Project Life Products
Now the other part of this a ce faras getting started is the product understanding what the product is and understanding what to do with it. So keep in mind what a scrapbook is its photos in a place where we store them photos on your phone isn't really a scrapbook I mean it's photos on your phone but to actually put them in the in the house put them in a place the physical space that's what a scrapbook is coming together there are, um well let's let's dig into a product review ok? When it comes to project life, there are three main things that you would need to complete an album, and when I say an album, I'm talking about a standard twelve by twelve three ring album all right, so this is what you would need you would be the album itself can't have a scott book unless something's holding it together okay, easy done. The next thing that you would need is a large if we call a big pack of photo pocket pages and if you wantto see if we have one of those on bill come back that more detail bu...
t a big pack of photo pocket pages is exactly what it sounds like photo pocket pages pages with pockets for your photos thank you and so what this what this product looks like is it comes in a big pack that's why we caught a big pack of photo pocket pages so in this big pack on and there's lots of different options for this you're going to see that what it has in here very intentional there are sixty why sixty a big pack of sixty and that is because in my experience sixty photo pocket pages that really well in an album you might need more you might need less doesn't matter I mean you can you can adjust that as needed, but this will give you a start tio if you're if you're starting a scrapbook and you're not even sure where you want to begin with the plastics and stuff, just get a big pack photo pocket pages and they come in variety packs a swell so what you're looking at right now is designed a we'll talk about all the designs in a minute, but there are other options as well ok, the second thing I sorry that that was the second thing the third thing album photo pocket pages and then you would need a project life cork it project like court catch one of grab one is is a box it's a kit that comes with a bunch of cards in it and as we've explained with project life it's all about slipping photos and journaling cards into pockets, so I'm showing you an example where I happen to grab the heritage one you're seeing muted colors, soft palate, you know, kind of the browns and blues and things that go well with heritage and I'm going to show you more options, but just to give you an idea, this makes me happy because it's compartmentalized it's organized everything is sitting in a pocket there's not stuff flying everywhere could scrap booking can have that reputation of just chaos, you know, things were flying around everywhere. This is very organized because that's how I've gotta have things in my own world so the cork it very nice I have to you have tio realize also there's a magnetic closing on this list so it just stays together it's in a box and so if you're going to this term that we use in segment one a crop, you're going to a crop, we're going somewhere to scrapbook, you literally can just take what's here with the album and you're not having to like hall suitcases, ok, you don't have to do that so those of the main components going back to that side of what you need, you need the album, the cock, a photo pocket pages and the court kept in order to complete the scott book you do, of course need also your photographs and you need a pen to write with and do you need anything else girls, do you you don't really do not. This really could be a simple as you want to be in a later segment, we will talk about thinking about excusing thinking outside the box we're going to talk about creative ways that you can embellish if you want tio we have a lot of people watching who want to do things creatively and they want to spend more time. Maybe they have more time for this hobby. Cool, good, we're going to cover that, but for the most part and what I love to promote its simplicity simple, simple keep it simple and my world if it's simple, I'll get it done simple done got that got to keep it simple in order for me to get it done, so this is really important doesn't go through the product now everything that I'm going to show you in terms of the product now is it's all the same system it's it's, the photo pocket pages, it's the cork, it and it's, the album's there's nothing more complicated than that, but we do have options for each of these products because what I'm working on is different than what you're working on somebody's going to working on heritage, somebody's going to working on current pictures, somebody's going back to the seventies with their pictures and everyone has a different project and we have different styles. Okay, my style is different than your styles different in her style and we want to be able to use products that really best enhance our pictures our pictures, not the product our pictures are the star of the show they are what should be noticeable in the album so you want the product tio support that and to enhance that and to make it look its best so let's go through the plastics I call him the plastics a photo pocket pages and what I'm going to dio is I'm gonna show you what some of these different designs are and the purpose of this is because I showed you design a and on dh that's that's great design a is four by six and three by four pockets and all good but what if you don't have horizontal pictures and you know what? If you want to switch things around that's that's why I'm going to show you I'll tell you right off the bat we started with design a it's a classic project life lay out most of us take mostly horizontal pictures I know there are exceptions that's not the standard that's not the role I'm just saying data shows most of us take mostly for my six sorry horizontal pictures the three by four pockets that you see are designed for cards the journaling cards that we're gonna get to later so this is design a I'm going to flip through each designed so that you can see the differences between them but what I want you to keep in mind is that you have options but you don't have to complicate this for example, I like to