Day 12 - Exquisite Corpse

(vibrant music) Hey, everyone. This is Ryan Putnam with 28 to Make, and today we're gonna be working on the exquisite corpse. Okay, things you need. You need a sheet of paper. You need a marker, a pen, something to make a mark. And you need three people, yourself and two other friends. To start, take the sheet of paper, fold it in thirds, and then you can fold it again in half and you could just rip this. So you have kind of like two nice long sheets here. Let me, I'll just do it. So you have this kind of nice vertical like sheet of paper. So to start, the first person will take the first part of the sheet, fold it up and draw a head. Once you're done with the head, kind of flip it over and make sure you have some lines extending the paper. Your next person you pass it on to, Lara, is gonna draw the torso. And then once she's done doing that, she'll tuck it away again so you have this last part of the paper, with the extended lines again, and this is where you're gonna draw the legs.

And then once you're all done, you could unfold it, look at the amazing collaboration that you guys just did and have a lot of fun. And here's a really cool one we made, all three of us here, myself, Lara, and Brooks. Here is my head. Here is Lara's torso. And then here's Brooks' legs. You got the nice, nobby legs, the nice stomach going there, and the nice mutant face. These are super fun, so I'm excited to see like what you guys come up with. It's actually a really good way to collaborate with other people. You have to learn some patience while you wait for other people to finish their piece. You also have to leave enough contents there for people to go off of. So there is some like good collaboration skills that you could build with in it. Super excited to see what you guys come up with. This one's fun, so share it. And use the #28toMake and let's see where you go.

I just loved the way this was presented and the immediate connection of the videos and their content which helped me discover and try things I would not have thought I could do. The affirmations from others doing the same thing and being able to gather ideas from the 'sharing' bit was also important for me. I have gained a lot creatively and it has fired parts of my imagination that lay hidden. I am just sorry it is formally over. I missed the last x3 sessions and the portfolio bit due to illness but will complete the other tasks and will continue explore developing those that really opened a creative slot for me. Above all thanks to the tutors - each of you - I loved the content you chose and the enthusiasm and creative energy you conveyed in just a few moments and the generous attitude of the skills share. That's it - Thank you, would recommend to anyone not to miss this opportunity.

I was looking for a way to get back into the habit of creating. The class has some fun ideas for projects that are easy to work on, which is super helpful. Every day I was excited to see what my new project was! But...a few seemed to not be what I considered sketching or drawing and didn't seem to fit the description. Overall, very helpful though :)

Best course ever on Creative Live. It's the foundation for doing anything or everything creative. Even if you think your only creative interest is say photography ...and you're not a drawer, maker or artist of any kind ...think again. This course will open up your mind and you will discover that actually you are a creative and you can pick up a pencil and draw... and it doesn't take up much time... 10-20 minutes a day. In the beginning it's not about the end result, it's about the doing and how it sets something off in your brain. It will make a huge difference to everything else you put your hands and mind to in life.
