Build a Sample & Examples Page
So the next one I want to build is s o in my complex portfolios, I also like to build in some samples I call samples and examples, so this is a way for someone to view your work. If it's if it's not out on any products yet, then you can drape it on mock ups, and it'll let them know that this is how you envision your work that's, where you see it, you'd love to see it on station area or iphone cases or whatever you're thinking. So as a download for the, uh, this course, if you purchase it, I have included the pattern, mock ups, documents, so I'm gonna go ahead and open that this is what this document will look like for you, and these are just some things that I have made an illustrator that you can use if you want in your portfolio it's iphone case and a couple of pillows and like a purse, so I'll show you how to put these together. I am going to just copy and paste a couple of them over to my document, I think I'll leave, I'll I'll leave the dress for now, I just want some, um, some of...
these, so I'll copy and paste them over here, and I think that I'm gonna take this gray background and keep this keep this little tonal pattern kind of using it throughout my portfolio. The only thing I might do is take the opacity down for this one just so that it's kind of barely there and it's easy to view what's on top of it so the easiest way to do that is with your opacity right up here in your toolbar you can either do the drop down menu and select something you can type it in or you can just scroll with your mouth until you're happy with the opacity so I'm gonna take it that's fifty percent and that's fine so I want tio grab this banner and text again copy it and when I select this new are bored by hit command f for copy in front it's going to hit it exactly the same location on the r board as the last one so this page is called familes and examples I couldn't resist the rhyming I get I don't know, so I need to make this significantly longer so I'll drag it over to the right and and grab both of those points with the white hero tool and then all I want to do is start late layering um increase the size what I wanted to start draping my patterns on these just so they know you see that I lost a little bit right there cnn didn't have it selected so I'll grab that. Oh grabbed it all that's fine. That's what? Um all the sleep what I don't need in a minute but I want any lamp I have these ungroomed for your ease of use, but not very easy. The use of can't keep them together, but it will make draping your pattern on easy in just a second. So I'm just focusing on getting them position that, you know, in a in a nice way on the r board round something like that. Um, so the easiest way to just start applying your patterns is with the same way we did with those gray boxes. It's just that these air not great boxes, so you just grabbed one and with the eyedropper tool um, just select a pattern or whatever it is that you're wanting toe fill with them. If you're savvy. If your photo shop savvy, you know there's a huge world of mock ups that you can also lay your patterns on and that kind of thing, so feel free to go wild with this. Also, if you have actual products that you'd like to show already, this is a great place to put those two um so for this pillow it's on a tilt, so I want my pattern on a tilt to, um it's, right vertical right now so with its selected I have I have my edges hidden but it is selected I'm going to right click and come down to transform rotate and I don't want to rotate the object so I'll select off of that I only want to transform the pattern and I do have it on preview so I'm going to take this to zero so you can see where we started and with my mouth I'm just going to scroll until I'm happy with the position like so it's just it's just about right there, which is sixteen degrees but that makes it look especially if this was a stripe you'd be able to tell even even more that that looks a little more realistic um so I'll grab a couple of other patterns just to show that to show them in this way these faces can be something like that um so I don't need these that I accidentally copied overall leedham and then because this page has some dead space on it um over here on my branding elements I have included a couple of things that I could just kind of um sprinkle around my portfolio and these are all elements that are included in patterns that I like we did the very first one I've just brought the elements over to the document and pulled some of the elements out so it's all kind of cohesive and I can just coffee those and paste motor my board, and they really have no purpose at all. Then, um, some visual, some visual relief and dis some design elements to break up some of the empty space. This one I'm going to use in a minute. But, um, I mean, if you know me, you know that butterflies have to be flying around. Okay, so that gives a quick glimpse at some samples that you could make up with your with your product. So this is going to look different for everyone and also look different for every different industry. But I want to get you thinking about just showing where you want your work to take you.

I thought this class was engaging and informative. Bonnie Christine has such a natural way of presenting the information and never seems to lose her concentration. I really wanted to learn more about how to put together a professional but handmade portfolio and that is what you get. Thanks for the great class!