stick with design a just to keep it simple for myself, but I have on hand all the other options in case I want to tap into the once in a while designed be shows three vertical pictures and then you would actually put the journal in cards horizontally and why can you do that? Because they are versatile we have them double sided for a reason ok, this is designed see all horizontal four by six because sometimes you don't have anything to say you just want to throw some photos in the album and be done, but by move on, okay that's what this one is really nice for that and I'm going to not I'm not gonna label and talk about in depth each one, but I want you to see vertical pictures horizontal down the middle journaling cards this is a favorite some people go, what do you do with that? And you're going to see later when we show ideas this one is you know they're all six by six squares think handprints of kids think art cut down think larger pictures you want to blow up this one has a space for a title card or four by six photo and then all of them are small so you get more on everything I'm showing you is four by six and three by four look at the combination horizontal and vertical on the same page yeah, you know I e oh yeah this is design eight h has two horizontal pictures and two three by four cards everyone loves this one design I think about your instagram pictures your square photos and just slipping them in this one's the same idea but has a card next to it for journaling this one has even more space a full twelve by twelve we're getting into some of our newer designs this design k square photos top and bottom with journaling cards through the middle remember the one that looked like this? Flip it on its side this is for all vertical four by six photos again square but instead of top bottom it's on the side inside and then three by four cards down the middle more combination of square four by four which by the way, let me just point out this doesn't have to be about instagram photos only a lot of us have a stack of four by six photos we want to do something with just simply trying to inches off of the side and you contribute down like that more combination of three by four cards four by four by four through the middle all for my four squares we have been asked about thiss and it's finally here, zain p going on combination of four by six and four by four flipped on its side and then we have this where you have lots of space for journaling and then a few for my six photos lots of three by four opportunities not just for photos to turn them down but also journaling cards so this is a chance to put like lots of writing or something and on and on and on all the way through design z so we thought starting this that design a b and c and d you were great and then we realized but you can't do this and you can't do that and I have this image and I have you know, and so we want to provide options same simple system options we also have page protectors they're not divided pockets, so I don't call these photo pocket pages they are page protectors, but they're hard to find and I'm so thrilled that we could offer them and that is the standard sizes that pictures come in for professional pictures, birth certificates, school awards think about the things they have to slip into pages that don't have to take up a full twelve by twelve page you'll see examples of this later, but five by seven bye bye seven in both. Skip this forward five by seven horizontal and vertical ok eight by ten horizontal and vertical. No, as I said eight by ten in half by eleven eight by ten because a lot of portrait's coming that size both orientations and we do have a half by eleven you confined this pretty easily that some people really like their brand to just match through the album I get that and so I wanted to give you that as well as the horizontal version because you have sometimes artwork papers of things that are horizontal and then we have one of my favorite size six by twelve and this could be great for just one large picture dramatic effect or lots of journaling on terror. And then, of course, for those who do want to implement traditional scrapbooking within their project life, we have a standard twelve by twelve page protector that will cover that. So those air the plastics as we call them and they are available in all these different configurations to give you options. Some of you are gonna wanna have it all. I like to have it all, but really you don't have to if you know that you've got a stack of four by six photos you on ly need one or two designs and that's that's great just leave it alone don't make it anymore complicated now, as far as options with the cork it we do not have time to go into all of the details. I would love this hearing pour through all the cars of each edition, and I'll just give you an idea of just how they look different. I'm not even gonna open the packaging, and I'm not going toe go through all the cards. Thank you, but I'm gonna give you an idea, just the variety that's available. And if you were to ask me how many different editions we have, I honestly couldn't tell you. We started with project three, sixty five when you first got that right when we started the business and became project life, and we we offered it, and in the cherry edition, our whole idea was that we're going to offer a new edition every year, a new addition every year, which became lots and lots of additions, because, obviously there's a huge need for this, the simplicity. And so if we can, I hope that you can see this. Ok, this is an example of one that one of our newer ones, the sunshine edition, and just to give you an idea, you could just see it's vibrant it's fun, it's, funky it's, designed by elsie and emma, who are sister designers who have a very popular blogged and company a beautiful mess. A lot of people know who they are, and so they're excited about this. You're going to get a taste of what's in the box just by looking on the packaging. But certainly you start pouring through these cards and it's so much fun. It's so much fun to see all the different designs. This is the craft edition has a craft color look to it and you can see the colors a little bit more muted. This is a popular when the honey edition very fun, bright, happy. This is the one that I used on