Aries Shoot: Naia Part 2
So that was great. That was really good. What about about that one surprised you? What? She's a little off about that she's around I'm sure he meant photographic teams here. Um she's just perfect. You know, for what I visualized and both parents are chinese, which is great, you know, which is what I wanted for the chinese zodiac, but that said, oh, you've got a little left that sit on we don't know yet you know who will choose will have to have a sit down, have a good looker that's really nice after the shoot to go back, you know, just relax and look through them all and that is just for for people who weren't with us yesterday, that is what we'll do later today is after we take a break, once we have photographed the last baby, we will then come back and we're going to see some printouts. We'll do a little bit of photo shop work and two people see the one from musa professional can you might be able to see that over shoulder is quite stunning beautiful, absent print with that big print...
er over there. But tell us again about what we'll see why it is that you print these out, I like to print them because it makes them real too may like to me it's like the final piece in the puzzle even though for instance, this print that you see on the back wall hasn't been returning public because a set like for this horn image for areas we will add other elements that have already seen, um, hand painted like the sweet piece and, you know, with the areas is a fire sign or in a sign and all of that sort of all the little symbols will have integrated into the image like tomorrow with aquarius who got award a symbol on the parts and it's fascinating looking into that whole world of the syriac it's, just so many elements that we could have included, but we've decided on, you know, just some a certain number for each image to keep it nice and simple. Oh, absolutely, people are just gonna be looking at the baby so you like, but you gotta listen this and this and this and but that's the part of it. So just like, thea image from yesterday, uh, leo is yes, that you you look at the image and you do you look right away the connection that you've made with the baby, but also what you created around it is such that it brings you right to the baby, so for me, looking at the colors on the patterns and just the way you've set it up there's so much going on and yet it's simplified in away there's so much going on, but the first thing you look at it it's the baby and that's a particular with babies who are six to seven months old, you know, because they're engaging, this is different with newborns who are sleeping, but still the baby is the center of attention, you know, which is the way it should be? Absolutely, absolutely, uh, I wanted to read you another comment from what the folks at home are saying. D w photo says in my experience, many new parents and newborn photographers do not understand that one post can take so long to achieve it's, so nice to see and taking as long as needed to get the perfect image in camera to art is not captured in tons of images true art is created by preparation and patients in capture, enjoying every moment of oh, what a nice message and that's true, because it's something that I'd like to mention I never try to do more than one image in a day, right? Ever it's just not with it and newborns can't be rushed um, and six month old certainly can't be rushed, but I just need teo I want to achieve one thing and that's it and it can be over within an hour or it can take you know, I mean, this is pretty normal a song was its taking today um and that's what you need to do with babies, you know, a way here and all sense of responsibility in terms of how you're dealing with them and appearance and all that sort of thing because for those appearance that the first time appearance two weeks have had a baby at home on dh, how proud are they? So how does a dead takes the baby? I'll take yeah it's lovely really lovely I'm glad maribel to see some of the reactions as well because you've been filming them, have you? You know, I heard you say there was some great reaction them see on the monitor when that comes up it's just really I had a moment that I've talked about last friday um that many years ago and when I was in the studio and I was photographing naked newborn babies in these shapes to go into one of the compass it images that I did and we just had a little little baby and natalie were saying he was wrapped in the rug asses you consume in terms of what we do today and the little baby's lying in this shape and natalie just took the rag off and just stepped aside and his mother with the baby's mother was standing behind me and the studio was really quiet look, my son is any beautiful and and it's just made me feel gross, mom because she was talking to herself and you know what a wonderful thing you know, because you're home with a newborn and anyone who's at home with a newborn and watching this now will totally understand it really doesn't turn your world upside down on um for those first few weeks, you know, you're not getting any sleep your whole routine has changed anyone who says that, you know, babies, they're not going to change my life well, you said you had one having just fun yeah, you know that they're going to fit into my routine right? And so on um and it's pretty it's pretty full on, you know, for those first few weeks and and that's why I always ask the mothers, you know, how are you? How are you feeling and how are you coping? And, um, you know, when I had newborn thirty years ago now, um it was different, I was isolated and I'm, um, away from family and so on, and I was very aware of fish and so I think it's really important that mother's bond together and that these days, you know, um, depression and things like that, you know, it's, it's and it's something that should be spoken about because a lot of women are natural mother is you know you you become