Then let's, get out of light room and let's get into photo shop and in photo shop usually the first place I go if I don't use light room is k meron and there's one setting that I find a lot of people get confused about, so I'd like to cover it before we jump into the main area of photos show I'm going to open a raw file and the part I find people get confused about is there are some icons in the lower right some changes are new and here and others are I've been there for a while, but I find there's a lot of people that just aren't completely comfortable using those go over a little bit about what they do let's make some changes to this image because right now we're a default settings all make the image more colorful maybe I'll change my white balance to make it warmer or cooler whenever I like clarity maybe bring out little shattered eat I'm just doing something so that the image looks different than the original. Now down there where those icons are the icon on the far right he is goi...
ng to take just the panel you're working on just the tab you're working on over here and if I click on it it's going to show you what it would look like with default settings in fact you'll see all the sliders went to their defaults if I click it again it'll then show me the result of the changes I've made so if you ever want to preview the changes you've made before and after for whatever tab you're working on the icon on the right we'll let you do that the other icons the icon of the far left if I click on it it's going to show me a split view before and after where the before image with the default settings is on the left side the after is on the right and I'm not stuck with that setting I can click and hold on that icon in choose between these various layouts single view issue means no before and after view at all where I could split the image in half where you see it not two copies of it but one copy split in half that's everything he go to single view you're back to just your after version well let's look at seeing those side by side and here's one way that could be useful and that is we have some additional icons in the middle here let's see what they do well let's say that I don't want to think all the way back to the absolute unadjusted original instead I want to think of this version I currently have as my original well I can take this arrow right here in push it to the left if I click that it'll push it to the left so now the two sides look identical cause I haven't moved my sliders around and now I'm going to make additional changes to the image maybe I come in here and I don't know come over too this and converted to black and white and I'm just comparing the color to black and white version and I'm going to find tune this image and see that may be the blue skies not dark enough so that tells me to go to blues and adjust it whatever it is but I might find it useful to compare the two where the one on the left is not the original instead it's some other version and all I had to do to get it so it's not the absolute original issues that left arrow but then I get to this stage and I'm like, yeah, okay, I like that black and white conversion let's treat that is the original now and so I hit that arrow to the left again to push it to the left and now maybe a further adjusted I go to this thing called split tony and in split toning, maybe I make my highlights kind of orange ish and I make my shadows kind of bluish not not so purple little more blew it and I can compare that to the straight black and white to see which one I like better but at this point, I'm like, no, I don't like this version. I like what it looked like before. Well, that's, when you come down here in the bottom and there's one with two arrows, two arrows means switch what is considered before and after. So swap the position of those two and consider that tone one the one that had the tinting on it, to be the before, and maybe I'm going to try a different kind of toning. Maybe in this one, I'm in instead, try the opposite. I'll put blue in the highlights in yellow in the shadows and see which one of those two I like better. And I just want to make sure that whichever one I want to end up with it ends up on this side called after song, and I like the one on the left, so I'm gonna hit the double arrow to get it on there as long as this is the one I want. When I get out of this view, go to single view. That's what I'll end up with but I find a lot of people get confused about those icons and I find the either don't use them where they wonder where the old features were that they used to have he used to be a preview check box at the top and other things well, they replaced them with those quite some time ago and I want to make sure everybody knew how tio think about it any general questions about those those buttons in light room another's buttons aren't in light room instead in light room we have other choices do you see in light room it's a little different we have this in that if I click on it we're giving a pop up menu will give me the same general layout choices but you're not going to have the exact same here we have pushed the left and push the rightist separates and swap so it's similar but it's not identical but you will find them they'll be at the bottom of the developed module and to get out of that view there's an icon on the left this means just show me the single image eso similar but not exactly the same the bottom when you're in the developed module and if you don't see them there that's that bar at the bottom is called the toolbar if it's not there go to your view menu and here I could hide the toolbar or I can show it. So if you happen to go there and you don't find the bar at the bottom, go to the view menu. Tio, locate that.

I just purchased this course today and it's wonderful. Ben is one of the best Photoshop instructors I've encountered. I had purchased the complete Mastery course and this one is a welcome addition since it covers new features. Even though Photoshop and Lightroom will continue to evolve, the basic techniques and tools used are basically the same, so I find myself going back to the mastery course if I hit a bump along the way. Ben's knowledge is second to none, but his true gift is the ability to transmit all that knowledge in bite size and understandable portions that are never boring.
