Shoot: Favorite Poses With Dogs

Yep, I think this will be kind of fun So I'm loving this even how you are holding her right now just a little more casual. We're gonna have the dog back here So the whole family kind of hanging out. Valentino can sit, he can lay. Rather than all being scrunched on the couch. In fact, you guys can take a few steps up. You don't have to be right up against. I'm envisioning you right about here. Right there. Yep right there. Good boy. And then let's see Let me come up And then I'm gonna bring you sweetie Ms. Riley back with momma, perfect. Let's bring this reflector in. You guys are doing awesome. Yep that's looking good. I like that. Okay and everybody let's see, actually that's pretty good actually take one baby step this way. And then your gonna snuggle in nice and close I'll do one quick (Group yells Valentino) (Vicki yells Valentino) Kiome Valentino where you going? Valentino. Outtake there we go Okay, well bring him back around. Okay go back, Valentino I got a treat Stay there Okay ...

you want to give it to him. Here can I break it in half? Yeah. What's that squeaky thing? I know it's my nose. Go on back. Snuggle up. You guys are doing so great. Stand right back, yep. You feed it to him I love that. Alright, everybody looking right here Valentino Want treat Then, huggle a little more arms around each other a little bit more. Snuggly, a little bit more. Kiome Can we try the shoulders one more time. Oh no, she does not like that. Okay, alright, alright. You know what we're gonna do. We're gonna get one of... Kids can you sit on the ground right next to your dog. Yeah, I like that. Okay you gotta go get Valentino You gotta go get Valentino You gotta get Valentino. Sit down, sit down Sweet heart, I'm gonna bring you over here Can you sit by your sister. Come right over here. I love that And then you guys are gonna actually going to snuggle down, I feel like kneel down and snuggle down that way Yep. Perfect and then can you come over by nope let's bring you back by momma. A little more sweetie There you go. And can you scoot all the way back? And go criss cross applesauce, okay that's good, that's cute. Okay, I got that little squeaker Alright, everybody snuggle in Chris, can you scoot this way more so you and Sophie are more in the middle. Yep can you go criss cross applesauce with those cute toesies. (Squeak) Riley can you scoot in a little closer Yep, there go to momma there we go I don't know. I do that to get your doggie's ears Want a treat, Valentino. Yeah, you know what. Right there. (squeak) Valentino. (knocking) Valentino. (squeak) There we go everybody that's cute. Looking up Everybody snuggle in tall, tall, tall snuggle in, there we go I love it. Awww, that's an outtake. Everybody look at each other. Dad has stinky feet. No, I'm kidding (squeak) Valentino. Do you want treat? Valentino. Want treat? Okay, everybody else looking right here. In fact, why don't... Let's do this. Just Kiome and Valentino there. The rest of you go up against the wall. You guys are gonna actually stand up. I think, I'll need to see. He's gonna want to be with you. So this is what we're gonna do Chris if you want to help me. Yep. Let's find a spot Okay, so get Valentino right about here maybe You know what. You guys all go in the background. Keep him there. This is gonna just be your legs behind him. (squeak) Valentino. You want to snuggle up with him, okay. (squeak) Valentino. If Riley can scoot in a little closer to momma. You guys take a step towards me just a little bit. Valentino (squeak) She gonna eat the dog treats? Perfect, let's get everybody... Hold on. She's gonna stay there. Let's get the two of them Let's get her back there too. Maybe pick her up Maybe pick up Kiome. So how much will Valentino let the kids lay on him Cause I have this vision of all the kids like super snugglely. So I'm gonna need you guys help. Do we have that step ladder at all? So guys I'm up on this tall ladder again you need to snuggle up on your dog. Everybody look up here. Snuggle, can you put your head next to your doggie Kiome, Kiome (squeak) And then I need Riley looking at me Riley, there we go. Kiome. That's okay That's all right. You know what we'll do. All the kids standing up next to the dog This is just gonna be your kids feet. Yep, so can everybody just stand right next to your dog Stand right next to Valentino. We'll start even it's these three then we will add Kiome, yep. So let's get this so you guys are all standing. Will he lie down at all. So we're gonna see if we can get Valentino to lay down. Can we do it at the very end? Okay, I'll set it right up here for you to play with So we're gonna see if you all can stand right next to your dog. Can you go stand right next to Valentino? So you guys are standing next to each other so I see all of your feet. Yep, can you hold hands? Can you stand next to each other that'll help There you go that's cute. Can you hold your sister hand? So you guys are gonna hold Valentino back. So we gonna let you guys all hold hands. Two on each side Just hold hands. Can you hold Riley's hand? See if you can get Kiome to hold Ki's hand? Everybody else stay there, nobody else move. Nobody else move. You guys are doing awesome. You're doing so awesome So we're gonna get... See if you guys can hold hands. Pull them back a little bit about four or five feet Or about two feet. Pull them back by two feet. Okay. Oh my gosh. So kids I'm gonna have you guys all stand next to him. And I might have mom and dad run up there to help me with this to just get the kids. I'm just gonna get there feet so I don't care if they're looking at each other and talking. See if you can get Kiome to hold Ki's hand for one picture. Riley, can you take a few steps towards me so I can see your feet. Okay, and get close. You gotta get your feet next to each other. Get next to each other. Feet down Ki. Ki both your feet straight down on the ground. You guys are doing so good. And then Chris I'm gonna have you right here Cause to see if