that lay out that I showed you last segment with claire, just q and youthful go completely on the other side of the spectrum. The cinnamon edition just to give you an idea is very much brown's black, maybe blue and just gorgeous, and some people actually use this for heritage. But we do have a an actual heritage edition, but this one is more just like a muted which her kind of masculine colors just one more example. Give you an idea. The midnight edition is our most minimalist and simplistic style and it's all black white with a little pop, a yellow it's so cool, so modern. List haman aha designed that we have lots of different designers we don't have just a couple sitting at a desk who are just pumping out product we have a lot of designers and they've all been hand picked hand picked all of our designers because I know I want that certain look or this certain look so as you dive into your project and decide beginning with the end in mind okay I want to do this take a look at the options that are available to you so that you can find a product best suits your theme or your knees ok and all of those come with a coordinating album we have designer albums that are fun and patterns but we also have a full spectrum of leather faux leather albums as well as cloth albums all in solid colors. I personally am a stand of the solid colors because I begin with the end in mind and my my end goal is I dio I hate to admit it but I do like that clean, unified you know look of just solid colors on my shelf and so I have a certain color for my family albums I have a certain color for each of my kids and so forth um let me show you a couple of things everything that you could want to see is coming to our site we'll talk about that but let me just really quickly show you just the right here way have uh coordinating products with each of the additions I talked about there are dividers and these the's dividers come with each edition that we offer and what they are and you'll be seeing more of this later but you can see it's just a clear, clear plastic book kind looks like a bookmark remember, like the franklin covey days like those clear uh sorry the those day planners let me just point out that when you get this package of dividers, you need to make sure that you are taking as about plastic and peeling it off because now it's really clear this is just for you know, yeah, you want to get rid of that? I know right? A lot of people don't realize that there's a film on there that you want to get off and they just think it's a little cloudy and I'm telling you it comes really clear so just know that scott pointed fighters and the reason for these is because you can actually segment your album so if you have for example, your whole childhood in an album well, you probably wanna have sections like baby years, toddler years middle school high school you know, whatever whatever your categories are thes air excellent, it comes with a set of twelve for each we also have a theme themes cards these theme cards we have currently about thirty six packs you're seeing for random ones right here you see theme park and music graduation christmas I just randomly pulled these out of a basket but they all I have a specific theme everything in the cork it's is very generic very every day and so when you are going about your regular scrapbooking and use this as a core product for cards in your in your book well, sometimes you're going to come across that theme that you do want to kind of emphasize a little bit let's take theme part for example to go to a theme park doesn't matter which one fun happy, vibrant theme park kind of ideas are in this pack so it says right here this will make you have enough cars in here to meet twelve pages worth of themed theme park pages same with music maybe you have a child who's involved in music maybe you are a musician maybe you just love music then it would be nice to have these on hand for those that particular theme those particular pictures christmas graduation we have pets, we have sports, we have not just generic pets, we have cats, we have dogs and we have the soccer football and tennis and so you can see that there are so many options but it still breaks it down by you're still just using the same thing plastics, cards, photo pocket pages, cards you're still just slipping them in and we're going to talk about organization later so we'll talk about kind of when you get to have a lot of stuff but when I want to wrap up with is where to get this stuff it's actually very accessible now when we started the company, we just kind of sold it directly through amazon it's now it's on amazon that is a great resource for being able to purchase project life. You can also find it and all of these major crossed stars cross and hobby stores and there are there are stores large and small in both the united states and outside of the u s that are carrying project life and it is growing all the time. So my point is that project life is not hard to find if you if you're going for convenience and you just want to buy it online, buy it online if you want to touch it, smell it, feel it you know, open up the box, then go to the store I encourage you to go shopping how you like to go shopping and that's why we want to provide the options I do want to point out that our web site becky higgins dot com is the home base for everything to do with project life. It is it is brand new designed as of monday, and we're filming here live on a wednesday, so my point is, is that we stripped it clean, we cleaned up everything and we're building it back up, but right now, it's very simple, it's very clean and nice, but we are introducing something to the web site that we've never had before, which is a shopping cart on becky hagen's dot com, which means that you could just buy directly from us if you prefer, and so just know that that option is coming is being built. We've been working on it for weeks is on its way. And so for those of you who visit becky higgins dot com right now, you may see that it's not there. You're not seeing all the products it's because we're working on it and it is coming so you do not need a huge space for scrap booking. I'm spreading a lot of stuff out of here out on the table. Some of you do collect a lot of project life stuff. A lot of guilty face is good