Pixels
a critical piece of ensuring that all of your data will be tracked appropriately is to make sure that you're installing the social media pixel for the platform that you're using facebook, twitter linkedin and other various social media platforms have their own pixel that you can install on the website. You also want to be using google analytics goals and event tracking as well on your website to ensure that the goals that you've set out for the campaign are actually being tagged and tracked accordingly. And so the facebook pixel tends to be one that most people use. So I'll show you where you can find that data in the dashboards. If you were to go into business manager or ads manager under measure and report, you'll find a subsection called events Manager and then a section called pixels. And the pixel is purely a piece of code that you or your developer. If you have one would put on the back end of your website, that's tracking behavior. It's tracking activity. It's tracking the way t...
hat users are interacting with the content on your site. And here we're looking at a pixel that's been installed on a website. It's not only just tracking page views which is important but it's actually also tracking e commerce activity. So some of the standard e commerce things that you'd want to be tracking with the pixel are things like the number of times the product is added to the cart. The number of times that a user may have tried to initiate a check out the number of purchases made on the website. Maybe you also want to track every time payment info is added to an account or any time somebody search for something. So these are very standardized things that an e commerce website would want to track because it indicates either an actual conversion which would be a purchase or interest in converting. And then what you can do with the pixel is create a custom audience that you can use to then run ads or push content to folks that have visited specific sections of your website or be able to leverage that content to get them to move further down the funnel or to convert with you in some way. That's a completely different course, which we also offer and learn from fiber about facebook ads but that's just kind of how all of this works together. And so it's important that you're tracking this because as you're monitoring the campaign, the only way you're really going to know whether or not your ads are performing well for you or your organic content is performing well for you is if you know how you're impacting conversions and events on your website. And so the pixel will give you that information as well. Another helpful tool that I really like is something called the facebook pixel helper. And so that's this little widget that I've installed in my chrome browser. It's a free extension that you can download from chrome and essentially you can type in any website to see if your pixel is firing properly. And you can not only do it for your own website that you're managing, where you've installed your own pixel but you can literally type in any website on the web to see what they're tracking as well. So it's a little it's a little way that you can also spy on your competitors. So here I've put in Fiverr dot com, one of my favorite websites and you'll see that we have looks like they're tracking about four different things with their pixel. So it's saying that there's one pixel that was found on Fiverr. It's tracking content views it's also tracking other kind of micro data which is something that they've customized on their own some kind of custom data that they're tracking. Its tracking page views. And it's also tracking something that they've deemed unlabeled enrichment. So these are their own quote unquote event parameters or the own their own behaviors that they're tracking on the website. But this is verifying that one the pixel has been installed and secondly that it's working and that it's firing for these things. So if you ever have a question about whether or not your client's website has a pixel whether or not it's actually performing by installing the facebook pixel helper into chrome. You'll have some visibility into the back end without actually having to look at the code
