The Unique Brand Trifecta
The unique brand trifecta and this one this one really is my favorite out of all of the ones we've done so far I'm really excited about it. This can help you figure out like what? Your sweet spot what's the thing that really makes you different the first piece is what do you do best? What do you do better then? A lot of other people what makes you unique is the other piece and what are your highest values? So when you're thinking about what you do best, what comes naturally to you what seems to come easier to you than other people? What makes you truly unique? What are people? What do people say about you on a pretty regular basis? Were the words that they used to describe you and what are your highest values? What are the things that you really believe in that kind of define your life? Almost so here is an example of mine teaching would be something that I think I am really good at. I feel like it was almost built into me when I was a kid. I used to beg my mom to take me to the teache...
r supply store because I wanted worksheets and workbooks and gold star stickers I didn't want to go to the toys r us I wanted to go to the teacher supply store so that I could teach my stuffed animals and so I feel like it's kind of built into me it's something I thought I was always going to dio I went to college thinking I'm probably going to be a teacher and then things shifted paths changed, but I figured out a way to make sure that that's a big part of my business whether it's through written block post or videos or teaching courses like this and then people usually say when I asked them what makes me truly unique that I'm a very intense person and it's true, I mean, when I'm preparing for a course like this, I'm staying up until two or three a m I'm getting back up seven or eight and I'm working around the clock, stopping only for meals and to move my body a little bit. I am very intense whenever I'm working on anything in particular and then one of my highest values is building a business around the life that you want to live, and I think that that is really important that's one of the biggest pieces tio building a successful business that I think really matters in the long term, so when I'm working with people, I want to know what's the type of business that's going to make you happy that's going to allow you to do the things that you want to do, so if that's say that's traveling a lot then how are we going to make it so that you are tied down at home for your business that you can travel a lot whatever that isthe so when I pulled all of those things together that's when I do my very best work so like I'm here I'm teaching I've been very intense about it I have been very intense about pulling all of these pieces together and making it work and I bring up this point of building a business around the life you want to live over and over and over again I want to drill it into your heads over it over and over again right? So it starts to define who I am and what I really truly offer and what makes me different than somebody else and I could only do this for people that I know really really well so my examples are mean my and my husband because you have to do it for people you know really well so my one of the things that she does better than anybody is entertained if you guys have seen interviews on my past creative live workshops she's very entertaining or laughing constantly you're excited about it she raises the energy of things immediately her laughter's contagious she just does this really well if you watched the videos on her website she's amazing at this she just is very entertaining then she doesn't think her copy is very good but her way with words that is what she is that's what makes her truly unique she doesn't believe it when I tell her and I'm like, yes, it is that is what makes you truly unique, and if you're watching mei this is what makes you truly unique the way that she puts words together, not just the words that she chooses, but the way that she puts them together. It's like I would never think to say that, and probably nobody else would think of saying that the way that she did, like when she said I used the grandma test for my sales pages, I thought, what, at first you know what? She had to explain it to me. I was thinking, what are you talking about? And then one of her highest values is creativity she's an artist at heart, and so when she pulls all of these things together, she creates something amazing that's when she does her very best work, and then my husband he's a lawyer, so one of the things that he does better than anybody else is come up with creative arguments. His clients are amazed at the arguments that he comes up for them, and so are the judges. Sometimes they're like, I would have never thought of that, but now you're right, one of the one of his qualities that make him truly unique is his ability to instantly connect to people he's got this way about him that he can fit in with anyone anywhere, anytime and I'm so jealous of it he could make anybody laugh within about ten minutes of talking to them. And he just has this instant connection with people and that's why clients like to work with him that's why they come to him as a lawyer because they have this idea of what a lawyer is and then they meet him and he's not that. And then one of his highest values is competition in prestige when it comes to work. So he is extremely competitive and he wants his law firm to be prestigious. And so when he puts all of these things together that's when he does his best work and that's when people come to him, so now it's your turn, what do you do best? What makes you truly unique? What air? Highest values and everybody in the audience I want you to write this stuff down in the chat room, sharing the chat room we want to hear with you from you, and if you're having trouble figuring this stuff out, I have some tips for you first, if you're having trouble with either what you do best, I would ask people, what do you think that I do better than anybody else and you're going to get a lot of overlap then for what makes you truly unique ask them if you could only tell one story about me to somebody who doesn't know me what story would you tell every story I asked this to my husband I asked this to my mom I asked this to some close friends and every single