Going Over the Process
So the first thing we need to do is cut our book board I mentioned earlier that they come in large sheets. Um, this one also came from blick materials and this is ah, standard size that they come in and so on the back here, I already marked my guidelines for my book board. We're going to get into measurements in just a second. Um but that's what they look like I, um, go ahead and draw my guidelines, and then I use a ruler and an exacto knife to cut them. Um, so I already have my cut. This is ah um it works really well with an exacto knife, but it does take several swipes, so the key to doing this is not to try to get it in one, two or three or even five swipes, but maybe more like twenty with a ruler. So you use your ruler and exacto knife to cut this footboard and so it's definitely doable, it's just a little time consuming, so I went ahead and cut mine it ahead of time. If you have somebody who is a skilled like woodworker, they could cut it for you as well. Someone set this down and...
I want to take a moment and discuss our printed pages so you basically have two options for the interior pages of your portfolio and so we just went through designing many portfolio and I showed you an illustrator of the ones that were ready to send the print and from there you have two options you can put them at home by yourself or you can outsource them to a professional printer and I have some of both here to show you um this first set I printed at home I use all my re sources are also listed in the same e book but I use an epson stylus this printer and epps in premium presentation paper and it does a really, really nice job of printing artwork and photographs. Um the drawback to this is that, um this this particular paper is on ly coded on one side so you can't print double sided, so for this I'm going to show you how to do this momentarily, but we have to manually make double sided pages, okay? And then the other way to go about this is to get your pages printed professionally, which these have been printed for me and they are double sided with the margin and everything I use palmar printing to do this and they will dio short runs like they'll do ah one copy or ten copies or something like that um but this quality has blown me away they're really, really nice on bacon do double sided for you and everything like that. So I have. Tio. This portfolio was made with my professionally printed pages, and this portfolio was made with pages that I printed myself and have manually made double sided. So they look a little different. But I think both look very professional. This one is really mad. You can tell it's really mad, and the other has a little bit of a sheen. Um, so that's, why? And when you would decide what template to use in adobe illustrator.

I thought this class was engaging and informative. Bonnie Christine has such a natural way of presenting the information and never seems to lose her concentration. I really wanted to learn more about how to put together a professional but handmade portfolio and that is what you get. Thanks for the great class!
