and show you what I would actually do also combine by using chat GP T to do some of this stuff like writing out our title and description.

I have been using ChatGPT since early this year and love it, but there's always more to learn to pass along to clients. What a great, practical class with cookbook like instructions for getting set up and using it on various platforms. Funny enough, I was uploading art I created in AI and doctored up in photoshop while I was listening :) Well done!

Wow! This was an easier process than I thought, with the follow and do as you go along with the videos. I am finishing up my first journal to be published and 3 more in the works. Can’t wait to see how it goes with the sales! Thank you so so much for this complete and thorough course!
