This is actually the original PSD of that jungle book project that I've been showing you throughout this class. And it's and I use a couple of W stock images, so it's telling me that it can find them in my library. We're not gonna worry about that right now. We're just gonna press, OK, and there it is, and I'm not gonna go through the entire thing. But as you can see, it's a whole bunch of layers doing a whole bunch of the stuff that we've been discussing. But anyway, the reason that I'm showing you this file is because I wanted you to see all the different layers are in there now, relatively speaking, this is not a really large file. The other project that I worked on with Adobe that file was almost five gigabytes, so I wouldn't be able to open up in this laptop. It would probably freeze it, and we will be here 20 minutes, which is why I don't want to risk it. So I brought a different file. But what I want to show you is that Photoshopped gives you the ability to open a layer file as ...
a flattened version which allows it to open much faster. And you could use it to maybe show a client, show a friend or maybe save social media image out of that huge, large, large file without actually opening up all the layers. You just hope that a composite of of that view in the way you do that is by going to file open and you hold shift an option, and then you open the image that you want to open. M four ships. Oops. Sorry I hit. I was sitting command. Sorry about that. Um, shifting option. So file open, shifting option. And for that, I was gonna ask you, Do you want to read the composite data instead? All that saying is we're not gonna open up all the layers were just gonna flatten the whole thing. Not forever. Just just for now. So you're not gonna lose your layers on. We're just gonna show you that composite of you so we can open it. Open it up so much faster, and you don't have to worry about waiting for the image to load. So I'm gonna press okay? And it opens it up, Opens it up right away. Notice that they are no layers. Um, one thing I should say that you have to be carefully. For whatever reason, you get the feeling of of making adjustments, thinking like, oh, maybe I could make it a color balance, because it's maybe not red enough, and then you save it. Then you will over your original file. So, um, this is just meant for you to look at the image. And as I said, save it as something else. So maybe you want to save it for social media, so you can hit, um, command option shift s oops. Command option shift s and say for the web, maybe. And then, you know, maybe you only want it to be pixels wide or whatever, and then you would click on save ass again. In this particular case, this file is not that big, so you really wouldn't need to do that. But if you're working on files that are gigabytes big and you may be traveling and working on the laptop, then you This is where that tip will come in handy.

Overall Photoshop Week 2017 has some amazing instructors for workflow & compositing. Jesus Ramirez has the unique ability to combine simplicity with really useful depth: blend modes, different approaches to selection or combining different tools. This course covers a lot of tools and there are a number of ‘wow! didn't know that!’ moments a more advanced user will love.

Yeah yeah, Jesus Ramirez is a great instructor and this class is packed with useful tips and even some fun ones that might not be so useful. But it was that one about using two windows from the same document that changed my Photoshop life.

Jesus is excellent! full of knowledge and provides a lot of helpful tips in a clear and easy to understand way. Only thing missing are captions for this class, for some reason. Otherwise, I wish there were more classes like this one.
