Shoot: Favorite Poses For Multigenerational Families
Let's start off and do, now that we've kinda demoed that, let's get mom and the girls first, and then, actually no, stay there. Why would I do that? You guys actually looked amazing right there. That made no sense. Let me get you guys right there, and then we can totally do something different. Plus we have some other chairs we may bring in that will be fun. So, just looking at hands, I kinda will just glance at everybody. That's great. I actually think hand back up would be sweet now. Yep, I love that, and Steve I'm gonna actually have you now go back to turning, yep, towards Lola. Yep, so your body is gonna turn, yep, this way. Yep, yep, perfect, and you're gonna actually turn in, and you can hold on to Steve's arm maybe, or put this arm behind him possibly. Yep, there we go, perfect. Steve, you're still gonna slightly lean, yep, just a little bit up and over. I love it, you guys are rocking it, good, good. Darien, shoulder's back, perfect. I loved, yeah I think holding on to your gr...
anddaughter. Hold on to momma, grandma's hands. I love that. You guys look gorgeous. So this first shot we're going to do, this is a very circular shot, this would be very much, (mumbling from family in photo shoot) I know, I am too! (laughing) I am too, okay so Steve, you're gonna lean in a little bit more for me. That's beautiful, and now, that's first shot. Alright you guys, give me your fabulous smiles. I'm just gonna keep watching as you do. Darien, turn your face a little bit to the right. Lola lean over a little bit more. Let's see, Hero turn your face a little bit more. Tath-us hold momma's hands. I love it. In fact, I feel like, Steve you need to come a little bit this way. You can step a foot a little bit this way, too. There we go, tall shoulders. Darien, lean back toward Lola a little bit. Steve, chin down a little bit, perfect. Okay now wait, those are all your fake smiles. (laughter from family) Now I need oh, there we go, there we go, that works, that works. I love it, and now sometimes I talk about those quiet smiles. So I don't want you looking mad, just quiet, just no mad, just relax. Sometimes it helps when you lick your lips, and just kinda breath through them. Just relax, like someone's telling you a story, a nice and quiet, happy, just this quiet, gentle smile. And so Tath-us, I want you to turn your face a little more to the right. Yep, gentle smile, that's beautiful. Now, let's get you guys all huddled tight, squeeze, yep, with your whole family though. Now watch, and Tath-us, your shoulders are like this, let them relax down, there you go. Hero, chin up, chin up, chin up. And I want big squeezes, snuggles, smiles. Come on, you can huddle more than that! There we go, Darien where's your smile? There we go, gorgeous. Tath-us, I need you to turn your face to the right, to the right, there we go, beautiful, beautiful. Wonderful, okay, let's let, um let's just get mom and the girls really quick. So I would just shoot this shot just probably how they are, and then I'll change this up, this is gorgeous. So Hero, take a little baby step towards me. There we go, I love that, great, beautiful. And then, I think this one, let's go quiet "shh", let's go quiet. Hero, turn your face a little bit to the right. Darien, that's gorgeous right there. And actually, I love that, just like that. And, this one's your quiet smile, quiet smile, so no smiling, there we go. Just like that, looking right at me, Hero. Let your lips actually touch, Hero. So go like this, so your lips actually touch, there you go. Okay, big squeezes, big smiles, loving on momma. Darien, where's your smile? That's cute, and let's do this, let's look down at your kiddos. So let your eyes, not your whole head, so that's another thing, that's why I call it eyes down, because you don't want to like, that wouldn't, you know, it's just your eyes, it's just the gentle, you're looking down, um and it's not your whole head. So, yep, I love that. So, chin can come down a little bit, Darien. Yep, perfect, girls keep looking right at me. You're with your momma, you guys look gorgeous, and I feel like, you know what, Tath-us, step your feet back, perfect, good. Good, just like that, beautiful. You're doing awesome. One more right here, eyes down Darien. (mumbles) Now Tath-us put your, um, head straight out. There we go, instead of leaning back into mom, can you bring your head forward a little bit? There we go, beautiful, beautiful. And then actually Darien, looking back at me, looking back at me, that's great. Let's do this, let's get, one of the two girls together, that would be kinda fun, and then we can add in some of the other groupings. 