All right so we've got two little boys here and yes they're ready for them and they have come one is adrian and one is ethan so we're just waiting for them toe come on in come on guys all right can you guys remember what I have over here? I got your soccer you want to see if you can find it you find it ah ah that's where it is oh john is this is slow as we can get this so since I can't get this kid level I'm gonna flip it vertical normally I would shoot it horizontal but that's okay I didn't come on in here you can have some e I want to see your ball would you bring uh look I love the way adrian just climbed right on this chair c c can you can you throw me that ball you throw it yea yes what I'm gonna throw it right back to you who can catch it you can catch it are you sure can you get it? catch it he's looking at all of my friends those are my friends can you throw me the ball? All right you're doing awesome oh my goodness you both have balls. How many does that make two are you sure g I'm gonna get you one two then what comes next? Three are you sure? Hey, drink can you come sit right here? Yeah, they sit on the edge I loved the climate so that's great. All right, good job, guys who's going to catch the ball? Can I throw one? Yeah, yeah I'm not a very good catcher am I? I'm very good at that. Here it comes you ready? Oh, good jumper ethan where? Tio all right, adrian, will you come over here and help me? Adrian, come over here and help me let's play catch with ethan you're ready? Can you do you think you can catch it, huh? He collected his pig highball so even look at that big hairball oh, my goodness, okay you ready can you go back over there by him? I always want to get a couple shots of ethan alone first because I know adrian will be easy he's older so we got a couple of him on the chair oh, how can you throw it at me? You think you can hit me? Can you get me, uh get clothes for that? Don't we with the other one all right with that one e oh let's try this one where is your house but your soccer ball all right let's get that in there so you're gonna hide it okay how about this can you try rolling the ball let's let's roll it to each other like bowling ready that would be hard colin bowling alley you ready ready yeah will you angle that back just a little bit, huh? Can you do it one more time what's that guy's name do you think cma name are you sure is his name fred hey mr even all right I mean I'm close to getting everything I need I probably should just a little bit longer because we really only shot for like, you know, five minutes or something um but let's get how about if we move that box over there can you talk a little bit about um where you are with the crazy kids running around a little bit about where you're focusing on them or how that's being affected by the two of them? Yeah don't always want to know about setting well and I'll tell you what I said I'm six point three hundred twenty fifth of a second and I'm shooting at one hundred sixty I sew and I like the craziness that's kind of part of being two little boys and so it's a good thing he's already on this thing we're going to try to get it over there I would do the same thing in somebody's house I wouldn't walk around and look for problems as after I'm there and I I'll tell mom I'm going just go scout out some props but what they're doing great and I don't worry too much about um you know we can crop in and we can do it really easily and preview really quickly so you're going to be able to see if I've got a little bit of adrian off in a corner we'll just drop it in it's no big deal I'm taking john home with me so and I'll talk to guys about about lighting and a little bit this is a little bit different than normal because normally I'm gonna shoot with my box horizontal which gives us a little bit more space and wrap around with the life but um we're doing with what we have here so okay awesome okay can you guys climb up here you'd be really talk ready ready down you want me to get this guy out of here he's stuck, isn't it he stuck mmmmmmmmm there's a bunch more if somebody wants to go grab one more of these in the other room this one's he's kind of he's stuck isn't it should we throw him away? Hey, adrian, I need you to fix your tie. Can you stand right back apparent fix it for me it is a little crooked thank you. You all right? I'm gonna get the ball and when you go stand up on the box I'm gonna throw it to you are you ready can you count to three can you put your hands down and I'm gonna tell you what I'm gonna throw it to you so get ready but chance on like this by side alright are you ready let's count to three together hands like this while we count ready what e I got that or not with the little hands behind him that was awesome okay for them all no get back up on the box and see if we can find it where to go we're tio okay I'm gonna throw it to you go wait by your brother all right ready one two let's see if you can help can you help your brother catch it put your arms around him so you can put your hands on his and help him catch it e already that was great all right awesome you guys you wanna go find mom all right good job give me five who would jump in a five awesome give him a hand now I got to see what even got here I don't do any editing while the shooting they were too fast for me uh a lot going on but and I was actually a pretty hot on these was not really paying attention um we got some cute stuff we got some really cute expressions and definitely we got boys being boys so that'll be fine teo to go through and like there with mom and that's what's next oh and we're gonna take a couple questions first all right I'm on my daughter there in the audience all right we will go oh I just have a comment it just just watching you work and watching the chaos it's watching other photographers deal with kids it just it's just so much confirmation like we're all dealing with the chaos yeah well and what I think too is you know we all get kind of wrapped up in this thing has to be perfect but really it has to be all about them and if that's their lives and you can imagine this is probably the way mom lives every single day of her life so we gotta let it happen and then we got to talk to her about it and man those boys you were right there they're crazy we had so much fun you know and even though it was that quick you know you guys are you guys are watching and sew it so they're distracted a little bit and it doesn't run exactly the same as it does but you get the idea you know it's just kind of letting them do their thing and even in the controlled atmosphere of the lighting which I would much prefer to shoot this outside where they can just actually run around and do their thing and I'm just shooting we would have had lots and lots of moments happening in there but even with the controlled space that were and we can still you know, we only need so many images and so if they're being them and mom likes what she sees then it's all good it's ask online, okay? Murdoch would like no if laurie's outside shooting does she just use a reflector if you have an assistant or two, she is mom, I actually do not do any of above. Um, I don't shoot without reflector outside, I looked for reflective surfaces and so it's it's a little bit different. I know that there was probably some people that would say that you need really need to be using a reflector for the reflective light, but I always want to kind of think about it the same way I do in the studio. I want to look for a main light source and I wanna look for phil, and so wherever that's happening is where I'm gonna position the kids and then let them do their thing within that space. So I don't take a reflector outside and that's exactly the reason inside with studio lighting there a little bit more confined into a space, and so even though they were all over the place, they're all over the place right there outside, there is no way to be running around chasing them with a reflector, so I I don't okay, right? Oh, a couple more questions. I notice he was shooting at a six point three. That about where you shoot in studio? Usually in my studio. My settings are almost always a five point six at about one hundred twenty fifth and and that's all variable to just getting to know your lighting situation. And I always meet her on the back in my camera today I had john doing it for me, which is great. I want him to be with me every day, but normally I'm just I'm gonna shoot. I'm gonna look at my what I've got and I'm gonna expose accordingly outside I always shoot aperture priority so it's I shoot as wide open as I can even with these guys crazy, I'd probably shoot it two point eight three point too, you know, um and let them do their thing but inside typically five point six based on the lighting in my studio and then I just vary it how I how many too in the space if you're shooting a newborn inside, would you then try to do a shallow depth of field just to get that they're the the depth of field? Yeah, well, with new horns, I'm either shooting window light or continuous light yeah, so then you are opening up, okay? Would you be shooting outside? Just one quick lens question. Do you are you using your twenty four to seventy outside or using a seventy two question, twenty four to seventy inside, almost always seventy two, two hundred outside, almost always my two favorite lenses.