Valentino will look at you. Okay, and see if we can get Kiome next to Ki. There we go. Okay right there, perfect. Feet down everybody. We get one. That's cute. Let's just do one last fun family one. Maybe, we can bring in a couple of these posing stools will be kind of fun. And then yeah this will be the last one. We'll get a couple of these. So yeah, I want to get mom and dad back in here again. In fact, you know what I might do? Are we okay wit letting Valentino just hang out there? I wanna just really quick see if I can grab one cool studio panoramic vertical pose of your family without Valentino and then we'll finish up with one quick shot of Valentino. We'll be good No, he's gonna hang out there. I'm gonna crop in I think. So we're gonna get arms crossed leaning back against dad a little bit sassy. So arms yep more like this. And then I've gotta get... I'd like to get you taller Mister. Ki what happens if you come back here behind dad. Can you, I don't want you to stand on that, but if you kneel on that. Does that get you tall enough. How tall are you? Way too tall to stand on that. If you hold on to mom and dad are you way to tall to stand on that? That might work. Hold on we're gonna get. So this is the pose right. Snuggle up, holding mom and dad. You guys get in tight. This is a tight shot. Your the top of this one. You really to lean in that way. Yep are you okay up there buddy? Lean in holding mom and dad. There you go got 'em. We're gonna go horizontal panel . Get the dog out the shot. Okay Kiome. Let me get the dog right there, perfect And then let's get Kiome. Hold Kiome up a little bit. There we go. Everybody looking right at me. Snuggly. Snuggly. Snuggly. Nope you're not gonna like that I'm not gonna do that, okay. That's okay. That's my bad. Wasn't thinking was just looking at you guys. Okay awesome, Mr. Riley. So Chris lean your head this way a little bit. There we go. I love it you're holding Kiome sideways. Ki taller, taller, taller. Kiome, Kiome, hi. Hello. What? Right up here I'm gonnna get that squeaker again. Where'd it go? Kiome. (squeak) What is that? Kiome? (squeak) Tell me all about it. Everybody looking right at me. Right at me. Right here. One, two, three big smiles. Everybody, oh that's cool. I love that. Lean down on him that's so cute. Right there, okay. Everybody one, two, three big smiles. Kiome. Are you done? Alright guys I think we're good. I think we got what we wanted to. So thank you guys so much. That was super great. That was amazing. I will tell you I am usually more in with the dog but they specifically told me ahead of time that dog is the guard dog, protective of their family. So you even saw that I wasn't worried but when I even went up to do something. The dog kind of... They said he'll try to block you so there was a little bit of more hands off. Then, maybe I would be if it was a dog that I'm touching and playing with. But I think it was great I think you still saw what I'm trying to accomplish and do... Absolutely, six people four children and one big loving puppy dog. My ultimate goal really. So I kind of did the two look thing I know we got a cute one with the dog on the couch. And then we did some of the other poses. And I actually think we got a pretty cute one with just the kids feet and the dog. So I sort of have certain ones in mind that I want to make sure I try to get. And I think we did that. And that family gave us a ton. They were in three sessions today, so I think they did great and their dog did great. I think that's kind of the thing is understanding that in all that chaos. You're only needing to get one in each of those scenarios or a couple. Is that what you are aiming for? Right, I know specifically that some of those I'm shooting I know you know what this isn't the one but we are gonna keep working at it for sure. It's a lot of back and forth going up to them and coming back. Things like that but, I would say there are little things like that rolling camera stand I talked to you about. Obviously, not being tethered. I would have that sitting there. So I don't necessarily have the camera on me it's already to go. So I have the camera set and I'm running back and forth and it kind of just rolls up and down. I can work quicker. Then like I'm setting it in here then here getting the squeaker. Some people had asked earlier if you used a tripod but that is your... Instead of using a tripod I prefer that because you can roll it It's long, it's massive it has a little tray I can put all these little things I'm like reaching and grabbing. I put my squeaker, my light meter, the yo-yo thing I was using to get attention the dog treats. Any of that stuff would be right there, and then it's on wheels. I can just roll it back and forth. I can leave it on there, go engage. I mean this has been great but definitely that's something I use that's very helpful in the studio. When I'm on location, we'll definitely use a tripod when needed, but a lot of times I'm just hand holding and got the spider holster as well.

All I have to say is - Vicki you are a saint. To handle four kids, dog and their parents too, not to mention a class of students watching...AND YOU'RE TAKING PHOTOS, GOOD ONES!! All I know is, I could not handle that as you have even though I was a teacher for 25 years (K-12, all of them) - and wonderful people like you are far and few between. May you stay healthy and happy and continue interacting with kids and parents - you really have a talent! (I had to turn the sound off on the vid because it was driving me crazy,, with kids, dog, etc etc!)

It was true to life and yes, a bit chaotic. But I enjoyed it, it shows the work that often does go into a session with all the multitasking. I got some great ideas for poses, and learned some new way to interact with younger children. Thank you for a honest session and not a perfect planned one.

Awesome class, really informative, and loved how you handled all the chaos. Great sales and promotional advice from your hubby too. Fantastic, well rounded :)
