Use Product Videos to Increase Sales
So let's talk about product video, so why should you use video? Well, I'm going to share with you some more statistics in just a second byproduct. Videos are much more likely to increase your convent conversions than anything else on your website, even your home page, even your about paige, even your product descriptions and product photos. If you have video, people are more likely to buy from you, and they really reassure your visitors that they're making uninformed decision because if they can see you, if they can see the product, if they can know your story, whatever your videos about they get, they feel like they know you more than if they were just to read something so again, both are important, but if you want to go a step above and beyond, and if you want to really stand out from all of the other people that are selling jewelry similar that's similar to yours or making told bags or soaps, you've really wantto seriously think about product videos, and it also really helps to buil...
d their trust because they can see you, they feel like there's, a human behind your business and it's, not just the product, and it really, really helps. So yes, I have another thing with video I've been thinking about this for a long time for each of my products to create just a little little video because it can share your story of how you created and why you create that you can put so much more across exactly yes yes and especially if you're someone who is really great on video I know some of us it's easier for us to talk than it is to write I know I hate writing but when I talk I actually could get my point across a little better so you don't have to be great on video but if you could just have someone ask you a question and they record your answer rather than just saying ok I need to shoot a video and you get already and you start talking but just ask someone to ask you hey why is your product awesome? Why should someone by and you're just like having a conversation with them and answering their question your video is going to come across so much better if video is not the thing that you're really good at so there's a ton of things you could d'oh to make your video is better but yes I totally agree with you yes yeah thank you for for mentioning that as well um and then I also talked about how video boosts asio so google loves video they own you too if you have a video on your website and hosted on youtube you're probably going to have your surgeries your page come up higher in search results then if that page had no video and we all want more people to come to our website because there's two parts of selling more online you have to have a website that people come to but then once people come to europe side you have to convert them into buyers because they're not going to buy right away and it really is your job tio sort of walked them along that path to becoming customers and video is a great way to do that so this is a study and I'm going to share with you a couple more studies but two thousand nine study found that pages with video are fifty three times more likely to rank on the first page of google search results so a lot of people worry about a ceo on there like how can I get my my product page or my website to be first and google adding a video is a great and a super easy way to do that all right so another study shows that a consumer who views a product video is up to one hundred forty four percent times more likely to add that product to her card then a consumer who watches no video again those are huge percentages it's not just one percent or two percent although sometimes one percent or two percent could be a huge difference to but this is crazy just to think about this but it just works subconsciously were people are taking action, they're investing their time and you and when someone feels like they're invested in you, they're more likely to become a customer and actually take out their credit card and pay for that product. So if I have one, you'd convince you that video is the way to go. Here is another thing that I want to share with you, so sales have. This is a study that was done by e consultancy dot com, and sales increased between six and thirty percent for items that included video and product demos for his apple. So I know if you've bought anything from zappos, you'll see that they have video almost for every product that they sell on there and it's, super simple, like they'll take a boot, you know, and there's just someone who works there that has the boot, they show you how it bends, they put it on, and it really it could be so some no one talks in those videos, they no one says, or sometimes they do, I think, where they should tell you the name of the boot, but simply by I'm just taking the boot, showing you how it bends and how it folds and how they unzip it and all of those things and all of their videos, I think, are under a minute or so. It has made a huge difference in their sales and again nothing fancy no crazy equipment that you have to have you khun literally demonstrate how to use your product even without saying anything yes, so how important if you're more of a high end brand? Do you think the quality of that type of videos? Yeah, I think if you're the high end brand quality is really important because you are trying to convince people to pay more and if you invest more on your and then they're going to be willing to invest more and you so I do think it's important if you are a higher and brand to invest in videos and in product photos because a little more than pay off for it self and you might not see the return maybe the first day when you have your video, but over time you definitely will see a huge return on that investment so especially important if you have a higher and brand okay, so another study says that fifty two percent of consumers said that watching product video makes them feel more confident about going ahead and making a purchase and what we all want to do is make people be confident we want to build trust I've talked about that from the first session here about building trust, building credibility, having social proof and really getting people to believe in you and video is such a great way to do that but again it shouldn't be the only thing that you have on your upside it should be part of your overall strategy part of your overall picture when it comes to how you are portraying your brand and how you taking the customer tio to come from your home page to your about page to your product page and then hopefully to the checkout page so that's what our goal should be as we move along the customer through our website so here are a few ideas if you don't like to get up there and talk about your products and beyond video I know a lot of us don't you can have a how to guide using your product and literally doesn't have to be your face you could just show it on the table you know show how it folds or how you put