My warmer it's got me clean hands are okay it's like a position hello? Amanda mandarin karen that's, right? Oh, good. Yeah, I mean it's like she likes that excellent he's a passing boy let's get ready to go to get by just in case it falls on the floor of a scythe specific yeah, because I'm using the leg trailer diaper wipes but they have like, a scent to them and just another kind of mole sauce. You just have to look that way back in the old eyes for your shoes. Yeah, I said it was my first to rinse it off you good? Well, time's just permission. Yes, we shall we take these and put them on the table your mother tell you things to us come and show you what we're doing. Nice ho grandma hear you being called grandma so that's the image there that I showed you in the mother's room and I just explained the process, right? So this was a horn that we photographed earlier the same one. Um and so in photo shop we're going to be taking out the pole in the string and everything and, um obviously t...
able and all the paraphernalia on the table if you want to come around this way and I'll show you what we're doing, I just put this here jonah that one look has a vial wife's so under this roof but that's a little bit of armand and his little head yeah and so he's just going to be lying in near wendell the phone and it's it's all built out around the banks that's quite receding and jonas standing here with him the whole time and natalie started as well so all he needs to sleep thank you got that down and you guys consider here on these stools and watch on the screen you can see what's happening make yourselves at home and I love for the folks at home that I mean this is this is really this is the beauty of live television and why we're doing this I just don't see it the entire process it's really like for you I know I know it's a lot of hurry up and wait sometimes I don't know if it's an american way have that term is wait and so you know you just gotta be really calm and yeah little little developed sit down so we're just gonna go and see a nepali and a little bit because I'm running out of hate jonah in your in the draw yeah quiet so right now we won and is getting some hand warmers um so that the babies are totally comfortable which is what she typically does as she said she got cold hands from the time and so first we're running out so now she's can her hands all warmed up? Every little detail is every little detail, uh, is there's so paid attention, teo, in terms of making the baby, is comfortable and natural and normal, so sleeping, so she doesn't even know what's going on. Find soft, beautiful, gorgeous, sexy doesn't just take then it's like a little closure. You guys, sweetheart, you be a good boy for us and be a good boy for mummy that's. What we say a lot, do it for mummy, come on, just do it for money. What they've just done is they had those hot water bottles on there, and so they've taken those off that the prophet is totally warm and comfortable and ready to go that from money induced, you weigh a good way. Do you have to put forward and that's good, wait, just think about that before you put him down. Hey, hey, hey! Theo theo way put the thing on his own guy sake I say when I say you could come down but I'm not sin could come down but I can't see it can you say that pulled you up was here way talk you think that's gonna go this way shouldn't get away I'm not sure that singles hey it's a pain waned way good let's go to the magnet you wanted that face just just got this feeling that dawn it's just done it's been here and every other way fingers did you that's good don't pull it so hard I just tuck under his shoulder you're going you okay? Just just just just get him in here can play with these ok stay here don't have beers around behind the affect did this I didn't took him safe hits gonna stay I just have to prop his chin up a little bit so I can property to wait for what six of one half dozen of the other way stuffing it just say the hand needs to come from knowing his head in at least at the other end can hold his head a lot work to watch them work together I crouched down because I can't quite see from my perspective so when I'm watching us all the little hand's moving it's really interesting to see how jonah holds the baby in the different positions so that there keeping keeping baby asleep and the gentle, gentle touches very, very cool I also hear mom and grandma over here chatting I would love to come to get a little reaction from you guys because I heard you two chatting about some observations yeah it's just cool how they're using different every household item just tow prop him up in a certain way you're just the way the way they're doing that like I heard you talk about the the plastic yeah, like they rolled up plastic wrap too, I think prop his head or his body a certain way and you just wouldn't think of household item being used as a prop in photography. So that's pretty cool, but it's pretty cool and yeah, they're really gentle with him and just it's great. Okay, well, command too much coming back. Just checking this head to toe from the back of his head is no it's his head, you know, I'm gonna order like a side of her face and not come back if I can get a look at his face just so I can focus get couple of manure you wanna get a cup when then fiddle. I'm just checking the phone booth right tracks are good, we've got another year doing this can you tuck it under is coming a little bit more and rounded out around his bottom and my medicine to straighten his leg all of the above it just looks like a very nice for a little here, man I just wanna point out people have a look that natalie is back there as well. You know, I'm behind the body that was certainly a headless body