Introduction
Hello and welcome to creative live I'm kinda klosterman your host for the canon rebel t s sixty s I fast start with john gringo now john gringo is a landscape nature and travel photographer and a photo tour leader his fundamentals of photography class is one of the most popular here on creative lives this class is all about making your camera work for you you're going to learn all about the buttons the features the menus so that you can start taking in the images that you want most of us don't like to read camera manuals and in this class you don't have tio so john gringo take it away all right thank you very much well welcome everybody to the fast start for the t six es and the six I because we have two cameras that are very similar will be going through the differences on them but if you own one of these if you're gonna be using one of these if you really want to know your camera and it's important to you that you have it set up properly that's what we're going to be doing in this cl...
ass it's going to be a rather long class because I am going to go through all the buttons and all the men you settings but by the time you're done with this you'll know about all the features howto work them as well as having your camera fully set up just in the menu system itself there are dozens and dozens of things that should be done this way or that way and what I should mention and can if you could get out the pdf to show people what the pdf that you get with this class house and so this is just kind of a note outline and if you could open it to page I think six and seven where the menu is on there what one of the things that I've done in this class is I've broken down the entire menu and put down recommendations now we'll be going through this later on in the class but this is something that you can take home and you can adjust and fit to your own needs because on the page right after that I've taken off my recommendations so that you can write your own in so if you want to take that or maybe it's on the previous page but it's in it's in the notes and so if you want to write down your 00:01:59.452 --> 00:02:02. own settings oh our notes for when you go out in the 00:02:02.52 --> 00:02:04. field that's a very handy little device tohave a cz 00:02:04.82 --> 00:02:07. well assume recommended settings on how to set the 00:02:07.14 --> 00:02:09. camera for different types of scenarios like portrait 00:02:09.61 --> 00:02:11. photography or landscape photography 00:02:12.47 --> 00:02:14. so let's get started in this class we got a lot to 00:02:14.28 --> 00:02:17. go through here is kind of the plan that we have for 00:02:17.37 --> 00:02:19. the day here is I want to go through a little bit 00:02:19.69 --> 00:02:21. of overview about this product we have some people 00:02:21.91 --> 00:02:24. who might be purchasing a canon slr for the first 00:02:24.57 --> 00:02:26. time so we're going to talk a little bit about kanan 00:02:26.72 --> 00:02:29. ass l lars their lenses were going to go through just 00:02:29.45 --> 00:02:32. a few basics I know a lot of you have plenty of experience 00:02:32.61 --> 00:02:35. shooting photos and you can zip past that if you're 00:02:35.34 --> 00:02:36. if you're interested but we're going to go through 00:02:36.8 --> 00:02:39. a few of the basics for shutter speeds and depth of 00:02:39.37 --> 00:02:41. field just five minutes or so and then we're going 00:02:41.47 --> 00:02:43. to go through all the buttons on the camera and go 00:02:43.45 --> 00:02:46. into the entire menu section line item by line item 00:02:47.17 --> 00:02:50. now to start with if you did notice somewhere in that 00:02:50.4 --> 00:02:53. box was this giant instruction manual which is going 00:02:53.47 --> 00:02:55. to take you about fourteen hours to get through and 00:02:55.75 --> 00:02:59. it is not written in the best of terms on howto actually 00:02:59.92 --> 00:03:03. use the camera it's oftentimes reasonably well written 00:03:03.11 --> 00:03:06. for describing what a feature does but not exactly 00:03:06.53 --> 00:03:10. the best implementation and so this class is a replacement 00:03:10.39 --> 00:03:12. in some ways for the instruction manual but there 00:03:12.78 --> 00:03:16. are still some issues and some aspects that that instruction 00:03:16.68 --> 00:03:19. manual will still have some value so please don't 00:03:19.28 --> 00:03:23. throw it away quite yet one of the things is is that 00:03:23.2 --> 00:03:25. this class is a bit shorter than it would take to 00:03:25.08 --> 00:03:27. go through the instruction manual and I'm going to 00:03:27.05 --> 00:03:29. be concentrating on the features that are most important 00:03:30.2 --> 00:03:32. to picture taking and getting the highest quality 00:03:32.53 --> 00:03:35. photos. And, yes, there are plenty of other things 00:03:35.28 --> 00:03:37. that this camera does, that we will get into a ce. 00:03:37.35 --> 00:03:38. We go along the way. 00:03:39.8 --> 00:03:43. No, that I need to make is that this is not a photography 00:03:43.12 --> 00:03:45. class. This is a class on how to use this one particular 00:03:45.97 --> 00:03:49. camera. And so, if you are interested in proving your 00:03:49.01 --> 00:03:51. photography, one of the things that you want to do 00:03:51.38 --> 00:03:54. is to have a good photography class that teaches you 00:03:54.39 --> 00:03:56. the fundamentals of photography. And now there are 00:03:56.66 --> 00:03:58. other classes. Um, will mention them along the way, 00:03:58.99 --> 00:04:01. but this class is going to be fully dead, get it to how this camera works. And so if you own this camera, this is the perfect place to be.

Feeling pretty good about my T6s purchase! John's teaching style was fabulous, and I am left feeling pretty confident and a lot less overwhelmed!

Great Class! John Greengo is an amazing teacher. I have a t6i for like 6 months and this class helped me a lot. Totally worth the money!

As a student of John's for the past 2 years with the Fundamentals of Photography, the Nikon D3300 and D5500, I recently traded my Nikon D3300 for the Canon EOS Rebel T6i. As always, the training was superb, easy to understand, and I feel better in being able to use a digital camera. The reason for the switch in manufacturers was because of the ease of use of the Canon. I look forward to referring back to the lessons if I need a refresher course. Thank you, John. Your teaching is starting to click, finally.
