Adding Clear Gesso for Doodling
So now I'm going to put the clear just so line helps if I have something to put on, it looks white it's not it's going to dry clear the thicker you put on those the clear becomes more of an opaque clear rather than just super clear. The thing about the clear just so is what it's going to provide us with is a base to do the line that's got some great to its kind when it dries it's a little bit gritty, not like a sheer smooth surface, and what that does is it allows it again prep that surface to take the media that we're going to put to it, which will be the doodling with the pen um, when we come back after break, so what we'll do is when you're doing this because this does we talked about the fact that this does we're backto water even after it's dry, I'm going to start on the edge and do the edge first I'm going to do the middle next, and then I'm gonna do the part with the color so that hopefully if any color moves, it stays within that space right there we're just going to kind of wh...
iteley pant us on and again you can cheat if you put this on thin enough, you can cheat with your heat gun and dry it or you could just let it air dry if you've got the time and the willpower but I don't have usually to do that we'll move into the center do that and what's cool about clear jess so is then if you really wanted to you could do another color and then it wouldn't interfere with that color so you can use it as a buffer between layers if you really wanted to dio lots of different colors without diluting necessarily everything underneath it's kind of seal it in but it's also then a prepped surface that will take the color better than the deck a posh surface does which is kind of cool not getting too much spearing so that's good it's right under that and then we're going to dry this layer now if you get to this point you're like, oh, I really wish I'd added more in you guys could do that too and then just steal it again so after you do this if some of the color like right here some of the color kind of came up so I'll actually do it myself and add a little bit back in because I wanted to be a little bit darker right there so now it's just kind of that playing that game of getting it so the vibrancy and to the color that you wanted to be so I'm cheating he gunning a dry and all of these products are in the supply list online so it's easy to figure out what we're and find what we're using I just love how some of them are super bright some of them are very pale there's like a nice mix of what you guys are doing man looks very easter eggy right now not sure why, but it does so I want to add a little color back in on my and I think which is easy enough to deal and again, you know we're using you know you asked about the brush and whether that we could use water and stuff what's nice about projects like this is you know you can use what you have a lot of times and a lot of times my supplies or things like phone brushes and stuff that's not super expensive baby wipes, you know, stuff like that something around purple back out here just going to put a little bit back in there and what you can even do is almost dio un hombre look and just kind of great it up or down if you want and just kind of add that back in two a little there it's not quite you don't get the just so quite dry a little bit of it may come up, but this point is just about adding in a little bit more color so I'm ok with that what you will notice a ziff you spread it now after you put the clear just someone if you try to spread it out here, that color is not going to fade away it's going to stay just because it's now prepped for color to go on so the drying that we're going to do now is like the most important part of this, so we'll get the jess oh the clear just a line and we'll dry really, really good and then it'll be time for us to take a break and then when we come back from break, hopefully it is so dry that we are good to go because we're going to doodle on top of this and we don't want tio try to do that on a wet surface we want to make sure everything's nice and dry that our pen doesn't get clogged up so I'm just gonna put me next round of clear jess oh back are in there to cover up the new color that I just put down and dry it again how are we feeling, guys good to see different colors going on, you know and that's. So funny idea that you like it's just one of those things you find what you like to use, whether it's your fingers and the baby wipe, whether it's the water brush some people really like to use the artist's brush is to do it and I'm just more like scribble it on there give me a baby wipe and let me have fun if you want baby wipes you can even use a white paper towels that'll work too it's just a matter of the water pulling it off so if you don't have baby waves are wet ones or anything like that around you can use the web paper tell to get the same the same result couldn't mentally prepare yourselves for the scariest portion of the afternoon which will be doodling by hand so it's very easy lots of fun I never got into those entangles at all and all that was a big thing and so is a big thing I just never got into that I love to do it all but just doing my own like my own version I find it very therapeutic to just pick up a pen and start to do it all so we're gonna do some doodling basics once this jess oh is extremely dry and when we come back your arrows will all magically be dry with paper playing amazing how fast it happens well you know I mentioned earlier could put paper plate in the in the oven and I don't think there's even directions for it necessarily on packaging but I usually just do like a two hundred degree oven really so that it more than anything it's not really warm but it's a very dry arid space for it to just dry out faster so I'll turn on the oven and two hundred very very low heat and just I put it on parchment paper right on tio, making she like I would cushy and just let it sit in there for an hour. So depending on how thick it is, I've got a really thick piece. I might leave it in there a little bit longer with the night, turn off the heat and just let it sit in there until it's dry like overnight. So because what that does is just I live in a very humid climate and the stuff just takes, especially in the summertime it's really hard to get stuff to dry, so that helps a lot with stuff like that. If you ever use that cloud, clay wow, it's like super lightweight air dry. I wondered if that might be too late. I don't know what I like the paper claim because I do a lot of paint on it on it takes like all the paints and the gel otto's and all that stuff really well. So that's why I use it because it's basically, you know painting on paper when it's tine but have not tried the cloud play for this.