behind us holding on to the head that's not that's great that's great. Let me just get that jonah just go can you go around down the back of the table so you know what? Walking that like that's it yeah that's better and we got to eleven way now we're at eleven yes, ok don't we need to just rammed out the bottom that way talk just people can't read minds yeah just filling that good yeah yeah natalie's holding his arm and his and the back of his hat um so it's just feeling it's good to get a few down so we're right he looks beautiful it's just slightly soft just right his foot yeah do you want me to rack focus forward at all? Are you good? We're just like johnny. What time did you get that coat? Can you round up? Can you get that underneath? Please tell me what was it that you we're just feeling now because you know we've got the basics on dh then now we've got time to adjust taught her around a bit it's always nice to talk we called on mrs and mrs what mrs twitter talked to tortures and fiddles and rising wait, we wantto get it as perfect as we can in camp in camera yeah, because it's just a whole lot better really? Um we can see round at his body and ran towards the bottom a little bit more but you know, I just feel with the ears and he looks great. Yeah, beautiful and I know we were way paying very close attention yesterday to the john doe's can suit hold them so that's it I think that's pretty good way come I can't tell if this such fine baby hair we're just going to wait you just give me a little bit like while you're doing that? Yeah, just making sure got a perfect weigh right way are focused around the heart could be I just don't know one emmanuel you keep it on manual, come in yeah, that here needs to know it's a little bit too straight come forward just ever so slightly a slight little tech I'm gonna try this and I say some good so don't feel too much can I just get a couple this's hit's gonna shop for dinner we just have to take was just putting do won like that the other horn on we didn't have it because we didn't think we'd need it and I just bit yeah yeah can we just do that? Oh just pull that yeah, that ears yeah yeah that's better okay that's all we should just stay out of right back out of the light no that's okay that's ok, let me just get that it would be good do that on this and tuck it underneath his tummy folks is great it's got to be such a getting it right camera but also not over fussing so that the baby yeah if you fast too much it kind of gets too complicated bit we know we've got it and so now I can feel a little bit anything he wakes up it's fine. Okay, yeah it's just perfecting it really has been really good scratch it's very valuable mom is surprised that's always a good thing that means baby's in good hands oh he's in lots of good hands up there he fits in there really well actually said something we've got little bits of phone up underneath the back and around his bottom so it goes around and just got to get through all that in the right position don't don't do it for the horn dawn okay once, if anything, it was so interesting what we saw yesterday in that behind the scenes footage was perfecting all the details like that horn just to the left of the baby's head so that you could see that definition that's right get more three dimensional which I can really see in effect right now yes it was worked hasn't it yeah it's really well fed off it'll nell is giving me the look no that's great hey step away from the baby yes I'm not his hits to come forward sorry oh nelly that's good that's good that's good I go go go go a ghost a ghost I p is not great is it ok go on then I don't know just and we need to get it a little bit more fame around his leg so it's tucked underneath so it's tucked in there and there was just it looks great honest smooth leg that you were trying to get from her we want it's just tripped over the top and so so wait don't disturbing but we're trying to tuck it underneath without waking him up and it's certainly sure we're slipping off so much slingbacks I love that little um curled fingers underneath I'm looking over there as well as I think I just perfect and I look at that look at that look at mom mom it's just I mean marshall it's mike I think you're adorable thank you way back over that way he's over there usable waken sharp that that's just a little yeah, I think it's best if you just accept that under there might just have to fix it but under the afternoon that's little match ready and let's take him back he doesn't want it doesn't want to likes it when I get back ten twenty filling with face now twenty first keeps going to you know post post here it's been really forces waiting unbelievably good thea wait going gets beyond it doesn't yeah I think I'm having quickly arranged and then told I can grab his head grab his head smiley faces to this country just stubbed my cousins thanks patty you got that? You got a great thing sure is star wars type you have time till I get back you can you get him back get under this transfer just getting his hash off. Grace grace what a good boy you gonna get in there. Get in there. Thank you. It's beautiful to drag it, take a picture with him. Stand up, come back over think stephanie's gonna get uh some photos of him grandma come back. How was that for you? It was they're fun to watch the creativity. Of course, seeing your grandson is adorable came into star wars blink yes, we're big fans and mom seen that finally not final image but seeing him on the oh it's beautiful I mean, I grew up with and getting so what toe season and everybody says makes me feel well just to see my my child's working with her it's pretty special yeah he's beautiful so good and that's right? I think he's really relaxed you're