Font & Text Tips Tricks
Alright, it is tips and tricks. Time for working with type and fonts. First up I want you to grab a copy of this heading one in white, we're going to stick it over our hair box and we're gonna do a couple of things, we're gonna make sure it's centered so when we type I'm cheating and I've copied and pasted it already. Okay, so type that in, you can type whatever you like, hub to host and manage your online courses in terms of font size member, we should be working at command one or control one, so we know it's kind of the right size if you're finding it's not fitting in, you can close that down by just clicking the the icon kind of twice pushes it in a couple of things. First one is easy one with it selected with my black arrow, there is a shadow, you can decide on the kind of shadow you want by changing it both down here. Okay, and the transparency of the shadow as well. So I'm going to go somewhere like this and I like to have a very little blur and very little kind of offset. Do you...
see that kind of drop shadow works for me so straight down and just a really tiny blur and you can just lower this depending on the background. Okay, I wanted to lift off so you know, weight against that light background is not great. Anyway, that's drop shadows. A couple little tips and tricks is let's say I want to make this bold. I just double clicked it with my black arrow and it's highlighted it. If you hit command be just goes bold. That's true. And lots of web processes works in Photoshop Microsoft word. Just command B If you're on a pc, it's control be a few of the other ones work as well. Command I or control I for italics. Try the U. It's up to you. I'm putting all this in just because I want to show you the tricks. Hmm Would I leave it in there? Normally? Probably not the underlying so command you or control you on a pc and want this to kind of be there. Oh, it's a hub. You mean hub? It's the most important thing for this particular product. Other things you can do over here is let's say that you're, you want it to be different font size. Okay, so I've just clicked in here, you can use your up and down arrows, you can see that instead of like typing them in every time you can just go up and down. If you hold shift and use your up and down arrows, can you see it jumps in chunks of 10? So that works for both fonts? I'm gonna put it back to 40. It also works for sizes as well. So if I draw my rectangle, grab this guy, I want to make him a bit bigger if I click in here and use my up arrow. Can you see this adds pixels and you can kind of see him over here getting wider. I'll move it closer so you can see So up and down and then shift so any of these measurements rotation you can kind of move it up one by just clicking your up and down. Arrow curses on your keyboard. Hold shift to multiply it by 10 whatever it's doing. Um I don't need to undo that like I'll leave it that way because I don't have to undo like a million times. Another little trick for font sizes instead of using that and going up and down. I guess I wanted to show you that because you can do it for lots of different any fields that requires. Can you see um you can just use it up and down for fonso specifically. There's a nice little trick where you hit command shift so hold control shift on a pc and if you look down your keyboard you've got your greater than and less than keys or often the doubled up with your period or full stop and your comic keys next to the M key. I think I've over explained that one but it allows you to go up and down with font sizes. I use this quite a bit through all the adobe products so you grab something you're not quite sure you're like that's a bit big command shift or control shift and use your comma to go down or period or full stop whatever you call it to go up. Okay. I find that's just a nice like visual way of doing it. A couple little things I want to show you before I go is over here. I didn't create like I need this generic body copy thing. So at the moment it's point text. I wanted to be area text and drag it out and I'm gonna fill it with placeholder stuff just because I don't want to reiterate once you paste too much in there and I click off, remember that little dot that indicates that there's more to go. I just want some just basic body copy so I can use throughout my goings on and I'm just going to double check it's got the right size. I've got the right spacing. If you want to use a space after you can put it in here. I'm unsurprisingly going to use eight and that's just the space between paragraphs, which happens. You see there's just a bigger gap between paragraphs versus between lines. Tell you that up. Great. Now we did it in the last video with the character styles. I just want to quickly show you another example, especially when we're dealing with those. Do we have still open? I don't, I'm going to open up the was from our desktop. It was where was it? There? It is there. Remember our wireframe, we just used aerial through it and you're like, man, I wish I could just use open sans, just something slightly better than Ariel. Really easy thing to do is grab it. And because we've used this consistently can open up my assets panel and say add the character styles, right, click it, edit it and say actually you, my friend now are Roboto, you can see, it's a little hard to see because it's not very big change. I'll change into something even better brush script. Here we go. Okay, so we've gone through and we've changed that font because it's consistent through it all. It's gone through and changed to brush script. My absolute font and all font land. Unfortunately, you got to go back to something like Ariel or Roboto. Open sands or source sands is another good one. I've started using one called Karma. I really like everyone from google fonts and that's it for my tips and tricks. Let's get into the next video

Thank you, Dan Scott, for providing such a beautiful Adobe XD course. I completed the course today and noticed a couple of things that are missing. I want to share them here so that you can upgrade the course, which would be helpful for us. Hover state and toggle state. Dragging pages from 1-2 to 2-3 and then back from 3-2 to 2-1 with dragging is not working. Another thing is that we learned scrolling the website from top to bottom, but scrolling or pushing things from right to left has been completely omitted. These are the things I have noticed, and I would like you to upgrade them so that we can improve our Adobe XD skills.