for you that's, okay? Because it can still look pretty. I designed the packaging to be very clean, I'm very inspired by clean white. In fact the on ly reason some of the stuff is on here is because you have to have it on there for retail you have to have three languages for certain stores and blah blah blah I really want the packaging to look pretty on your shelf I wanted to look pretty on my shelf so our packaging itself is very clean and nice even stuff that seems a little bit more random I can fit into organizational tools which we'll talk about later okay just to wrap up for this particular segment I want to talk about four things to keep in mind before you go shopping because I want you to go shopping but I want you to just like I know what you're doing before you go on just by everything that you think it's killed which is also fine that's fine too but I have in mind your goals what kind of projects do you want to accomplish keep in minds like we're breaking it down we're not doing it all least not this week or this month we are focused we know the project that we want to work on ok what do I need for that think about your budget I want you to be sensible if you have you know if you have no budget happy shopping thanks for shopping that's great but I don't want anyone to be stressed out about I don't want any spouses to be upset with you know expenditures like scrapbooking your marriage is more important than the stuff okay? So keep in mind your budget before you go shopping and be realistic and consider those resources that you have or don't have face where where are you going to scott buck again we'll talk about this in the next segment but think about where you're going to set up shop and what kind of space you have because if this were my space this little table right here not a room and not shelves then I showed the head could not have all the stuff here it just wouldn't work and so that's another thing to keep in mind before you shop and then also what's your scrapbooking type you know this is something to consider because you have to be realistic and I want you to stay motivated and some people are going to best work if they have a ton of stuff I have lots of friends who that that is how they thrive they want the stuff that's surrounding them they're inspired by that and it keeps them motivated and I think that's a beautiful thing I'm the type that I want to have all the stuff I want to not see it I want it back behind you on shells I want out of the way I want to know that it's successful to me and then when I'm working I bring out on ly what I'm worth and that's all that I need on ben. Likewise, you know, there are people on the other, the spectrum who the thought of even having more than the album, the photo pocket pages and the cork it is too much. So just have that these air four things to consider before you go shopping, we have now covered everything that you would need to know to get started to get to that starting point, beginning with the end in mind every reviewed product. So I'm gonna stop talking, which, but it's been awesome that you have been talking because you've really enlightened us, but getting back to what I want to share with you, which is just some feedback from our online audience. The nasa fail says, I lost all my scrapbooks and thousands of dollars of materials in a house fire a year and a half ago, I was terrified to start rebuilding the stash, but becky and project life has taken the intimidation out of starting over. Annalisa says, my mother and siblings are in another country, and project life is my way of sharing my life with them here they get to see my kids growing up now, wow, yeah, adversary that

I have been involved with scrapbooking for many years and have made numerous purchases for supplies, a room full and then became so overwhelmed by all of it that I have done very little. The reason being, that I was so conscious of what everyone else was doing and mine never quite measured up to what I saw that others were doing with all the embellishments, and techniques. I then turned to card making because it was a much quicker gratification than studying and laboring over the perfect layout with the perfect paper and etc. I had gotten an earlier Project Life kit of Becky's a few years ago and because of a very busy life had never fully gotten the concept, but thanks to Creative Live and Becky I am on the right track now. I am so very motivated and have recently taken all of my photos out of old albums, boxes, etc. and have them at least in order by years so that now I can begin to document this life of mine. By the way, I just turned 70 and boy does that mean a lot of photos. I am equally excited to get an album started for each of my grandchildren that they can document their own lives. My three youngest are 9,11 and 13 and are so heavily involved in sports, community, church and life itself that they need to document this now, for sure they will forget when they are 70 and trying to play catch-up. I have been a fan and follower of all things Becky Higgins since the beginning of Creating Keepsakes and have always felt she was so very authentic in her aspect of documenting, living life and celebrating everyday living. She is awesome and thank you Creative Live for having her on and allowing so many of us to share in this 3 day event. I know I am catching this in the summer 2014 when In fact this was done in 2013, but better late than not at all. A very special thanks to Becky!!!

I am very excited to document my families life. I have 5 kids and a wonderful husband and life goes so fast. I feel like I do everything on the express train! However, this course was not for someone with the ADD brain. This 3 day course could have easily been consolidated down to one day.... maybe two. I think Becky is adorable, however, think she said the same thing over and over again just a different way. I am excited to start project life and review the videos as I need to.

I need help with organization and this class really helped. I also love the simplicity of Project Life. One of my favorite things was how pictures are taken of kids projects to preserve them rather than keeping the originals. Photos of hands has also become a new interest thanks to one of the guest presenters. This class was worth every penny!
