Marketing Plan: Monthly
by the way guys everything I'm telling you is a recommendation you're going to have to tweak it for your specific business that timing is going to be specific to what you know about your target market remember the better you know your target market the better you're going to know when to deliver the right content good marketing is about delivering the right piece of information at the right time to the right person with the right medium okay so monthly we've moved now from pursuit and from weekly and into monthly he's the things that you'd want to do every month doesn't mean you do everything here on the first of the month do the first thing in the first week of the month do the second thing listen the second we get spread it out give yourself a little bit of buffer room there create a new block post syriza power of siri's I know aaron younger we're talking about she'll be on and join us next and she's going to talk about some of the siri's that they've developed and how powerful they ...
are that doesn't just happen by accident you certainly don't want to reach out to a vendor about a new siri's you have and then it all falls apart you get busy and you never do that siri's that's not reflect well on you have it is part of a plan that's something that you can do monthly you can write a new block post siri's interview other vendors right one on your own you do a five part series on how to build and plan details for your wedding reception how to prepare how to prepare your family for a family portrait session that could be a whole siri's these are all things you can do on your own you have to go out and interview somebody that takes time and since it's not shoot specific you can release that whenever it is you want but if you don't have it a part of your plan it's probably not going to get done curate and share non shoot images on instagram pinterest so I included this here because this could be a part of your weekly or your monthly so it doesn't have to be part of weekly it could be part of monthly for your brand it might be better for you to do monthly you can see that there's certain things that have flexibility you don't have to do them during every week they could be every month that's why wanted could this here and in the past slide so you could see that some of these things are flexible nothing here is really cannon the idea is to figure out from a thirty thousand foot view what does he need to be doing and then identify what is best for your target market to be doing and identify the best timing for your target market and then apply that number four develop and email content to past clients so we talked about how past clients the people that have already used your services are perhaps the most valuable resource when it comes to keeping engaged they're perhaps the most valuable resource when it comes to providing long lasting referrals here your big true believers but oftentimes we get and we leave them in the lurch now that certainly wouldn't fall under the pursuit because you've already handled their shoot so this would fall in or something that you want to do every month develop the next piece of content you're going to share with him over e mail if it's may sit down and take and tackle what you're gonna share with him in june don't sit down in may and tackle what you're going to share with him in may this is about building flexibility into your marketing plan we talked about building flexibility and so that when something happens when you get overwhelming something goes wrong your website goes down here to spend two weeks fixing it for some dog on reason you already did june's content in may you built in that flexibility better to not go home and email all your past clients tonight better to go home and plan out what next month's email would include they've already waited long enough what's one more month going dio but this is where you see the power of building in flexibility so build out that flexibility in what you're doing um that shoot got it we start we actually start the next guide two months before its release date and that's so that there's plenty of buffer if we get pulled in different direction if I could ask to go on creative live and I'm gone for a week there's buffer there's buffer built in and so we start planning guide two months in advance we set a release date two months in advance I'd be lying if I said that we always release on that date but we do it we do guides once a quarter and our target market has come to expect that so we can't fall short and sometimes if we try to throw together a guy in a couple weeks it just wouldn't happen or we'd be putting out a guy that stunk and we can't do that better fact we figure a way to produce a guide that's better than the last one pretty much every single time it's not always easy by the way you have to create some buffer for yourself so when I say developing developing the female condom the past clients developed next month's an email last months right one additional block post that's targeted specifically your target market brian this might be for you ah blawg post of you and wendy going kayaking down the deschutes river it's a personal block post but it's about something your target market would enjoy then you can use that in your guide that you just wrote you khun sarah hey here's what when when wendy and I took this exact term recommending here's a block post all about if you want to read it that's awesome that's what you'd be doing that you could be talking about pacific north something the pacific northwest as your target market way go on and on down that done the examples you know trina you talked about the five things that people need to be doing right after they got engaged you could tell a story on your block about how hard it was for you to pick your venue in your date and that's why you learned that actually it's about picking your venue before your date actually truth there it is it's exactly true how great of a block post would that be and then in your guide you can reference that block post see how blawg post building the guides that could also turn into an email to a past client ee thes things build on each other they all start to connect so you're sitting at home and the attitude has been oh my gosh how do I do all this if you have a strategy everything starts to connect when you strategize about this it all starts to connect when you think about the guide to three months in advance you start to build to see I can build that guide ofthe log post already done because I have a system in place to do it by doing a system in place to do it the guide now seems like what did you have to do last night stay up all night pulling your hair out trying to write a guy you won't have to do that if you start to have a strategy in place for it your blog's turn into your guides sometimes it she got it we'll think about the guy you want to do in six months and start building out block content for it in advance of it we'll start writing our block post and the block post can turn into that guy so you can start when you have a system and you can actually take a step back you can start to see down the road it's amazing the clarity you start to get but you can't do that if you don't put the time and the effort into it and then set aside the time and the effort to do it and he started to fall on you start a lapse on this because you have so many other things on your plate it all starts to come unwound we've all been there before I I know I've been there before I didn't start my business with all these amazing systems I didn't they kind of happened and I surrounded myself with people that helped me create better systems you know we're bringing one of them on next in the next segment jeff and aaron young grin are like the master of systems and so they've helped me out I leaned on my friends to help me out I leaned on people that were experts I read articles about it I watched things like creative live I did things to help myself and armed myself with the tools I needed to stay in business because I realized that if I didn't do these kinds of things I wasn't even market my business and I didn't market my photography business it was going to go under because they were constantly so many people that were coming up with the technology in the social media changing so much the way that it changes let's talk about what you needed to be doing quarterly what do you need to be doing quarterly quarterly would be every three months there's different things potentially that you should be every three months instead of every month what are those even talked about update your website for so many photographers that I talked to update our website is kind of the last thing on the list of marketing things they're already in the last thing on the list it's like if I get around to marketing I've got about three hundred things to do before I update my website well set it up is a plan what if while you were what is the plan of update your website part of what you did and jared platt teaches this in his light room of course so are we talking about it in a couple weeks when when he joins creed of live he teaches about when you're going through images you should be tagging the images that are the best of best it could eventually go on your website like I'm doing with him right now you're gonna tag him so if you actually set up a workflow you look at this and you set up a marketing plan that does involve some your systems and when you're going through and cooling your files you've gotten your images back from shootout at whatever it is that you look at your files whatever it is you go through your files and kind of peruse them you identify the best images that could potentially going your website now the sun this because pretty easy to update your website with your new images now listen it's not that hard because you set together a plan versus what I know we used to do the letters begin massive undertaking this is like okay let's build a light room catalogue of every image that was shot last year okay now we have two hundred thousand finished files okay good you know the website's good enough let's just leave it the way you gotta have a right to you got have a system I mean if you shoot you know a bunch of weddings a year he shoot a bunch of senior sessions about their family sessions if you're shooting ah lot of images it's going to be a mountain you're never gonna wanna climb if you don't have a system in place hosting an event for past clients that's a great thing to do quarterly we've talked about all the ideas for events hosting a real estate agent hosting a financial planner getting together all of last year's brides with all of this year's bribe these are all ideas of events you could do you could just go to coffee you could just have it as part of your system where you actually just go to coffee three months after I'm sorry every three months you go to coffee with some random person that was a past client and so every three months you just look down your list of people you know I haven't seen that person awhile let me invite them to cough I mean first of all let me invite them to drink it could be any number of things hosting event is a great idea but hey if you're not at that point you don't have a studio you know the place the host ok no problem take the principle of what it really is about and apply it to how you can put it together in your life you're a landscape photographer if you want to go to coffee with art director if you want to go to coffee with a stock agency person if you want to plan a trip every single quarter where you combine a shooting trip with meeting somebody new in that area again I'm not an expert in landscape photography but I am giving you examples from the wedding photography does that apply to every type of personal service business build one guide for a specific client face again if she doesn't we try to do guides about quarterly that's just what we do but why not try to do guides quarter when I try to make it easy on yourself by having it planned in advance using content you've already created you already have beautiful images you already have blawg post you put together and you can put all this stuff together and give yourself a much easier path byron already had blogged post all about all these adventures you talked about that guy'd have been piece of cake barbara fury had block post you know put together about each of those different segments you talked about about leading into the session you could do a whole block post on what toe where you could do hope you could do a whole block post on how to prepare your baby the day off that's a whole block post right there make sure they don't nap in the car ride over make sure that you know don't get up to that if you could help you know all that everything's going to that that there's a blogger post and then that now spins until guide you can make this easy on yourselves you guys don't try to reinvent the wheel every single time start to see how it layers and this is stuff you do every quarter every three months its on your calendar share a guide you know once you build that guide share it and you know that maybe the exact same sharing process you went through with the block post you do for every single shoot again no need to reinvent the wheel used the same process that you use for sharing a block post as you do with the guide you start to build redundancy is here and this is where you'll start to see that some of these tasks aren't things that you have to be doing yourself you'll start to see the value and the business you'll gain from all this focus on marketing you know start half the time the ability to start to see where you can plug others in to help you out tools I'm going to share a lot of tools with you guys here at the end of the segment that do a lot of this work for you but if you're not planned out they can't do the work for you you know a lot of services both software systems and specialists they can't help you if you're not on track there's no amount of time there's no amount of benefit that she'd done it it can provide you if you are just going round in your images in their duty your client tomorrow you just can't there's just no way around that there's no amount of there's no social media app or two in the world that can help you out if you didn't plan out the social media that you want to share today it can't do that it's not so ah lot of tools I'm gonna share with you a lot of the services you're gonna use they require that you have a fundamental level of planning of a system in place and so in order to get help you almost have to do a little bit of the dirty work yourself you have to kind of plan a little bit this out yourself