one of them contained something where I was being very intense possibly even a little bit aggressive and assertive and I thought ok wonderful but it kind of it shows you what people who are really close stu what they see and when they tell a story it's something that they're not going to necessarily say to you this is what makes you truly unique and steady you're kind of doing the detective work and figuring it out for yourself but if you ask five people teo tell a story about you to somebody that would never that doesn't know you and they have to introduce you you will see that they all overlap and you'll be able to pull that piece right and I want somebody to come up here and share with a sage coming up here can you grab the flick char thank you hi where can we find you online hi I'm sage at grayson and you can find me at sage grayson dot com tell us a little bit about your business so I am a life editor and so are you. Um, I help ambitious career women and it's their habits, routines and mindsets to balance their happiness at work and home. What do we got thatyou do best? Ok, what I do best is solution finding and determining baby steps or what I like to call life editing little edit, okay, so we've got solution finding baby steps, little ed it's breaking down those big things into things that you can even do just in sixty seconds. Yeah, absolutely. All right, what makes you truly unique? What makes me unique is my authenticity and real nous actually, when I worked with any of my clients, I asked them, well, why did you hire me instead of another coach? Because there's, a lot of other coaches out there and one of my my parrot compliments I ever got from a client, what she said, well, I chose you because you're kind of unpolished on that you started backtracking she's like, wait, I didn't mean it like that, but I love that because I'm I'm not perfect, and if I could do it, they could do it. Somebody who was signing up for one of my courses sent me an email, and she said, one of the reasons that I want to sign up for your courses is because you're not somebody who has one hundred a thousand people following you and so you make it feel more realistic you make it feel like I can actually do this so I get that I get that so the authenticity the real nous ok, anything else for here were good silly I see silly but silly I like it. I share lots of silly stories and my mistakes too, because you can learn from that and these things all go together. Yeah, okay. And what are some of your highest values? My highest values? The thing that I say to my clients more than anything else is bloom where you are planted do what you can right where you are right now give us an example so, um, let's see if you're starting a business and you can't afford a huge cr m like, like infusion soft, which is really cool, but I can't afford that something smaller. I use mad mimi and it works great for me. Um, can if you are working on weight loss and you can't afford a gym or there's no gym by you right now there are plenty of exercise is that you can do at home tons of free youtube videos, so bloom where you're planted, yes, okay nyla uses no excuses, I like it, so when we pull together the fact that you can help people break things down into baby steps that you share the rial stuff that your silly that people can connect with you because of that and then you help them start with where they're at so that they can't make excuses all of those things pulled together don't you think make something truly unique very unique, right? One thing about sage teo, I wonder if there's any way to incorporate this is that every time I think of sage, I think generous, generous with their time generous with her content she just gives you gives you gives you stuff and she's just more concerned about helping you than then about what's in it for her she's just so generous. Yeah, my my freebie on my web site is actually more than thirty six freebies haul together? Yes. Ok. And we had multiple people nodding when yeah, so pulling this in? And this also works with your real nous your helpfulness. All of these things come into play, and the generosity I think is pulled down into here to where you're helping your truly helping people make a difference where they're at and they feel comfortable working with you. I think that's one of the big pieces that comes out of here that that's a little star comes right there all right, yeah, okay, are there any questions for this for this one are we have any questions online? We have some comments we have people who are big stage grace and fans who say their goal is to have sage work with them at some point we also have some people who were sharing some of their examples. Three eighteen media says what I do best. I come up with creative concepts and big ideas brainstorming and storytelling what makes me unique strategy, execution and a sense of humor and the highest values our unbridled creativity no b s no cutting corners, a design mind with an old school work ethic who all of these things, they just they work together. They make you so unique let's do one more of these because I think these air really fun. So I know somebody wants to come up here and do this. Chris, come on up here, bring a mike with you let's, see if we can do better circles this time a little bit better that's. Why? I like his illustrator. I love this. I love vin diagrams like teacher world happy space rate here. All right, all right. So what do we got here that you do best? Um okay, so I teach but that's a really broad term, so I think that what I really do best is I'm able to connect people with ideas by using metaphors so that I can take the idea that's, foreign and created for them in the world. That's theirs. If that makes sense. Yeah, say a little bit more about that. Um, okay, so I went and I did a talk locally to women in business who were just starting out looking at online marketing, and I was talking about it to them as and I used the metaphor that it's you're moving into a new neighborhood and your websites, your home. And I was talking about how you gotta decorate your home, and I was joking about putting together my I ke a couch and my dad had to come and help because it was like, this massive lego, you know that I needed him to help me out with it and stuff. And so I had a whole bunch of people come up to me afterwards