There's one other feature that is good for designers and if a photographer happens to get stuck in it they're going to be annoying so let's take a look if I go into my preferences there is a choice called technology previews and if I choose technology previews this comes up there's a choice called enabled design space designed space is only for designers people that do interface design mainly and web design but if you choose enable design space and click ok it's going to send you into a different interface and it will try to be cute sea and say hi and try to tell you what it's about I'm going to skip over what these things tell you too show you in general what it does but what is trying to do is give you a simplified interface where it removes most of the clutter that's found in photo shop because photoshopped can be overwhelming for some people and if you're just a designer creating buttons and texts and things you don't need all these normal features and father shop so when you go in...
to what's known as designed space you're prevent presented with a total of five tools you have a move tool up here you have a rectangle tool you have an oval tool or they'll call it the ellipse upend toe in a text tool and so if you want to quickly create things you could grab the rectangle tool and try to draw out your rectangles you can choose the color you want here with your fill and getting various settings you want you have your stroke settings down here you can add drop shadows in inner shadows and up here you can specify width and height there's a couple things that are different about these and that is unlike in the main area of photo shop if you have any numbers that appear in here, you can type in math like two hundred divided by five and it'll do the math for you. So if you wanted to take an area you know it's going to be five hundred pixels wide, he need four boxes across it. You could do some simple math in there to control the sizes of things at the very top you have a lineman options, but these choices will change based on what tool you have. So if you switch to the type tool and you actually click on your image to add some text, I'm not sure why the minds not actually showing up, but if you add some text over here, this will change the on ly shou settings that relate to text and then if you switch back to one of the shape tools, it will change the on ly show you settings related to those shapes, but I find that sometimes this acts a little bit weirdly in that sometimes they draw shaping it won't show up on I have to double check over here that I have the right colors in strokes assigned but again, this is just for designers. I'm not a designer and so it's not something I use daily, but what I want to show is if you ever get into it, how the heck to get back to photo shop? Because we only have five tools here we have such a minimal interface that it's hard to see well, here's, how you do it near the lower right you're going to find this magical little icon if you click that icon that's, what sends you back to the full version of photo shop? And if I had enough space on my screen, there would be a similar icon down here at the bottom of my tool panel, but with the broadcast that we're using right now, it limits the size of my screen you can actually see the little is hint of it. When I moved my mouse down there, can you see a little edge? Well, that would send me back into the design space, and so there it is, it's actually showing up now, becca and so if you want to switch back fourth, you can switch their tio actually a little bit below there to go back to the design space or click on the icon you found near the lower right. You can also go to, I believe, it's the window where view menu right here to go design space, but for photographers, if you ever, ever accidentally get in there, it's the icon near the bottom right of your screen to get out. In order to make that work, you have to go to preferences, technology, previews and that's where you can enable design space. So as you can tell, I'm not a designer, and so therefore those aren't settings that I used typically and that's why we created this quite ugly picture. But for those of you that are, it might give you an idea of where you want to explore to make a simplified interface. So if you look at what we've covered here today, we've done a pretty interesting tour. We started out in light room, and we lets her quite a bit of light room. We had it where we can combine multiple images and hdr weaken stitch panoramas. We can more quickly tagged the names of peoples on photographs, and we explored looking through all sorts of little features him your preferences, places where we can hold down special keys like the shift key when clicking on things to get special options like that little spray can things that weren't overly discoverable we also went in a photo shop and looked for those tiny little changes they've made as well as the big changes, but these are the changes they've made since sisi came out and what you find is as new features come out, they're not always the easiest things to find so it's nice to be able to tune in and have somebody else kind of tour you around those features. And so I hope that this has been a little bit of an update from the other classes I have had in the past where if you wanted to see some of the new features, we didn't have a chance to cover in those glasses because either they didn't exist or they just didn't align with those classes now, you know, and it's filled in some of the gaps in your knowledge, uh, questions, comments? No, I think that people are just really enjoying all of this content had no idea there was so much so many new features that came out was really helpful to a lot of people out there and a final thoughts from any of our students here you have a question. I'm just curious on content, aware between six and sisi, has there been any kind of improvement on that are in content where phil, I know in a lot of the retouching tools like the what's it called the healing brushing the spot healing brush there's been considerable changes for instance they used to never do a good job on working on the edge of a document now they do fine content where phil does have I think a couple new features and the main one would be there's a check box to try to make it more accurately match the colors in the surrounding image so if you ever do continent where phil from edit film you'll find a new check box in there that I can't remove the wording but it's something about matching color so if you ever trying to like move ah get rid of a cloud in the sky and when you're done and just seems like you can see the old spot, you'll find a new check box that can improve it s o the retouching tools have changed they've improved and the ones that didn't used to work well on the edges of documents like if I tried to remove this medal stuff on the edge that would usually be healing brushing spot healing brush they now can handle that so there's a lot of little improvements behind the scenes I'd like to make a comment that the one question the big question that I had when I came here was why would I wantto create when I can already do everything I want to do and now I know and I will be signing up for the cloud uh, not the least of which is the perspective work tool, because I have done some composites word that was an issue, and it was a major issue for me to solve that, and that looks so much easier. So, thanks very much. You showed me the importance of finding out about what I can do that I didn't even know. Yeah, that's, that's the thing is, I try to stay up to date with the newest version of photo shop, because I find even a small change that they've made it can often dramatically improve the speed at which I do things, and then I could spend more time out shooting. The main thing, though, is you got to figure out where those features hidden and how do you go about using them and that's where creative live, you know, tune in and and you can learn about all mall. So yeah, well, you know, I have to read some comments that came in the last segment kathy has been watching all day. She says ben is great. You can tell that he really knows his stuff and toto's has been is the best instructor ever at creative live. Not a moment on themselves, not a moment on promoting this or that mainly teaching all that is very help. Got to "know" Ben during Photoshop Week and a few other courses. He has consistently been one of my favorite Photoshop instructors. I just purchased this course today and it's wonderful. Ben is one of the best Photoshop instructors I've encountered. I had purchased the complete Mastery course and this one is a welcome addition since it covers new features. Even though Photoshop and Lightroom will continue to evolve, the basic techniques and tools used are basically the same, so I find myself going back to the mastery course if I hit a bump along the way. Ben's knowledge is second to none, but his true gift is the ability to transmit all that knowledge in bite size and understandable portions that are never boring. Someday I will have the privilege to know him personally, in the meantime I will continue to buy his courses as they come out. Such a wealth of information. Thanks Ben and CreativeLive!
