How to shoot: Reception intro and Grand entrance
We have gotten through the wedding, right? We are, we are done shooting uh the ceremony. Hopefully, we've done the pre ceremony. Obviously, we've done um we've been able to do the group shots, we've done portraits, we've done the formal photos. Um So what's left? Right? The reception, the reception is uh broken down into several parts. And so just for ease, these lectures will be a little shorter, but just for ease for you to be able to get back to them specifically, I'm gonna break them up into little sections for here for you in these lectures. So in this uh in this one, let's just talk about the reception in general. What happens typically during the reception, the grand entrance is the first thing to shoot that. Think about that, like the ceremony, right? It's going to be two people walking in or it's gonna be multiple people walking in, right? Because we have the grand entrance is usually the bridal party or the parents. So I like to look at that like I'm shooting um the ceremony.
It's more documentary style. You kind of have to go with the flow and see where you're at hopefully there'll be enough light because they're being presented. So you don't need to use a flash when I'm shooting a grand entrance. I usually use a 70 to 200 I step back, I get out of people's way and I try to find a spot where I know I can nail them coming out of the doors. Very similar to the ceremony. Right. When we're looking down the aisle and waiting for someone to come, we'll be on that 70 to 200 so that we can adjust quickly. So that's gonna be the first thing at the reception before that you're gonna be able to shoot the details of the reception and that's gonna be in our next lesson.
