Why You?
Why you so we talked a little bit about why your business in particular let's talk about why you're the person to do it why are you the person to sell your products or services so not just why should your customers choose you and choose your business? This is especially helpful for small businesses so if you are you're huge large business than this might not be as helpful but if you're small part a business you only have a small team or you're just one person then knowing this stuff is important so why are you the person this goes into your experience is your job history your education your skills, your strengths and your the lessons that you've learned that have impacted who you are and how you can help others you know I think from listening teo chris talk the lessons that have come out of her life I think she has so much more to give because of the things that she's been through and can help in so many different ways and be that source of kind of strength and motivation for other peo...
ple who feel like they've really screwed up and and how to get past that point I feel like there's so much more because of the experiences that you have that make you the right person for certain people to work with what do you love what you hate so these are just questions that help you get thinking about why you? What makes you different? We're asking all sorts of questions in different ways because sometimes it sparks a little something extra. So I'm the person to help create of entrepreneurs, build successful businesses around the lives they want to lead because I've done it, I know what they go through. I know the fear. I know the overwhelming. I know the excitement. I know the frustration. I know the feeling of waking up in the morning being so excited and then at the end of the day, feeling like you've got nothing done feeling completely overwhelmed and frustrated, feeling like it's never gonna work feeling like, what am I doing this for? Nobody's paying attention? I know all of those feelings I have been there, so when somebody comes to me and they say I'm excited and I love this but I also feel like crap I know what that's like I know what it's like to feel to be on a roller coaster and to feel like this is so exciting. I love my work so much and then also being like, oh, am I gonna have any money and my bank account in a month? This is really scary, I know all of those feelings I've had those experiences, I've been there. I created blacksburg belle I've been a social worker I've taken many online courses I've attended many conferences I'm very hard working I'm driven I'm compassionate I'm intense in tenacious so those are things that make me me and the reason why somebody should choose me in particular all of those pieces on I think my intensity is balanced out by the compassion that I have and so it doesn't make me like super scary to work with hopefully and so I have all these pieces that kind of pull together to make me me and you do too you have all of these different pieces and they go back teo your experience is your job history your education, your skills, your strength, your lessons all of that stuff also I've had a failed launch and I've had many successful launches these air exam lesson examples so I know what it's like to launch something that I've put my heart and soul into and not get hardly any of the results that I wanted to get I know what that feels like and then I've also had many successful launches so I feel like I've learned from failures I know how to help people regain confidence after something like that I also know how to help them tweak things and I know how to help people have successful launches because I've done both so I feel like that helps me be the right person for certain people I've learned from customer service experience is good and bad I've shared some of those in previous courses I've had both I've had really great I've had bad I've learned from it and then I know howto help other people like saying just give the refund and don't let it affect you like that's just an easier thing to dio that's because of a lesson that I've learned, I figured out what it, what it takes to be my own boss like how to get myself productive and do the work and when I'm feeling lazy and when I would rather just watch tv all day long, I know how to get myself working. I also have figured out how to take breaks and take care of myself, and that took me a little while I wasn't the right person to help people with that in the beginning because I didn't have that down yet, but now, after four years of doing this, I've got it down. I ready to help people figure that out and not be is guilty about it? Use this information to boost your confidence because you got this. You just wrote down a bunch of things that make you the right person, right? So use that had some of this stuff to your about paige things that you wouldn't necessarily think can help people figure out whether you're the right person for them planned blawg posts around some of this information the lessons that you've learned people love this stuff. Whenever I talk about a lesson that I've learned on my vlog, those air so popular people love that they love to know that you get it, that you've been there, that you understand where they're coming from, that you're not always successful, because who wants to work with that? You know, I mean that I'm always the master, eh? It just gives you that connection planned blawg posts around your experiences and education. All of those things will help people choose you and threw your blogged you're trying tio give people a chance to get to know like and trust you. This is the way how let them know who you are don't be afraid