Shoot: Siblings Laying On Rug

Let's get the sisters, lets do a sisters' shot here. Yep, so what we're gonna do with this, cool, so there's two ways I would shoot this, the normal way you would think. In fact, you know what, stand up, stand up, stand up, stand up. I'm gonna turn this, one second. Here, hop up off the rug, hop up off the rug, one second, one second. So there's three main ways I would shoot with this. One second, oh we're gonna rotate it, like this. So, the three ways, can I be in your picture with you guys? I'll be like your sister. (laughter) So, oh, you're gonna get me, ah, I'm so ticklish, oh no. (laughter) So what we're gonna do, so for sure, I'm on the ground shooting at 'em. This is for sure a shot. I'm on the ladder, shooting down at 'em. This is definitely, so this is the shot you have to watch that the heads, foreheads aren't going up too much. And then from above, we can also have them laying down, looking up. So, again, individually, all of them. So the first shot though, I want you guys j...

ust to lay on your tummies, right next to each other, right there. Facing me, facing me, I'm gonna be over here, I'm gonna be over here. Turn, turn, turn. And back up a little bit, let's see, we might have to pull that back, we'll just have to see. Okay, so, back up even more, even more. So I'm gonna crop this and shoot in a way, I don't wanna see the feet. Let's get your heads touching. Can you glue, act like you're gluing your ears together? And then your feet go straight down, straight. Now watch, pull your hair a little bit, Kioko, just do a little. Oh thank you, you have such a nice sister! Okay, and then glue those ears together. You gotta look up at me, Kioko. (parents giving instructions from off camera) Op, op, op, we got- (laughter) Well, alright, there we go. (laughter) Oh, you wanna be, okay. My goodness, I'm sort of in love with, oh dear, pull her back, oh no, okay. Well, okay, that's alright, we'll do it, we'll do it. Okay, get your heads together guys, heads together. Kioko look at the camera, Kioko. Kioko, watch, hug your arms together, can you do that? Hug your arms together, chin up at me, feet down, feet down, feet down, feet down, chin up at me, Kioko. Where's that tiger? Is it on my head? No. No? And watch, pull that hair outta your eyes a little bit, Sweetheart. Glue those feet on the ground, can you glue those feet on the ground? You know what, can you take her shoes off, actually? I tend to photograph most of my sessions bare feet, but they have such cute shoes I'm totally fine with this. But for this shot, let's just, feet down, feet down. Okay, look at the camera. Okay, look up, look up, look up, and then look in right here. Put your feet down Kioko. And look at, oh is there a frog on my head, remember that frog we were talking about earlier? Can you do that quiet smile? Shh, no smile, shh. Looking right here, huh, op, nope (laughter). Okay, looking right at me. Hands down, hug yourself, hug yourself, hug yourself. Kioko. And look at me, look at me, chin up, chin up, Kioko. Glue your ear to your sister's ear, can you make your heads bonk together? Bonk your heads together. Hands down, op, hi! Oh hi, oh, can you sit on the rug? Will you sit on the rug? Show me, there we go. Oh, is she gonna go. Okay, there, that's right. I didn't get one of her on the couch, so. Okay, let's actually do this, let's change this up for you guys. Here, here, here, let's do this. You guys sit down, cute! I'm gonna have you guys sit down on your bottoms. Yep, I'll just finish this and then we'll get the rug outta the way and then we'll go back to the couch. So, you guys are gonna sit down, do you want that, are you hot? You wanna take that off? You can, here we go. So no, you gotta sit on your bottom. And look, do you think I can touch the ceiling in here? You guys have to watch me. You keep watching. No, oh no, you gotta sit on your bottom, you sit nice and tall. You've still gotta glue your heads together. Glue your heads together. No, okay, no. (Dad giving directions from the other side of the room) Look, I need you to make sure that frog does not come back in and jump on my head. So put your hands down, hands down, and then sit tall, sit tall. And then glue your heads together. I'll have to get it, hold, nope. Look in here, wait, wait, wait, listen, huh. I have to tell you something. Look right up here, shh quiet. Awesome, okay, let's do this, now lay down on your backs. And if Kiomo wants to try this with them, it'd be so sweet of the girls. Okay, so watch so, wait, wait, wait, wait, we're gonna flip flop you guys a little bit. So let's do this, one of you feet go off, so Riley let your feet go that way. Lay on your back, pull your shirt, pull your shirt, and then Kiomo, here let me help you, you are so cute. Oh my gosh! You guys are doing amazing. Kioko. She's trying, okay, so we're gonna rotate. I don't want all your heads at the same spot, so humor me. You're gonna turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, who just like that. And then glue your ear next to your sister, Riley, you're ears right there, perfect. And then we're gonna see if we can get, Kiomie to jump right back in here. So, I can, okay, you guys looking right here. (camera shutter) And then Kioko, Turn your face a little bit to the, turn your face, Kioko, turn your face a little bit to your left. Watch my finger, can you turn your face this way a little bit, just right there. And make your heads touch, op (mumbles). Here, Riley, look right here. (camera shutter) Aww, can you bonk your heads together and we see if you guys, one of you wanna drop Kiomo in and once, like, right there in one second, then we're gonna go back to the couch pose, yep. (toddler crying) Make your heads touch, can you bonk your heads? Perfect. See if we can put Kiomo right here facing this way, her feet towards the window, her head touching Riley. Huh, oh, peek a boo! No, put her, try one more time. You can sit down there by her too if you want. You can sit right, I'm just up close. Okay, so good, ah, Kiomo, Kiomo, op, op, hand back Mom, hand back Mom, there we go. Do it one more time, hand down Kioko. Kioko, put your hand down, remember, don't- (mumbles) (toddler squealing) Looking at each other, that's okay, no that's okay, we got some, you know what, we got good shots to show everybody.

All I have to say is - Vicki you are a saint. To handle four kids, dog and their parents too, not to mention a class of students watching...AND YOU'RE TAKING PHOTOS, GOOD ONES!! All I know is, I could not handle that as you have even though I was a teacher for 25 years (K-12, all of them) - and wonderful people like you are far and few between. May you stay healthy and happy and continue interacting with kids and parents - you really have a talent! (I had to turn the sound off on the vid because it was driving me crazy,, with kids, dog, etc etc!)

It was true to life and yes, a bit chaotic. But I enjoyed it, it shows the work that often does go into a session with all the multitasking. I got some great ideas for poses, and learned some new way to interact with younger children. Thank you for a honest session and not a perfect planned one.

Awesome class, really informative, and loved how you handled all the chaos. Great sales and promotional advice from your hubby too. Fantastic, well rounded :)
