Class Introduction
Welcome everybody to the Creative Live Fast Start Class for the X-T2. My name is John Greengo and in this class we're going to be going over all the features and functions of the X-T2, kind of the idea for the day is we're going to go take a little tour of the outside of the camera and talk about all the buttons and all the dials. I'll talk about their capabilities and what they can do and why you would set them for one setting or the other. Second half of the class, we dive into the menu system, which is pretty extensive in this camera and we're going to go through each of the items in there and talk about what they're for and how you would use them in different manners and kind of more importantly, we're going to get you set up on your camera so that it's set up the way you want it to be set. Now, I have a lot of recommendations on how I think it should be set for an average user or maybe a more advanced user. But, you're going to want tweak and adjust the camera yourself. Now, with ...
the class, you do get a PDF and I'm a very visual person and what I have designed here is the entire menu system on a single page so that you can quickly scan and see all the features and I've also put in my recommendations at least kind of an initial starting point on where to have the camera set up. And, so you'll see that on this page. Which, I often reference myself for finding things in here because it's a lot easier than scrolling through the menus. I also have a second page in here so that you could print it off yourself and write in your favorite settings or something that's important for you to come back. And, one of the other things we're going to be going through in this camera, is the numerous shortcuts. This camera, unlike any other brand of cameras, Fuji puts a lot of kind of invisible, secret shortcuts that unless you dive pretty deep into the menu, you're not going to realize that press this button twice and it unlocks this one feature or hold this button down, turn this dial and something changes. And so, I have, what do I have? I think I have 13 different secret function shortcuts in here. And, we'll be talking about those as we go through the class and then in the end, I got a wrap-up where we'll review all of those features at the same time, so that you can help, help you remember those sections in there. So, by the time we're done with this, I think you're going to know all the features, you're going to know how to work the camera, and you're going to have your camera set up the way you want it to work and I think you'll probably be a pretty good expert in the X-T2 by the time we're done with the class. Now, if I can just kind of speak on a personal level for a moment. Photographers, like myself, and many other people for a long time have been wanting and looking for a camera that was small, but was a serious camera. A camera that you could do serious photography work and there have been relatively very few cameras in my lifetime that have addressed these needs. Now, I know that there's a whole world of point two cameras, but I love the world of interchangeable lenses because it allows you to change the camera to fit whatever it is that you're doing. So, forgetting about the world of cameras with built-in lenses. In my lifetime, the really great small cameras that were built well, that you could take great pictures with, were things like the Leica M6, the Nikon FM2 and there's a couple different versions of that that you can throw in there as well. And then, in the 90s, there was the Contax G2, which I thought was a pretty neat little camera. And then, we hit kind of a dry spell as we entered into digital, as image quality was getting better. I think kind of an honorary member in this grouping is the Olympus OMD EM and then there's subsequent versions of that that I think are quite nice. But, the one that kind of really struck me kind of hard was the Fuji X Pro1 when it came out. It looked really really good, but it was a little bit funky. The menu systems and the auto-focus just wasn't quite up to the performance standards a lot of us had hoped for. But then the X-T1 came out and I don't know that I've seen that much excitement about a camera in a long time. Now, since then, we've got the X Pro2, which has fixed all the problems in the X Pro and now we have the X-T2, which is the best of the whole bunch. And, it's an amazing little camera. I think it's probably the ideal travel camera for a pretty serious photographer. Yeah, I know you can carry more gear around and you can carry smaller gear around, but I think this is just a really powerful punch for a small size camera and so, it's something I really like. I've been enjoying the X Pro2, but let me tell you, the flip out screen on this is something that I utilize a lot because I think getting an interesting point of view is very important. And this does have a few more features than the X Pro2. So, amazing camera and we've got a great class for you here. So, let's go ahead and get started with this.

I highly recommend this class! Been shooting Nikon for 40+ years and decided to give my Nikon gear to my daughter and go the smaller and lighter Fuji X-T2 for travel. Excellent camera and this course was outstanding in helping me learn how to use the camera. I have watched a number of Nikon oriented instructional videos. This video by John Greengo is the best organized and informative presentation I have ever watched.

Really appreciate John putting these Fast Start Series together. Went through part of the training waiting on my Fujifilm X-T20 to arrive, which did today. That allowed me to dive into the menu settings and get the camera ready to use. I found that we are on Firmware 3.0, so, I have some updates to get installed. The training was great and informative as always. Don't hesitate to look for his Fast Start for your particular camera, and the in-depth training on Photography Fundamentals. It is well worth your time and money to get this training, especially if you are an amateur like myself, but, thanks to John Greengo I am quickly learning to use my camera in Manual Mode, most of the time.

We all learn from different methods. I, for one, learn best by watching you while teaching, and being able to work along side you, with my camera in hand, and then follow you. I highly recommend this class if you really want to know how to use your camera. Thank you John for helping me to relive my film days, and integrating into Digital. I now have my Fujo X-T2 programmed and I LOVE IT!