saying he likes it he does I'd be asleep before was wrapped up in this so give it back to you thank you that's a little warm blob he's very warm thank you so much thank you. Thank you so much for coming in. Great probably sleep all the way home you ask to meet you come over and wash my hands see you out. Oh yes and the works kind of essential not be nice to sleep way we're having a discussion you just try and appreciate your baby's would to you yeah it's my hand warming just don't appreciate it I'm just saying you don't appreciate your babyhood when you sleep like that well and what we're going to do now um while we're waiting is we are going to play for everybody just a brief intro ofwhat we filmed yesterday setting up that set eso when we walked through it we've got that ready to go. So what role that seo you know what happened before we got to roll so and before we have the baby's actually come in tomorrow let's talk a little bit about the setup which is everything everything, everything yeah so we've got the horn oh it's rigged up to the pole everything's safety is paramount with these shoots you know? And so this little doll here is one that I've used for years and years she's not very malleable so we generally think when we put her in place and on setting up the lighting now um if she looks good the baby's gonna look amazing because you know, it's just just a bit chunky and stiffened and so on but this is a great we use the stalls teo get the lighting right? We're just printing the big background so that's white too small so we need to get that in place get the lighting all we'll sit, you know wanna beautiful like that comes down and lights you know, it just highlights over the back of the baby so that's what we're looking at up here? Yep yep exactly for those photographers who are looking and want to know I haven't really set the lights yet, but we're starting with if a living all around and because I really sort of want a really beautiful soft glow. Andi haven't shot it in camera at some. Not quite sure I'm biddle fishing and that I like to use like matters I don't know what a lot of people out there doing, you know, but to me it's really thisa company time to know exactly what the lights doing as opposed to just adjusting it on digital on dh for those who want photographers uh, I think it's going to be a fantastic image, actually, you know what if the dole looks great? Um, it's going to look amazing? Yeah, that said, no, it looks what I'm going to do is shoot the horn without the doll. This is the dollar's just here for the lighting and keep the camera on this exactly the same position tomorrow. And of course, we'll have a table underneath and so the babies just stop lying on the horn and will be padded. We have fabric underneath the baby and everything, and so they're not just seeing photo shop will be able to just take that section that the babies and drop it straight into the horn. Subtle, you know, it'll look like the horns just sitting in the same time, so I've got the back jobs, and then we are you're setting up the lighting, um, with the doll so that and then you're going to photograph oh, shit this just to see if it's, right? Yes, yes, we'll be able to see with the dole on dh. Then we'll take the dole out and photographed the horn on its own. As well so we've got all of the components of a good photo shop you know which is what I said before you know the this cake is the best ingredients and with all of the light falling in the right place it's really important I'd like to get it perfect yeah babel tio go behind behind the scenes with you and see how you set everything up yesterday we were just talking while that was playing about lighting diagram s and fact that we are creating little diagrams for each of the days that can be a part of when people do own the inside the studio thing getting's experience but you also have I too you know marius I try to be a little bit fluid with it but you know, over the past eighteen months I've shot in a lot of different cities and way went to doe hearin cutter and I did a big project dear um what were you doing there? Well, I photographed um I was invited to go over there and photograph fifteen of there other olympic athletes or prominent athletes from the region two with with babies and newborn children to demonstrate the benefits of a healthy lifestyle because it's so hard over there and a lot of people don't exercise and there's a very high incidence of diabetes too which is sort of related and and so on and so that was that was interesting it was a great project to do and challenging in a lot of ways because there are no photographic studios in doa really and there are no rental places or anything like that so we literally had to just fly everything in um oh yes so there had to be some planning there was a lot of planning you know, we went over there and everyone was very gracious and they showed us lots of different scenarios and teams off you know where we could shoot but way ended up shooting in aa uh it was pretty much a construction site which was going to be a moroccan restaurant but we've made it into a studio and you know, I think one of the great things about you creating studios is that you can really create them out of anything at all on dh you know, for the way we were there for three weeks well, you need us for walls yeah, you just need four walls and to go into a totally different culture was just amazing I'll have to show you some of those images you know, you know it's photographing some of the women are so beautiful over there and one of the women who wanted to take part she was ah question and she said I'd love teo I love to be a part of this serious but I can only show my eyes and that's a sign okay