a mother when you have a baby but you don't know how to be a mother um and for some women it's it's you know it's difficult and so I think if you want to look out for that and be really attentive to it yeah, I mean I believe that for people I'm not a mother myself but for friends that I've seen go through there's a lot of shame can be potentially a lot of shame involved in feeling this postpartum depression or feeling that you should be feeling differently somehow should be in love with this baby and everything's rosy and but it's not it's, not for anybody who comes home with a newborn um even if you you're just normal you know your whole body has changed you've just given birth. Your relationship with your partner is changing everything these little babies are so powerful they come to live in your house and all you have to do is make them happy because if they're not happy everyone around those unhappy quite good at it and they don't even know that they're doing no no here's the beautiful thing both of us we were each that baby everybody here we were yeah baby yes at one point uh but you never remember it and and the way they sleep on everything you know don't we all wish we could sleep like this you'll on babies it's incredible just out like a light and now I think that three I am in the morning I got a wish for that that will bring us we have just a few more minutes before the next baby this is gonna be ready, baby no that's baby four do you have a little notebook? You said you do carry around a mole skin but do you have something for when you wake up in the middle of the night? Is your brain always coming up right on our new idea right nights all the time and you know, my husband came up with this concept years ago. Uh, I always have a notebook by the bed. Okay, um and transfer it to my diary but it's um it's a way if you if you're awake in the middle of the night here I sound like a sleep therapist. Um if you write it down, you take it out of your mind and you put it onto the paper and see if you can forget about it until the morning that's the way I got your brain can let go yeah, um in particular for creative minds, you know, I did the lighting plan for um um leo at three a m the night before well don't just lie there anything I can do this okay and then I'll do that ok that's fine that's good good to sleep I think this is so great that we're getting to hear all of the little intricacies of time tortures your mind and I'm sure there's a lot of other minds like that you knew photographers out there and anyone who's creative will totally understand their whole process it never starts but it's never a burden never building so now that we go into the fourth baby do you feel like are you um more relaxed are you what is it? How is it change for you we've been going for probably what three hours yeah it's important with like look I know that I have this invention but it's still very very important for the energy of the team and they will be exactly us as I expect them to be to pretend that it's the first baby sure do their very best to get this baby sleep right on not quick too early or you know just be flippant in any way about it because it's this baby in terms ofthe mother coming to the shoot and everything is just as important as all of the others and the other thing is it could possibly be the best baby of them all right so you just never know I think everyone's had a chance to see today how I always say everybody is different every baby has a different character every baby it's a different way of lying in that particular shape and so you know it's just right for me to have a choice on next baby is here ready to go put my hands on this force for him santana she's back to yes I just washed my hands smooth so you weren't with us earlier today we started out with aidan right nyah sorry way started out with now let's meet the parents again come back over say hi again may I go again your names and how nice eyes two weeks old today eric well thank you. Um once again we'll have you sit over here how is she doing now? She seems pretty speak now she just finished eating so we'll see this is the beauty of the syrian writhe way out this time so how did she go in there have big feet she did she definitely ate a lot for this time a story falling asleep assumes you start eating so this girl around you haven't seen some of the other babies in there, have you? You know, because you came in yes shape. What about jolene? I went missing on the table but that's okay yeah that's part of taking pictures that's what editing is for e thank goodness terrible jealous what? Oh, I just don't know an adjustment yeah she's gotten what's so just gone jelly yeah gently by just put her on okay you got a boarding just you know what you are you two ready no, I'm doing I'm gonna chuck me out of this going on don't you don't you don't got a thing about you if you wanna go shopping on that extreme modifications you sure about this? Yes, quite literally I wanted to do that before dear okay let's do this with the right amount underneath. Last time I just got back from jonah was quite good way express e e e ah yeah cross one thing or it's bad luck something did you know that did you really just say that? Did you actually she's actually modified one's talking to the costumer sees this uh donna modification it what part? Um around under the tummy so I'm skeptical was that for the size of the baby or for she's been wanting to do it for the last three babies which was a pacifist twittering twittering twittering twittering twittering okay, so cool mrs wait can I just get a focus here? Yeah you don't need teo oh oh brian let's go shoots right maybe check would fix that uh near the top rhea yeah could isn't too big for is it for I don't I don't know do you want not tonight? Yeah what I don't know what's happened thank you know that's pretty good well, there you have it just flip it back that not that one that's good the one