Day 24: Make a Postcard
Hey this is Erik Marinovich, and this is 28 To Make, and today's project's a simple one, but close to my heart. It's make a postcard, and why make a postcard? What I love about postcard is that A, it's been around forever, and B, it's a great way to just send a really sentimental note to somebody that you care about, or that you've been thinking about, or that you've been meaning to write and don't feel like committing to writing a full letter to, but one thing I wanna stress about this project is, finding a message in that postcard that relates to you're sending it to, so if it's your mother and it's just a "Hey mom thanks for being a great mom", but I really wanna stress the value of like making sure that there's a connection and a really nice sentimental note to that message that you're sending to a loved one, and the one that I've decided to send to, is my wife, and I picked it from a postcard set made by Friends of Type, that's out now so, what's great about this project too, is t...
here is any number of ways that you can actually make a postcard. I'm just picking one out of the lot here because this one just was perfect for the messagE I wanted to send, if you make a postcard on your own, one thing that I do wanna stress is that whatever message or image that you pick, make sure that it actually has a relationship to the person that you're sending it to. It could be like you're going on a vacation soon, and so you're getting exciting, and you're gonna send your husband a beautiful picture of a sunset, or Mother's Day is coming up, and you wanna send just a lovely note to your mom, whatever the case, just make sure there is a nice sentimental value in what you're sending. Another thing too is how you make it. I'm quickly just choosing one from this lot of postcards but it can be anything, make it, cut it out of existing, out of an existing book, we'll actually even supply you a template online that you can download just so that you have a reference guide to make a postcard, but it's pretty easy. It's four by six, anything makes a postcard, but just make sure that you put a nice little note to the loved one that you're sending it to. I'll love to see photos of what you make, and please share at #28toMake.

I just loved the way this was presented and the immediate connection of the videos and their content which helped me discover and try things I would not have thought I could do. The affirmations from others doing the same thing and being able to gather ideas from the 'sharing' bit was also important for me. I have gained a lot creatively and it has fired parts of my imagination that lay hidden. I am just sorry it is formally over. I missed the last x3 sessions and the portfolio bit due to illness but will complete the other tasks and will continue explore developing those that really opened a creative slot for me. Above all thanks to the tutors - each of you - I loved the content you chose and the enthusiasm and creative energy you conveyed in just a few moments and the generous attitude of the skills share. That's it - Thank you, would recommend to anyone not to miss this opportunity.

I was looking for a way to get back into the habit of creating. The class has some fun ideas for projects that are easy to work on, which is super helpful. Every day I was excited to see what my new project was! But...a few seemed to not be what I considered sketching or drawing and didn't seem to fit the description. Overall, very helpful though :)

Best course ever on Creative Live. It's the foundation for doing anything or everything creative. Even if you think your only creative interest is say photography ...and you're not a drawer, maker or artist of any kind ...think again. This course will open up your mind and you will discover that actually you are a creative and you can pick up a pencil and draw... and it doesn't take up much time... 10-20 minutes a day. In the beginning it's not about the end result, it's about the doing and how it sets something off in your brain. It will make a huge difference to everything else you put your hands and mind to in life.