it on or how you on packet or whatever it is that your product is you don't have to be in it you can just show someone using it or just show your hands using it but obviously yes if you are in it that builds even more credibility but even if you're not in it it still works better than having no video at all you can also use videos to do behind the scenes and share your story so like elizabeth was saying with her silks she's showing a little bit about how this was created she talks about why should chose these different colors she shows you know yourself painting the silk and it's so engaging to watch and it's fun you know, it's, it makes you stand out. You really realize that not just the soap that so much went into creating this and if so much goes into it you're already thinking the value is higher so you can charge a higher price so which I think is why your silks are doing so well, yeah, because you really are showing the process and what it takes and it's not just a silk, that you you know, you duncan in a little tub of dies or whatever, take it out and that's it like there's so much that goes into it and because you share that people are willing to pay more so um yeah, video is really just such a great way to to do that and to share your story as well. You can also we talked about customer testimonials before, but you can also get your customers to rave about your products. And instead of just saying, oh, can you give us a testimonial? What if you ask them, hey, what do you like most about my product or how do you feel when you use it so saying things like that rather than just saying please send us your testimonial right? That doesn't really again it just makes it harder for them to think about all what should I say or or what should I do? But if you just say can you please let us know what did what's the one thing you love most or why did you buy this and that way forgive them a specific question makes their job so much easier and they're much more likely to, um to actually shoot a video and do that yes um I'm just thinking about, you know, the going from the my amazon reviews that I have on their tio teo bring them to a website that I'm creating now do you think it's ok for because all my products right now and I'm amazon on a full time seller there? Do you think it's ok to bring some of those reviews into my website that I'm creating now? Yeah, I think that's finally fine as long as you maybe have a little heading above your reviews that says here somewhere are reviews from amazon customers or something like that I think you can do that and you probably should do that but just have a disclaimer there that you and I know with amazon usually and I don't know if this is true for all of you but when I buy something I've read the reviews first even before I read the product description, I look at the reviews how many of us do that right? A lot of you're shaking your head so we're going to talk about reviews in just a second but those are huge when it comes to building trust getting people to take action and to actually buy yeah did you have a question only have an app on my store that when after somebody's bought something two weeks later they'll get an email to ask them you know a review its yes and that's awesome we should all have all of that in place again it could be a whole course on email marketing and howto really engaged but it's such a great way to not only build trust and engage with your customer after the fact but it really shows them that you care that you follow up but it also gives you something return when you get a really awesome testimonial or a review from it so I'm glad you mentioned that and it's a great thing to do yeah there's something else I have learned from you as well which is when you get e mails from people when they say they like something or get something good to say to put it in an excel sheet yes yes so what I do is someone right back and they'll say, oh, I loved your course or I learned so much from this or you know, I gave yourself to my mom and she absolutely loved it if I feel like it's something that I could use in a testimonial first I have a little excel spreadsheet that I, you know, have their name and their testimonial and then I'll reply back to the email and I'll say, oh, thank you so much for sharing that would it be ok with you if I put that on our testimonials page and it's not making them do any extra work? You're getting their permission and they feel like they're being heard and you're benefiting because you have now a new testimony so it's like really everyone wins there's there's no reason why we should shouldn't all be doing this and I'm sure all of you get e mails all the time from people saying I just got this and I loved it thank you so much so just even something like that simple just write back and say, can I use this as a testimonial and keep a handy spreadsheet of because sometimes I don't have time to put it up on my web site right away, but I do have the time to write back and say, can I use this so if you have a spreadsheet it just makes it easier when you do have the time to put them up on your website so thank you for bringing that up via the other thing you can do is a product demo so again, this is sort of similar with a how to guide, but if you want to take your product and again, it depends on the product that you have because not every product lends itself to a demo for example, a soap wouldn't really lend itself to a demo, but other products dio so if you could do a little demo of how your product it's work, how someone should use them are opened them or what they can do with them and just put that on your product page, it just gives you that much more credibility it creates engagement and it could on ly help to increase your sales. So keep in mind as you're creating your videos definitely keep them short, I would say, for your product pages, keep them under a minute if possible, but for your home page and you're about paige, keep your videos underthe three minutes and then also create videos that reflect your branding. If you have let's, say a fuse using purple and yellow as your color scheme throughout your videos, make sure that you bring those colors and your branding into your videos as well, whether that means adding your logo or maybe having your title card on your video with those colors but keep your branding in mind too as you're creating this video's and add a call to action. In your video. We talked a lot about calls to action, and I can't stress enough how important it is to tell people what it is you want them to do next, so after they watch your video, if they made it all the way to the end, what is it that you want them to do? Do you want? Do you want them to add two cards and click the acts of car button? Do you want them to contact you for more information about how you can customize it? What do you want them to do after they watched that video? It's obvious, but it's really important to d'oh?
