Net Stitch Edging
The next thing that we're gonna be learning working on is the net edging. So here is a swatch of net edging that was added to a natural net piece. And this is another swatch of the beginnings of a net edging that was added to the site of a crow shaped peace. I love the Nets stitch. In general, it's really great if you're making something like a farmer's market bag to like to use it all in one. I've actually made topside of them. Obviously, you were stuff underneath him, but they make a really great like bathing suit kind of cover up anything, Um, and it's just really nice because you get a lot of mileage fast, and it's really just change. Stitches, mostly. But this is really fun to add is an edging to shawls, to scarves, um, or maybe to even a hem line of a skirt. Maybe really cute, especially a fabric skirt. And we're gonna be covering attaching crow shade of fabric as our last lesson today. So that's something to consider if you were thinking about just adding a little flair to maybe...
something store by. All right. So I grabbed my turn. So I'm going to get a whole new Swatch and I need to rejoin. So just give me a sec, okay? And again, the instructions for this are on the practice sheet in the bonus materials. Can you speak more about the bonus materials? Yeah, absolutely. I I also wanted to mention that with this course, you also get two free patterns that sort of used some of the skills that we've used in there. It's really just a little, you know, like added bonus. Just a thank you for hanging out with me throws a cowl. It's a daisy cowl. It's kind of part cow, part like shoulder warmer. But I did it a navy, and it's got these white flowers on it really fine. You could practice with your joining. It also has buttonholes on it. Teoh, I believe I did button loops for those so you could employ some of these skills. The other is a dish cloth and a towel on, and I'll talk a little bit more about that when we work on our last lesson because it pertains directly to it. Other than that, you'll have Cochet abbreviations. It's just a comprehensive list I just took it from your own standards dot com, which is a great resource. If you've never been there, check it out. If you want to know anything about measurements, like what size to make based on measurements, it will explain that it will tell you how to measure yourself. It gives you abbreviations. It's a wealth of knowledge. It's urine standards dot com, and they allow instructors to print out any of the information and offer it to students. So I have done that with the abbreviations, and you can find that in the same area. Okay, All right, so let's move on to the net edging. So if you were working on a piece that you were designing, this needs to be in multiples of four. We're not gonna worry about that for our swatches by it's just something to know if you were working on a piece for yourself. All right, so we're going to start by chaining four stitches. Then what we want to dio is we want to I'm sorry, Chain five and then we want to skip three stitches. 123123 And we want a single Cochet in that next stitch, and that is our first little It looks vaguely like the buttonhole that we just made, but that's our first little net action. So then we're going to just repeat that all the way across. So we're going Teoh Chain five, Skip three Single crush A in the next stitch Chain five, Skip Single Cochet in the next stitch, Jane five Skipped single crochet. All right, so that's the end of my rope. So that's where a one. And now we're gonna flip our peace over four row to we're going to change five, and then we're going to single Cochet in that chain space from the row below. So we just dip in and single Cochet they were gonna change five dip in single car Shea in that lip. And what that does is that creates a staggered effect. Almost a scalable FAC of these Nat Stitches for five. Single car shea. One tooth groups Actually, I got ahead of myself. Got a little overzealous, Aiken end there. Okay, so you're just gonna go to the end. So what you can do is you can repeat this row as many or as few times as you want. You could start there. I would do more. I feel like you can't really see as much as I'd like to see. So I would flip it over, and I actually just so I don't get any weirdness here, I might actually dio a couple of chains two or three and hook it into the end of my piece of my swatch. There's no reason to I just feel better about it. So I want to go that way. Okay, so we flip the piece. single crush A. You're just gonna keep going again and again, I would recommend probably at least three rows of doing this, but really, up to about five. Looks great. Okay, so you got the idea Really easy stretches out. You could do it. If you're working on a triangle piece like this, you can kind of just fudge it. Just work with the shapes, maybe add, you know, an extra single Cochet here, there, or maybe an additional chain to compensate for the shaping. Just have fun with it. Let it be sculptural. That's what Cochet is. And just keep going. Are there any questions about this particular edging? That's pretty self explanatory, right? It's pretty. Yes. Who would you attacks you into here? No, in the center of the whole Loose. So you yet? Yep. Dive on into the center. I love that you're doing this all on the same swatches you've got, like, a little what colors on what would look at you with your notes. Good job sharing. How about you? It looks good. Have any of you done that stitch before? Yes. Good. Good. Second nature, then.

I just want to say that I'm watching from Australia and because of the time difference I only got to catch the last few lessons (it started at 1am). I'm so sorry I didn't see the other lessons. Vickie was an excellent instructor and I enjoyed what I did see SO much. Thank you.

I learned something new in the first five minutes. Vicki is a wonderful teacher. She encourages "design elements" so there is no "wrong" way to do something. I highly recommend any of her classes!

I found it pretty easy to understand despite the fact that I am a very new beginner.