and say, when you're talking about the internet and going and doing online marketing is being a neighborhood, and I'm moving into my home, and I have. Neighbours that I want to get to know and there's a coffee shop I can go and talk to them and stuff it makes sense to me and I know how to behave because before you think like online world has different rules but it doesn't it's a community in the same way right so if you can make a metaphor that makes it feel like something you're accustomed to and something in your real world then it makes foreign ideas makes sense to you in your space oh I like it do you guys like that I love that okay all right what do we got here so there at first I had that what makes me truly unique is that I have a story for everything teo fault and I'm sorry kids like anybody who's watching online even who knows me I know I tell stories all the time like why has that happened to me and I'm sorry I can't help it but I think that when you were saying any time that someone's gonna tell a story about you it sort of changed the way I looked at it and the thing that really makes me unique I think is that and maybe this is why I have so many stories is that you put me in any situation and it could be so absurdly ridiculously impossible I just got to go with it and I love it all and so like coming here I came down from canada it was a fairly long flight to start off with and then every single one of my flight scott delayed or stopped or canceled or whatever and it ended up taking me twenty one hours of travel time and I spent a good it was crazy and I spent a good seven or eight minutes having a massive pote about it in the airport and then I started seven or eight but I mean and then I had some coffee and that always really helps and then I started meeting all of these really awesome people and hanging out on like this is hilarious that I took out my k was taking pictures of the year worked with that stuff and it turned into a great story it's like all grist for the mill you know what he means so anytime something ridiculous happens it just like this is going to be the best story later so I think that that's what really makes me unique I think yes all right I love it and you can have you can have more than one thing it's okay to have more than one thing tio okay highest value highest value is that I want girls and women in particular guys I want you to feel it too but I think that girls and women really have to work hard to make ourselves do it is that I want us to stop asking permission to speak in every sense of the word I taught grade nine english for awhile and I remember watching girls at the beginning of the school year being really vivacious and really standing up with their votes voice and feeling like they had space to speak and by the end of that school year just that one year because it's a transition of going from being a girl to being a young woman they were like telling themselves to be quiet and it's not okay so that's the thing that I want to really make my life's work okay, so when we put together all of these the things that you can connect ideas with metaphors and I also believe that ties into story as well, because these metaphors often turn into stories right? And then the ability to just roll with what's going on and the fact that what you really want to do is help girls and women stop asking permission to speak that mole of these things pulled together all of them separate aren't unique, but all of them pulled together make you what's unique make your brand unique, right? So you guys thank you thank you for sharing it around a lot and tell us again where we can find you online on kris with a k at with a k writing dot com something to think about when you are going through all of these modules is that I want you to think about what people can replicate if they really wanted teo what could they copy? What could they take? What could they just make theirs if they felt like it? Almost everything right? Pretty much almost everything I mean people could swipe my coffee people could I mean, I'm gonna go after you don't recite my copy but they could swipe my coffee they could steal my photos they could do red balloon photos they could d'oh my they could take a course and then set up a course similar to it right? But it's not gonna be the same because they can't replicate me I'm the only thing that they can't really copy and replicate there's on ly one of you and just go with whatever you've got I mean whoever you are it's okay? And people will say to me, well, can I actually be myself? And the answer is yes, you are going to find your people you're going to find your tribe, not about tribes earlier, right? Finding your tribe that's how you're going to find your tribe is actually being yourself because if I put on a different face let's say on my block I tried to act like I'm super professional and I'm a business person and I'm always wearing blazers on then I came here to creative live and I was teaching this course you'd be like it doesn't match. I didn't come here for this. This is, you know, it just wouldn't match up. I wouldn't be finding my right people, either. So be you, because it is ok, and you're going to find the right people, even if you think being you is not going to be okay, and we are going, teo continue to dive into that in other modules as well. Do we have any last minute questions yet? So an important part of that, I think, is well, you are yourself against permission to other people, to be themselves as well. So absolutely, I love that.

April, I purchased your class and I love what you have created. The workbook helped me to identify key points that I needed to think about. I have had a business for a while now, and I wanted to give my shop and blog a fresh look. I certainly got exactly what I was looking for in your videos and most of all with your fabulous hand-outs and workbook. Your style is A-dorable and although I am 66 years old, I am never too old to learn something new. April, you will always be successful in everything that you do because your passion is contagious. Thank you. I am sitting here this morning with a notebook and your workbook. You have helped me identify points about my business that I was overlooking. By going through the process, I feel wonderful about my products and have a new outlook. You are amazing! Karen
