Hot Seat: Create Your Email Editorial Calendar

What I'd like to do now is do a little hot seat with someone. Yes, so let's bring that up here. So I wanna plot this out for someone else, maybe someone who has less launches and is thinking about filling in more content. Does anyone want to go? Or else I'm going to make Kaylin come up here again. (laughs) You guys are like, "Yeah, just do it." (laughs) Just do it. Fine. (laughs) I mean, now that it's just, we know you, we know where it's going. We might as well just see the process out, right? All right, so just really quick remind us who you are and what you do. Kaylin Vancura and I make jewelry under the name Darling Marcel. Perfect alright so, let's start with do you have any product releases coming up in the next couple of months? No Because you just released so fast (laughs). I did. I was thinking that maybe I should do more frequent releases and I could just add like another color Okay. to say like these type of necklaces. Okay so maybe you're gonna do one like...

... So awkward. So you're gonna do one new color release. Yeah. Let's say that. And are you planning on having any sales? You don't have to have any sales. No, I wasn't planning on sales. Okay alright. So then, the next thing is, you have a lot of product that we have to back fill in. Right? Yes. In terms of like you released it but didn't promote it very well. Yes that's true. Okay, is there a time where you really need to make money or is it just like you wanna kinda focus on a consistent thing? Yeah, I just want to be more consistent and more consistently making money. Perfect okay. (laughs) That's always a good goal. And then do you have any shows or events coming out that we need to plug in? No. Okay. So then the next question is and I think this is where we're really gonna go for you. Is there any kind of holiday seasonal angle, anything that you want to kind of look at with your customers and is there anything you want to avoid? I think that it's a good idea to avoid the barbecue holidays. So memorial day Right. And fourth of July. Some holidays that might work are... And it doesn't have to be holidays. You can think broad season too. Okay. So if it's travel or like end of school or whatever it is. You can think about those kinds of things too. Well I think somethings would be good for like graduation. Okay, that's perfect. To either wear yourself or for gifts. So that to me says that's two emails right? Wear and gift. Okay what else? Also just like, Also maybe just summer. Like kind of a summer round up maybe. Okay. I think you started to say, was graduation the holiday that you were thinking or was there another holiday in mind that you were thinking about in the next couple months? No I think that was the one... I do actually, I could possibly do father's day because I I have a drip collection and because men always love the necklaces so much that I made tie clips. Oh well then you should absolutely do father day. (laughing) That's such an easy one for us jewelers to think about skipping but if you have a men's product you could absolutely be doing a father's day email. Alright, so now we want to plug in. Let's think about timing. I have no idea when father's day is. Sometime in June? It's in June. Maybe 13th. Okay so I would say to be safe that maybe like this is like the first week of June. Actually let's help us because I'm like wait I do have a calendar. Look (laughs). So at least we have an idea of what we're talking about here. Alright so is there a day of the week that you're sending you're emails? Or are you being on the fence? Usually I'm sending them on Thursdays. Okay so I think if Father's Day is the 13th, lets see. It's probably the end of the week of the 12th right? I think. Let's guess? Yeah. Alright so then lets say I think, the week of... We're just gonna like run this down here. So May 15th 22nd 29th So I think June 5th. that seems like the right week for Father's day Okay. That seems like a holiday that you want a little bit of time but people kind of forget. People might not advertise that like Mother's day. So It sneaks up on you. So we can go kind of close. So then the other ones that we have to think about are graduation. So were you thinking that these are right for high school or college graduation? That changes are timing a little bit. I would say college. Okay. So that's like now. Yes (laughs). Only if you're watching this live. If you're watching this in the future I have no idea what the date is. (laughs) But in this moment that is happening now. So I would say that your next two weeks worth of emails I would go probably gift first then wear. Okay. Lets go grad gift right away. Okay. And actually, technically we haven't gotten to Thursday yet. So you could bump these up. Yeah. So I might go one more week up. And then what do you think about for like a summer round up? How far into summer do you wanna go with that? I don't know. It seems like I could do Should I put it in may? This is probably the week we're avoiding. Cuz that's a barbecue holiday. Oh right right. Okay so maybe the 12th? Maybe the 12th. And if you wanted to, you could bump these two up and do that summer round up there. Yeah. So you could go up one with, up one with that. If that makes you feel better like you want to get summer round up up early. Yeah. Okay. So then that means you're pretty good obviously for the next month. Yeah. So then we just have to think about throwing in some content Ideas here. So now this is a good chance to go through and say Lets see 21st. Where are we at? July 3rd. So that's the week that we're probably gonna skip again. Alright so we're not doing this one. So look at that. Lets think about like two weeks in June. Do you want to do a new color release or do you want to wait and kinda do like promote like we talked about that pattern email. Yeah I think I would wanna promote some of the products I have. Okay so lets do like an existing. So maybe here you do your pattern one. Uhm. Here you do some kind of other idea. Go back through your collection look at the existing. And then maybe schedule out for July. That's when you're gonna do... Let's do a color release. Something like that. Yeah. Okay, that sound good. How's that feel? Yeah that feels good. Look, look at all your email marketing just planned out. Yes all these ideas. (laughs) How convenient. Alright.

What a great class. It's easy to watch thanks to the bite-size classes (in some of your other courses, segments are too long) and Megan's almost every sentence is packed with easily actionable, immediately implementable tips. She knows what she's talking about and delivers it with super likeable confidence. And I learnt SO MUCH invaluable stuff. Super recommend this class to all creative makers that desire to connect with their audience and sell sell sell

I've been emailing my list weekly consistently for more than a year, and I still took away a ton of great information! I learned so much that will help me plan more quickly, get the emails written faster, and - best of all - make them more effective at converting into sales. Thanks so much, Megan!