'Cause then in the what we're gonna do next, we're gonna shoot this for a little bit longer, and then we'll actually, we're gonna bring in a different backdrop, and I brought that little ring light. We'll do some different things we haven't done. So, uh girls, I love it. I know, you want to sit on that chair don't ya? No you don't, okay well that's good because I was gonna move it, so we're good. (laughter) Um so, are you guys best buddies? You are, I love it, that's perfect, there you go. Um, my flu shot (laughing), ah cute. Okay so, I will just, so here's one of the things I will do a lot of times, like I'm gonna shoot that, like whatever they did, sure maybe I would tweak, change, move 'em, but I'm gonna shoot that first and then I'll keep evolving the pose. So you guys are just too cute, so ah I love the personality, those are, we're getting some great outtakes. Okay, now looking right at me. Oh did you guys see, I don't know if you were in here when it was happening, but um, the last kids that were here, did you know their noses squeaked? (squeaking noise) What? (squeaking noise) What? (mumbles) Ah, you're too smart, you're too smart, cute. Okay so, you guys slightly rotate this way. Too much, too much, too much, come back, come back, perfect I love it, and now, do you guys know, I'm going to see who has the best quiet smile. Shhh no smiles, so quiet, shhh, so quiet. Let your lips touch, Hero, there you go, okay. (camera clicks) Looking right at me Tath-us. (camera clicks) Cute, big squeezes, big smiles, oh funny faces! Let's do this, you know what's always fun to, let's do this, let's get, I don't want um back to (mumbles) well let's let go, I got that, I got that, well let's let go, let's let go, 'cause we're gonna take more in a little bit too. So let's have you guys, actually, um can you do this? And back to back, not totally back to back, so I love that, now I'm going to come up and adjust this, I don't want them completely back to back. What I want, perfect, is slightly and let's have you guys actually come up right about here, perfect. Oh, watch out sweetie, there we go, oh, can we make your heads just touch? Practice those quiet smiles. Can I fix your hair, is that okay? Okay, (mumbles) back a little bit. You guys rock, you're awesome. Okay, let's just bring this in a little tighter. Okay, so we're gonna do the quiet smiles. Shh with your quiet smile, okay? So, yep, so Hero turn your face a little bit this way. So Hero, yep right there. (camera clicking) Don't you smile at me. Don't you dare, Hero! Do not show me your teeth, do not, oh do not! Oh, she's good, do not smile at me! Okay, I'm joking, show me those big smiles, fun, fun, fun, fun, cute. Tath-us, straighten your head up a little bit, that's beautiful, and now, Hero, look at me, that's cute, and then Hero, what if you turn towards That-us, like turn towards her, like this, your whole body, everything, and then we're gonna what we'll do is we'll add in grandma and grandpa to this would be sweet. So, this time give me, okay you're gonna just gonna do this, let me get one more of the girls real quick, and then, just be right there, we'll get you in one second, I'm sorry. Okay, just like that, so instead of holding on to your sister here, can you just hold on to her arm? So your arm right there, yes just like that, and make your heads touch, bonk your heads together like they're glued together. Can you guys look at each other? (camera clicking and laughing) Now looking at back at me, perfect. Can you say, "fuzzy pickles?" Fuzzy pickles. What, yeah, right there, looking right at me, and go real quiet one more time, shh, gentle, right there. Okay let's get grandma and grandpa in there, I love it, so let's see, now they're excited, I love it. So let me get you guys settled in here. What I think we'll do, let's actually grab um two of these stools again, in fact, you know what, girls, go stand over by momma for one second. You're gonna be in this shot, but just give me one minute. So, we're gonna let, let's see where are we at height-wise? Okay, perfect, so Steve we're gonna put you here. You're gonna sit right there. This is just more up close, super snugly, and then we're gonna make