that's interesting, you know it's like I said in that interview I keep going back to them and I never find, um, lose sleep over a lot of things as everybody does, but I never looseleaf over creating a, um uh, a situation that, you know, I can photograph around, consider it's a challenge, but it's also a great opportunity and we all came away like the same team was there. We all came away from that shoot thinking, yeah, we can do anything, you know and, you know, that's great, but in terms of lighting scenarios, don't be too sit if you, uh, looking at what I'm doing here, really, there are lots of different ways to like something, and I think that you need to light it from within yourself and don't copy someone else's, what do you mean by that? You know, you know, I say don't copy, I should say that try to copy because, you know, if you're a photographer, don't try to copy somebody else, photograph from your heart right and do your own lighting scenarios because everything every situation calls for something different when you are thinking about that when you have thirty years of experience, so what are some of the things that you did early on in terms of, well, sure mistakes or just testing or figuring out your lighting. I know we talked about in your book that early on. Once you've got the lighting like you liked it, you just went with it. But how did you how did you figure out what you like? But we're not there. So, you know, I was first from starting out. Uh, and, well, when I found my style the moment I walked into a photographic studio and I struggled for the first couple of years. Uh, when I first picked up a camera, which is when I was twenty five, and to find myself, I knew what I wanted to do. But it wasn't creating was photographing outside on people's homes and gardens, and so on, because I started with portraiture, and I was just, like, you know, it's nice, but it's, not what I want, it's, not what I want, and the moment that that change was when I walked in, I was in melbourne, in australia, and I walked into a photographic studio for the first time, and it was like a light went on, you know? It was like it was like coming home. I always say it was just the thought of the this four walls and the sense of possibility and the fact that you can come or I could control what I was doing and I'm very much that sort of photographer and particularly with babies you really need a controlled environment on this is, you know, the studio that we're in its temperature controlled it's great, you know, everything needs to be perfect for the babies to photograph outsiders so it's just not really my my thing I think it's so interesting because I think we all as photographers have different different things that do come naturally to us or different visions. I, for example, am more of a see outside and seeing what's there and then capturing the moment like I actually struggle with all of the pre visualization and that imagination that I like to sit right there and yeah, that I see in you you, which I think is what people at home find so so wonderful and watching you work is is that ability to see the imagination at work I guess eventually I guess that takes longer and having a life yeah, I love lighting, I just love, you know, just the thought of lighting tomorrow for aquarius and you know the possibilities and, you know, I don't even know I do not have a lighting plan for how light the image tomorrow until this afternoon last table tio some of us will be able to see that film somewhere that exactly see that creation process but keeps coming back to me and is, um is seeing how much you trust yourself like you said you don't uh don't worry about the the fact that you will be able to solve problems creatively how did you how did you get to that point of truly trusting yourself that you know you'll be able to solve it? Well, I think it's experience and it's you know the tim you ten thousand dollars you know, people who are not familiar with this but you know, the theory is and I don't remember the name of the book and I should credit the author, but I don't know, but I just totally agree with this it's not if you've done your ten thousand hours at anything that you that you work at, you know, whether you're an architect or with your weight arrow with your anything you know you can all right, you know that you're always going to be able to draw something from that situation and for all of my years of experience and this this I'm talking about creatively and in terms ofthe working with babies and young children, you know that you can come up with something that's um um that that you had to pick up your game, you know that what you can imagine it this video this is a process of me you need to imagine something and then you need to actually bring it to reality and, like with you, you pick up a camera, happens in front of you, that's your thing with me, it's kind of like a journey, um, to get to the end result. And I actually really loved that journey. You know, I love all the, um, the research and the conversations and waken do it this many ways. And you know what? Let's go this way and and so on, you know? I mean, I just I just love doing that, and so I know that, you know, out of I can do make something out of any situation. I do not photographed two year olds anymore. Bash. I do know that if somebody bought me a two year old and asked me to do a portrait, which I don't do anymore, I know that I could experience, I couldn't do something with a two year old who's having a bad day until you're also having a bad day can be pretty awful people eyes everyone knows well, we've got tio tio have tell it like it is, yeah, exactly. Yeah, we do have another newborn, tonto. Okay, co o that's great, right?

