About the Vlog Format
So the next format is a vlog, and a vlog, it's short for, well like, (giggles) blog, a video blog, and blog is short for weblog. So it's really just the idea of a video journal. The person who asked the question earlier about how to not have her own face on camera, this is one way of doing it, where you turn the camera around and you show your world. So when I travel to teach I'll often take videos of like, being on the train, or the airplane taking off, and then combine it with videos. I'm a do a video of all you lovely people and put that all together into like a log of my trip, like a travel journal. But you don't have to do it when you travel, you can do it in your life, you can do it in your studio as you're making the thing. You can do it as you're working with clients and customers. It is really great if you, are like, I don't know what I'd talk about but people always ask me what my life is like. Or your customers always ask you what your life is like. It doesn't really matter ...
if your friends think you're interesting, it's do your customers think you're interesting. Remember earlier I said, "You don't have to be the expert, you can learn in real time?" They're especially great to show you learning in real time. Like, hey, "I got this stack of books because I'm learning how to do YouTube for my business. So this is my stack of books and, hey, I just read this book and this is what I learned, or I read this book and this is what I learned." If that's something your audience is into they're gonna really love watching you learn. Now it can be a technology or a software that you're learning, it can be how to do your craft that you're learning, it could be, like for your person whose developing an app it could be someone learning how to use the app, or how to constantly improve the app, based on customer feedback. That's what I mean learning in real time. Whatever you're, whatever journey you're going on you're people can see it in a vlog. And, an interesting life, so everybody's life is really interesting to people who aren't living it. So, like, I think all of you probably live in the Bay area, I live in rural Tennessee, in the Appalachia Mountains, so, anything about your life is going to be really interesting to me 'cause it's not something I see everyday. Like how in the world do you navigate the city, and not get totally exhausted? Like, where are the best places to eat? Where do you find good vegan food? These are all things I want to see. And, when you're showing that, you're building trust, and you're like letting people into your life, and they really love that. So everybody's life is way more interesting than they think. And the vlog is really great for if you're gonna be comfortable just being imperfect, so like, if you spill coffee on yourself and your gonna, like, not die a million deaths, a vlog is for you. If you are really concerned about always seeming put together, maybe not so much, 'cause it'll, you'll be a little stiff. The real thing with those is that they are regularly connecting with your audience of potential customers, and if you're aiming them specifically at what your customers want to hear about, they're going to, they're going to keep tuning in and then you're gonna mention your product at the end, which we'll talk about. You're gonna do a call to action, and also, just them seeing, especially in a vlog, them seeing you work on your business, day in and day out, is gonna be a constant reminder, right? So, I don't have a, really I don't do very many vlog styles at all, but when I do and I mention that I'm traveling to teach, people get that that's my business. Whereas, if I don't ever talk about it nobody has any idea. So the vlog really let's people see, like what is your life, doing what you do, as Stamping Up, like what is that? What does that entail? People are gonna be super interested in that, and because you're gonna be talking about the products you sell, or the services you sell, they're going to realize they could buy it and then you have to tell them where to go. Which we're going to spend a whole segment on, how to get people to back to your website.