a spot for the kids, for the kids snuggled in. So, this is going to be really important, so you'll have to sit nice and tall, perfect. But then you guys still in the, yep, you got it. Your heads are still coming together, I love that. And Steve, let your head tip a little bit, this way, yep, I love that, this way, that's great. Just right there's beautiful. I still think I would want, let's put a little hand here, just lower, just gently, and kinda, and then your hands aren't in the shot I don't think so they can just cross kinda one on top of the other. And then we'll get the grandkiddos in there with you. Perfect, that's great, but you guys get to do that little bit of a huddle and squeeze. Steve, turn your face a little more to the right, but your eyes still look at me, and then your heads touch. Yep, lots of directions, I know. Give your wife, you know, whisper in her ear. Tell her something, make her laugh. (camera clicking) (laughing) Cute, look at that, you guys are so sweet. Steve, turn your face a little bit this way, and make your heads touch, snuggle in there, beautiful. And stay there for a minute, I'm gonna grab the step ladder, 'cause then I can even maybe show you guys that difference it makes, just that little bit of the angle. Um, it's like super fun, so watch this, I don't know how quick these will, but like, that laugh, like that is not what we were getting. You had great smile, but this is a laugh, totally different look, super fun, just by saying, "whisper in her ear." I know don't what you said, you don't need to tell me. I don't want to know, but. (laughter) But it made her laugh and it was perfect. So, yep, and you guys still, so now, yep, so that's great, those straight on, but I'll shoot one that's a little more at an angle, so it makes you guys put your chins up at me a little bit, and then Steve, let you head tip a little bit. (camera clicking) Give your wife a sweet squeeze again, beautiful. Working it now, I want you guys working it. (laughter) Very cute, and then Steve, what if you actually closed your eyes, leaning on to your wife? Just yep, there we go. And then, go ahead, quiet, no smiles, beautiful, beautiful. Now let's get, so a little bit of angle really changes the look of that image. I mean, maybe that's something we can pull up and compare the two, but let's add those adorable kiddos back in here, so this would be a very simple shot to do. So, probably what I'll have you do is facing grandma, sweet, but your face is still gonna come right back to me and the camera, okay so instead of holding grandma there, knowing I'm cropping these, it's really important, just what am I doing with these hands you know, I don't want them cropping in weird spots, I want them engaged and holding each other. So, and not so much like this, as like, holding each other, you know so, yep, so just kinda yep, hold each other. That's probably about where I'll crop, and you get a cool job, you get to hold grandpa. Do not let him fall down okay? Okay, now, and then let your shoulders relax. Awesome, and then you guys know how to huggle and snuggle, I already know that, so we will get you hug-el-ly and snuggly, still leaning in okay, actually how about you lean in on grandma, and grandma's gonna sit nice and tall, so that's beautiful. Okay, and then Tath-us, yep, right here, beautiful, and let's get Steve, turn a little straighter at me, so there's this little that straight body, this, you got it. There was this little gap that was forming between their shoulders, because they both were turned so sideways, that just straightening him out in that solid black, filled it, that was great. So, you guys all, just a little tighter, and Tath-us, watch, instead of this, relax and let those shoulders down. Chin up a little bit for me, beautiful, you guys look gorgeous, except that's feeling a little stiff and posed, ah you guys tickle grandma and grandpa, make them laugh, come on! There you go, make them laugh, oh that's cute. Oh Hero, where's your smile? You better tickle Hero, grandma. Okay, and then we'll, this one hand, if you look do you see the sneaky hand around Hero's back? Those mystery fingers, I would say lose it. So grandma, that hand that's around Hero, just let it disappear. I think that will be better than just a couple fingers peaking around the back. Okay, perfect, Tath-us, shoulders down a little bit. Okay, workin' it, workin' it. I need everybody, heads glued together. Smoosh