Making LUT Files From Adjustment Layers
So I have a layer here and I can apply. Maybe a curves adjustment layer changed the blending mode to color. The rial effect doesn't matter. But what I'm doing here is I'm gonna go into the Reds, maybe add a little bit of scion and blue, and I'm just creating a color effect. As I said, the the esthetic Look, it really doesn't matter at this point. And I'm gonna create another adjustment layer, maybe at a selective color and, you know, at site add red to the shadows. And maybe this is the filter type of color effect that we're going for. And you may wanna save that effect so that you don't apply that you don't have to keep making it over and over again. Maybe you have multiple images that you want apply to maybe even have a video file that you want to apply this same effect too that's created with adjustment layers. You can actually save it as a lot file and let me show you what that is. In photo shop, you can select the layer and go into color look up adjustment and this applies the col...
or look up adjustment and we have all these presets here that we can apply something like fuel orange, maybe. Or we can do moonlight. Or we can do a whole bunch of different ones. Maybe edgy Amber. There's a whole bunch of them, but you can create your own, so you have your adjustment layers and I'll leave it at one more just so you could see you could do any number of adjustment layer. So maybe something like that, that's our final effect. Actually, probably like that. One better on top. Um, so we can export this look toe, apply it to other Photoshopped piles or to other video files in Adobe Premiere or, um, adobe after effects or any application that uses let files. So with my adjustment layers selected or just in later panel, I don't need to select them. I can go into file export, and by the way, this first time is not gonna work. And I'll show you why. File export and color look up tables and for teacher was going to tell me I can't do it. And the reason that Photoshopped cannot export the look up tables is because you need a background layer. This is one of the few times that you're ever gonna need a background in photo shop. So a lot of times when you open up a file, it'll it has that little lock on there and you click on it to get rid of it. This is one of the few times and Photoshopped you actually need it. So if you ever get rid of the luck, you need to bring it back. You can go into layer, um, new background from layer that brings the little locked back and notice that the name changes to background. So now we have a background layer, And if I go into file export, Carlo, look up tables. I can name it. Whatever I like. I guess I'll call it Creative Live. And there's different types of formats you can save him on just because you might There might be different applications that you have the use different ones. We're gonna use the Q file, but I'll still save them all so oppressed, okay? And it's gonna ask me where I want to save it. And, um, I also But in this holder, um, I just call it again creativelive save. And now I can hide all these layers go into the color look up adjustment layer. Click on the very first drop down and select load three The luck that's gonna open up this file here and notice that I have these creative live let files. If I select cube press open, it's gonna apply that same exact color effect that we created using those adjustment layers. So that is one quick way and in which you can save the look of multiple adjustment layers. Bring it into Photoshopped as a single adjustment layer. Or better yet, if you're in premiere after effects, you can do the same thing. You can load that file onto those applications and give that color effect to a video file. So that's a good way of creating, sort of like instagram filters for video sort of speak. In case you're wondering, you can still use the opacity or a blending mode. Teoh make it work on the front way, but in most cases, you're not gonna want to do that. In most cases, you you're gonna want to stick with the um, color effect that you created. So just remember you can use any adjustment layer that you like you can use as many as you like, as long as you don't. You can use layer mask, but the mass themselves won't save only the color produced by the adjustment layer. So a better way of thinking about it is what you're really saving. Is this right here? The the final outcome of of those layers without just without layer mess?

Overall Photoshop Week 2017 has some amazing instructors for workflow & compositing. Jesus Ramirez has the unique ability to combine simplicity with really useful depth: blend modes, different approaches to selection or combining different tools. This course covers a lot of tools and there are a number of ‘wow! didn't know that!’ moments a more advanced user will love.

Yeah yeah, Jesus Ramirez is a great instructor and this class is packed with useful tips and even some fun ones that might not be so useful. But it was that one about using two windows from the same document that changed my Photoshop life.

Jesus is excellent! full of knowledge and provides a lot of helpful tips in a clear and easy to understand way. Only thing missing are captions for this class, for some reason. Otherwise, I wish there were more classes like this one.