Love love love creative live! I have since passed on this fantastic learning environment to my friends! At this stage it's true I'm not a big purchaser not income flush just yet! But want to give feed back on 'content marketing for photographers and the presenter! Actually he's ok good sound information, clearly knows his stuff however my friends and I ditched it because this phrase 'loved on' which he seems to use A LOT! is very creepy, in fact it pretty much grabs our attention so much we keep missing what he's saying, the other one ' lean in' these seem so juvenile teenager like and especially the loved on.... Seriously sounds like a crude sex act! Put us off from buying the content! Shame because we need his help.

Wow - such a great class! I have heard Jared speak before (mostly on pricing), and I have to say, he really knows his Marketing! Absolutely loved the structure of the 3 days, and after each segment, I felt like I had so many actionable items to take and apply to my business. From social media tactics to solving clients' problems through guides to proper blogging strategies, there are so many new ways that I have learned to use content marketing to strengthen my business this year. Jared also found a way to take topics that are not as interesting, such as creating effective emails, and make it engaging for the entire segment! Such a talented speaker. Personally, I think it's great that Jared has small catch phrases such as "lean in" and "love on clients" - it makes him unique! Not only that, but his strategies WORK, so he can phrase ideas as he wants! :) This is definitely a course worth watching, regardless if you have been shooting for years or are just starting out!

Since watching this course I have told not only my photographer friends about it, but many of my other friends who run their own businesses/organizations. This course can transfer to anyone who wants to learn from the best in marketing. All of the presenters were amazing and this course was WELL worth the money and then some. Thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge you have gained in your very successful business to help all of us succeed in ours!
