A Great Website is Convenient

the next thing to consider is creating a website that offers ease and convenience for your customers. More than ever, consumers look for convenience when they're shopping. Homeland shopping continues to grow from mobile and this train has become even more pronounced in 2020 since the pandemic on set, more than a quarter of online shoppers are using their mobile devices, You know, ranging as high as 44% for grocery, even though many of them have had, you know near constant access to their own computers. This also includes mobile apps. Right? So google searches for online shopping app, download Globally, grew over 300% year over year. So in order to make the most of this trend, your website must be convenient on all devices. So your first goal is to make it easier for people to use the website on the small screen. All right. So let's talk about six ways you can make your website easy to use and more convenient for customers. First use a responsive design. This means that your website lay...

out responds to the device that's being used. A fluid design that adapts to the screen size. The goal is to make it just as easy to use your website on the phone as it is to use in a desktop computer. So as you either build or rebuild your website, you want to try a mobile first approach instead of testing your site on a desktop computer. Start by testing on a phone. So for example, navigation is a critical right? It's critical and it's super important. So design your site to allow plenty of space for users the tap. Right. So think of mobile visitors trying to navigate your site if your site includes a colder action or C. T. A. Make it capable. Right. So think about making it capital linking direct visitors directly to the content they actually want to access. And this is little technical but worth discussing with your website designers. If you don't understand the jargon but try using vector graphics, they load quickly and can be sized up and down without losing inequality compares to raster graphics like the apex gifts or P and G. S. And also use the when in doubt less is more a clean minimalist design may make it easier for visitors to complete actions on your site and last but not least designed a site for everyone. Uh So when you talk about following accessibility standards so people with disabilities who may have assistive technology can more easy and readily accessible by pages. All right, so let's take a moment and try a brief activity. If you have a phone handy search on your own website or a site that you use a lot on the computer. How quickly did a load, how does it look? Try to navigate around? Is it difficult to navigate around If this is your website, start making a list of potential improvements for the mobile site, visitor? Mm hmm. Mhm. Yeah. Yeah. Uh huh. Uh huh. Mhm. Okay mm hmm. Alright. So second make it easy to buy stuff on your site. And of course if this applies to our e commerce people. Uh So how many of you are actually visited? A website, tried to buy something but got stumped during the checkout process and then just bailed a difficult checkout process can have a major impact on your site's conversion rate. So here's some things that you can do to make it easier for visitors to complete purchases on your site. So first things first reduce the number of steps in the checkout process. Less is more. Second show a visitor their progress as they move through the checkout. This lets them know I'm on how much you have left to do and when they're actually almost done and please offer guests check out for visitors. I nobody wants people to register but you don't want to lose out on that potential sale. So if they don't want to create an account to make that purchase great. Give them their ability to check out as a guest. And then after the transaction is complete you can have the ability to or from the option to create an account for next time. And also give people choices right? When we talk about payment or from multiple payment options in digital knowledge such as google pay. Mm hmm. Alright. Next make it easy for customers to find and buy other things they need even if they don't need it yet. Right. Uh If implements well related product recommendations will encourage customers to add more products to their shopping cards. So you can talk to your web developer about ways to a related product recommendations to your site, But recommendations might be based on customers only purchase history, the products that are currently viewing or products that complement the items in the shopping cart. So things like, for example, if someone added a jar of jam to the car, right? The website might suggest a specialty size jam spoon. All right. Would you be like a nice little touch if you're giving it as a gift? If you sell like a product that requires separate components, for example, batteries that are sold separately. This is another opportunity uh that you can actually take to make an additional product suggestion. So your goal really is when you think about it, is to make it convenient for customers to find everything they need on your site without any extra effort. Yeah. Finally, try to find ways to make shopping more convenient, whether it's online or offline. For example, a restaurant may not offer curbside pickup and let people know about this on their website. Uh An e commerce site might offer multiple options for shipping and delivery, you know, free shipping with minimum, you know, with the minimum order. Uh And service providers might offer virtual options allowing customers to continue being customers from the convenience of their own homes. All right, these are just a few general ideas to consider as you design a website that meets your customers needs.