of that. So did you build your business around your experience, strengths and personality? Did you already? How many of you guys really have built your business around this stuff? Yeah, some of you guys who feels like they haven't, how come do you want to share how either of you? Oh I'm canny on my block is living with shana budget I think when I started I watched I'm gonna read a lot of other blocks and he tried to replicate them yeah and then they didn't know what to do and I'm like don't want to be a coupon in black and start doing that I'm like this is not really me so I'm still figuring out I think we all do that in the beginning we all look how many of us did that in the beginning where we looked at other businesses and blog's to what they were doing and then we did the same thing yeah pretty much everyone raised their hand you are not alone we all I did it in the beginning I looked tio what are successful people doing? I can kind of do that and then this will work for me and I still think it's helpful to look at people who are succeeding and and seeing what they're doing and using some of those things but on ly if they fit with your brand and on ly if they fit with your business and what feels right anyway would you like to share with us tell us where we can find you'll see I have the opposite when I have the opposite thing I have ah design business where my skill has driven something that I feel like I'm now not identifying with where I want to be it's not personal enough it's it's very much around that skill and so it's moving that skill to something else that is more authentic. Okay, all right, so basically you've built it around your skill set not necessarily who you are exactly. Andy, are you still in love with the skill set? Are you still excited about that kind of work? Yeah, I mean, I'm exploring the avenues of where that khun go authentically instead of what, um, what people technically typically want from it, you know? Okay, yes also, I think that that's a great point is that we wanna listen, tio uh, we want to listen to our target market and what people want, but we need thio provide it in a way that feels good to us in relates to our strengths and personality and not just do something because people ask for it. I've had so many people ask me to teach them how to set up a wordpress site. Listen, I've done it, but I'm not excited about that. I am not going to teach somebody how to set up a wordpress site because I'm just not excited. I have done many little, many video tutorials and courses before that have taken me about ten or fifteen minutes to record because I'm like, I'll walk you through the inside of a wordpress site just tow just to get you started but I'm not the right person for that and even though my audience asks for it again and again and again and again it's just not me I'm not the right person so yes I was going to say I've had this struggle not always like I'm getting better about it but it's really fear for me of just being myself like letting people see who I am to my core like in person I can be that way with friends I'm close to and I value that but then when it's like showing the rest of the world it's like oh like do I have to do that can I like hold bag but then I feel like I really need to push through that and and honestly that's what I want to help other people do is like be fearless and like show who you truly are so yes yes yes yes yes yes yes I completely understand because I feel like I felt the exact same way and I still feel that way sometimes when I have written a block post where it really shows me and maybe it is something that people don't necessarily already know about me is it the right thing to do? Is it not the right thing to dio I will sit on a block post for weeks trying to figure out whether or not to hit publish and almost always, I would say ninety nine percent of the time when I do hit publish on a block post like that when I'm feeling that kind of fear, they're very popular and people really connect I am myself like, I can't help it when when I'm around people, but, um, when I first started blogging, I really reined it in, and when I took your blogging course and you gave me permission to write as my true self, it changed everything. I mean, I got tons more readers, people comment all the time, it just changed my game up so much. So you just you have to be yourself there. Yeah, yeah, but it's hard to do something. Yeah, and we it is easy to dio when you're around friends and when you feel comfortable, but you have no idea who's reading who's out there in the internet and so it's also easy to when you write to just one person, sometimes that can help that is well, because you feel like picture one of your friends when you're writing somebody who could also fall in your target market, picture somebody like that and see if it helps a little bit if it shifts things a little bit.

April, I purchased your class and I love what you have created. The workbook helped me to identify key points that I needed to think about. I have had a business for a while now, and I wanted to give my shop and blog a fresh look. I certainly got exactly what I was looking for in your videos and most of all with your fabulous hand-outs and workbook. Your style is A-dorable and although I am 66 years old, I am never too old to learn something new. April, you will always be successful in everything that you do because your passion is contagious. Thank you. I am sitting here this morning with a notebook and your workbook. You have helped me identify points about my business that I was overlooking. By going through the process, I feel wonderful about my products and have a new outlook. You are amazing! Karen