Ratings and Reviews

I just read the other reviews and think people may not have watched the preview video or listened to Kenna's explanation of what was going to happen. I felt the class was exactly what was advertised, and thought Kenna did an excellent job keeping things moving when there were obvious delays or unexpected events with "the talent" (the babies). I felt like I was at Anne's studio and experiencing what actually happens when she is working on a project. You can't script babies and pets, so you go with the flow and adapt. I think that's what they said and did. Kenna was always prepared to discuss Anne's books, or other topics and did a great job getting personal/and professional with Anne-just as they said they were going to. It is Creative "Live" so it could have been Much less organized, and much more chaotic, but I was actually Very impressed with the production and smoothness of the Creative Live team. I did feel like my view was blocked at times when I wanted to see how they were setting up some of the actual shots- but in general I think they did just about as well as you could in those conditions. I am not paid by Creative Live nor do they probably even know me, but I'm very happy to support and actually buy their content-because I don't know another place/format that teaches so many different, practical, and interesting topics as they do and I Love that they take chances like this and really do Deliver. Anne was very clear that she is not a technician. Creative Live has Tons of Great Technician classes in So many genres of photography (and of course other area)- with Anne's class there is Plenty to Learn from her, but the value does not come in the Wam Bam machine gun delivery of latest tech and tools, it is in the methodical, patient, But Driven pace that is anything but chaotic (as one reviewer said). As I said at the beginning, I think they delivered exactly what was advertised and I am very happy with my purchase. There is a wealth of information and frankly entertainment, for someone who is interested in really seeing behind the doors... AND, it is good for new people and experienced people, who are looking to get better in their craft, more successful, or maybe even famous-if they are honest...to see that not every day in a studio (or in any profession really)-Even for Anne Geddes- is Glamourous, Exciting and "Sexy": sometimes it is crying babies that need their diapers changed.

I had the honor of supporting Anne in her launch of her beautiful line of baby clothing here in Washington ( as her fulfillment provider ) and her attention to every detail, their willingness to share their commitment to an unforgettable experience for every customer - it was such a pleasure to see the magic on the photography side of the business that I never had the opportunity to witness. Pure perfection, and thank you so much for sharing. Best to Anne and Kel! Michelle Harden

Watched the first day of this event and it was very different than other creative live workshops. Different is sometimes good and sometimes bad, this session was just that good and bad. It really lacked the teaching aspect, they did not go over her equipment, basic camera and lighting settings used to create the look she wants in her images etc...The lady who was interviewing her was terrible Anne seemed really open to share but the questions were very poor and lacked follow up and really diving into what Anne was doing. It was really neat to get to watch her work, she has an amazing personality that really is soft and kind and it showed in the way she worked with the parents, babies, and her team. It was a great overview of how she approaches the studio and a project and the detail that goes into making a top notch image. It is however weak on giving you the info strait up on how to improve your own work. If you want to see what it's like to work with a big team on a major project this is a great workshop. If you want technical teaching it is not so great.
