Lhasa Apso: Single Puppy Composition
The idea is to have this nice and flat here, and then have him curled up in a ball with this wrapped around him. So I've got all blue set up with a little black and white puppy in the middle, and the contrast of the black and white. He wants to go. So one thing that we always try to do is create completely unique setups for everything that we're doing. So we're not repeating anything in terms of colors and props and stuff like that. Alright, I don't think he's gonna go back to sleep. (laughs) He's tryin' to climb out of my hands. (Jade) What if you just wrap him and see whether he'd go back to sleep, 'cause that other one did. The other one did, yeah. Keep that little tail out. (dog barks) So if he'd stayed asleep, I would have put him on his side and then curled him in a little ball, but we'll try something else. I'm going around the belly first, so I've got both little feet out underneath there. Got a little sushi roll. (laughs) (Jade) they love to be wrapped, don't they? The...
y do. Hi. (dog whimpers) What do you think, hey? Mkay, so I've got all that pulled through. Do you know what we have? We've got that little bow tie. That would be so cute. Oh, you've got claws. (dog whimpers) No, you can't go anywhere. (dog whimpers) Let's see what this does around his neck. So if he started to yelp or anything like that, I'd quickly unwrap him. I wouldn't make him do it. (dog whimpers) Yeah, now that is cute. (dog whimpers) And then if I can get you, Jade, to come in behind and lift that up and make a backdrop. (laughs) He's now... That is, you look really handsome. Do you want it pulled tight, or just keep it-- I reckon just loose, yeah. You look really, really handsome. Mhmm. You do. (dog whimpers) (Kelly laughs) I don't want you to come to me. Hey? You look really cute. You look really cute. Mkay, you ready? You ready? (Kelly laughs) (dogs whimper) Aww, they wanna get out. Mkay, Garrett, can I get you to come and hold the back, and then I can get Jade to come and put a hand on his back? (dog whimpers) (Kelly laughs) Just put your hand there on his little back. (squeaks) (clicks) (camera snaps) One more. (camera beeps) (clicks) (camera snaps) Done. (both laugh) That was really cute. Mkay. That wrapping was a great way to keep him from running off. As you could see, it slowed him down, 'cause he would have launched off there. And we are done with that setup. They were really easy setups to do, and so cute, so simple, and fast. When you've got little ones that are well fed, worn out, and super cute. But you can see, they don't stay asleep long. (laughs)

I am not a photographer. I do compositing using Photoshop and was interested in seeing how they set up and pose such lively subjects. Such care was taken with the puppies and I learned a lot about getting just the right poses using different setups like muslin, bowls, etc. For compositing, it's important to know what you are looking for in order to bring images together correctly. This course, besides being fun to watch, has helped me, even if my images don't wiggle as much as these puppies.

I loved everything about this class!! It was so obvious by the handling and the way you interacted with the puppies how much care and thought goes into the artwork you created. I'm so excited to put all of your ideas into my own creativity. Thank you for providing me with the inspiration to move forward with pet photography!