in together, smoosh in together. Perfect, perfect, Tath-us, shoulders, oh that's beautiful. Hero, grandma's gotta tickle you again? Where's that smile? Perfect, looking right there, Tath-us, shoulder down. Beautiful, stay there, let's add you guys into this really quick, and that's what we'll end on. So wait, wait, stay there, stay there, stay there. Okay, snuggle in, so now what we're gonna do, let's get you guys all settled, perfect. So snuggly, I love it, okay, so Lola, you're gonna let your arms just rest down, kinda right about there, yep, you guys, actually I love that, now let's, and I'm gonna stay at that little bit of an angle. Let me see how this looks, hold on. Okay, so feel like Lola, I want to, I feel like I want to get you guys somehow a little bit closer together. Hold on, scoot, let's flip flop places. Come over here, hold on, I'm not sure what, wait, wait, wait, we're gonna kinda stagger this way so you're not right behind, yep, you're here Darien. Try it, so this is what I do with clients, and I have like no problem like eh that didn't work quite right, and we move in and do something else. So I'm gonna bring you actually right here. I'm seeing what happens. So this would probably be a case, just I'm gonna look where I almost would probably have something to stack Lola up a little bit, just because, or lower the stools, so I could easily lower stools or raise, so not your fault, I just don't have quite the right stool for ya. So, what we can do, I'm thinking I'm gonna bring you around even more, come around this side, yep and that makes a better spot for you. And you're gonna kinda be that tippity toe up and over awkward, awkward, pose, feels awkward, but it looks good pose. So Steve, you're sitting taller, I got you hunching too much. Tall shoulders, tall shoulders, let's straighten your head up. There we go, yep, perfect, and then everybody's, I love that, that actually looks really great. So snuggling in, so this would be like another pose of the family. I love that, that's great, cute, and then let's do this, let's, Darien you gotta snuggle down little closer, yep, perfect, oh I love that. That's good, workin' it everybody. (laughter) (camera clicking) And then let's try one, I'm gonna move, I would just keep changing it, like okay, I like that. Tath-us why don't you come over here by mom, and let's keep the girls together, that'd be kinda cute. There we go, and then Steve you can kinda just hold right there, your wife's arm, perfect. And then Lola, you're gonna do that awkward up and over. Yep, and then yep, everybody's snuggling, leaning. Oh that's sweet, I love that, actually I like that better I think. Okay, and then Hero, your job is to look, you got it. Look at me, chin up a little bit, beautiful, great smiles. You guys look amazing. Now I want the real smiles, the little bit smooshed in. Perfect, and everybody go little quieter for one. Real just quiet, so this is that no smile, lips touching, quiet. Can I make you guys make all your heads touch? Is that too awkward? What happens if I make you, your head has to touch the person next to you, alright. Uh Lola, you gotta go tippy toes. There we go, good job, I know this is struggle right there. That's awkward isn't it, but it looks amazing. Can you lean forward a little bit more? And then, yep perfect, and then go quiet. This is the last one right there. (camera clicking) Awesome, relax down, awesome guys. Weren't they amazing?

All I have to say is - Vicki you are a saint. To handle four kids, dog and their parents too, not to mention a class of students watching...AND YOU'RE TAKING PHOTOS, GOOD ONES!! All I know is, I could not handle that as you have even though I was a teacher for 25 years (K-12, all of them) - and wonderful people like you are far and few between. May you stay healthy and happy and continue interacting with kids and parents - you really have a talent! (I had to turn the sound off on the vid because it was driving me crazy,, with kids, dog, etc etc!)

It was true to life and yes, a bit chaotic. But I enjoyed it, it shows the work that often does go into a session with all the multitasking. I got some great ideas for poses, and learned some new way to interact with younger children. Thank you for a honest session and not a perfect planned one.

Awesome class, really informative, and loved how you handled all the chaos. Great sales and promotional advice from your hubby too. Fantastic, well rounded :)