that's not stolen yeah, that that's good you know, it's quite nice to catch that like tina making working for us I will comply I want to put him down do you work with a team of perfectionists? Absolutely. We're all perfectionists differently but you know don't spend all this time working on it and so there's a little humor and little get it right there's long as being you know it's pretty good this probably the best one in terms ofthe not having to do anything on photo shop okay, what you're saying just saying it's what we're saying you know yeah you never know you just never know I think we've got a great yes very good not great she's a professional come on right now do you feel second time's a charm cooperated but should that's why this process is how it is because everyone in their own time exactly two weeks old yes beautiful. Thank you. Well, thank you so much for being a part of this. Thank you for having us. We'll let you guys were gonna undress her new take a little outfit on that was really fast she's she's pretty good at cooperating fantastic, thank you very hey, wait a second control here so you, uh, from I'm born. Why, actually, but both my parents have japanese send you up in it. So japanese and white it's beautiful here didn't get hair they had really wise. Oh, so this was a surprise when she came here. So the other to a seven on four for in a girl? Yes. Foreal didn't get here until she was like two and a half. She had, like, a very short hair for the longest time because it was so hard for her to grow it. And then this one came out full head. She just looks off a little dole just three am it's. More like four forest her magic number. Oh, really? For a little moment to shine? Yes, well, like you wear now have number four. Thank you so much for waiting. Friends got over having a yes right. Thank you. And the girls will show you out. But congratulations. Thank you so, so much when we did it and fantastic, um for four newborns for for new board that's great.

I just read the other reviews and think people may not have watched the preview video or listened to Kenna's explanation of what was going to happen. I felt the class was exactly what was advertised, and thought Kenna did an excellent job keeping things moving when there were obvious delays or unexpected events with "the talent" (the babies). I felt like I was at Anne's studio and experiencing what actually happens when she is working on a project. You can't script babies and pets, so you go with the flow and adapt. I think that's what they said and did. Kenna was always prepared to discuss Anne's books, or other topics and did a great job getting personal/and professional with Anne-just as they said they were going to. It is Creative "Live" so it could have been Much less organized, and much more chaotic, but I was actually Very impressed with the production and smoothness of the Creative Live team. I did feel like my view was blocked at times when I wanted to see how they were setting up some of the actual shots- but in general I think they did just about as well as you could in those conditions. I am not paid by Creative Live nor do they probably even know me, but I'm very happy to support and actually buy their content-because I don't know another place/format that teaches so many different, practical, and interesting topics as they do and I Love that they take chances like this and really do Deliver. Anne was very clear that she is not a technician. Creative Live has Tons of Great Technician classes in So many genres of photography (and of course other area)- with Anne's class there is Plenty to Learn from her, but the value does not come in the Wam Bam machine gun delivery of latest tech and tools, it is in the methodical, patient, But Driven pace that is anything but chaotic (as one reviewer said). As I said at the beginning, I think they delivered exactly what was advertised and I am very happy with my purchase. There is a wealth of information and frankly entertainment, for someone who is interested in really seeing behind the doors... AND, it is good for new people and experienced people, who are looking to get better in their craft, more successful, or maybe even famous-if they are honest...to see that not every day in a studio (or in any profession really)-Even for Anne Geddes- is Glamourous, Exciting and "Sexy": sometimes it is crying babies that need their diapers changed.

I had the honor of supporting Anne in her launch of her beautiful line of baby clothing here in Washington ( as her fulfillment provider ) and her attention to every detail, their willingness to share their commitment to an unforgettable experience for every customer - it was such a pleasure to see the magic on the photography side of the business that I never had the opportunity to witness. Pure perfection, and thank you so much for sharing. Best to Anne and Kel! Michelle Harden

Watched the first day of this event and it was very different than other creative live workshops. Different is sometimes good and sometimes bad, this session was just that good and bad. It really lacked the teaching aspect, they did not go over her equipment, basic camera and lighting settings used to create the look she wants in her images etc...The lady who was interviewing her was terrible Anne seemed really open to share but the questions were very poor and lacked follow up and really diving into what Anne was doing. It was really neat to get to watch her work, she has an amazing personality that really is soft and kind and it showed in the way she worked with the parents, babies, and her team. It was a great overview of how she approaches the studio and a project and the detail that goes into making a top notch image. It is however weak on giving you the info strait up on how to improve your own work. If you want to see what it's like to work with a big team on a major project this is a great workshop. If you want technical teaching it is not so great.
