Moving forward in the camera here is the feature that we were just talking about the auto power off. Normally, I would leave this at about one minute before the camera falls into a deep slumber of sleep. But if you're going to put it in the wifi and you need it for longer periods of time, you could leave it on a longer time. But it is going to use more battery power. The brightness of the lcd in general should be left in the middle of the scale. But you, khun, brighten it up. For instance, if you're trying to show people photo's on the back here camera under very bright sunlight, you might need to raise it up to a five, six or seven level on its lcd brightness. Next up is the lcd auto off. And so right now on the tee six s, when you get close to the camera, it automatically turns off the lcd on the back of the camera. We did this a little earlier. Let me just show you again on a live demo. So we have the back of the camera as we get up closer to the display. It turns off turns off, tur...

ns off when we get closer. So this is an advantage on the t six s because it has this little sensor right up here in the top. The t six. I does not have this advantage, and so it has slightly different controls. Back on the keynote, you'll see that the t six I has the option of turning off that display by pressing the shutter button by hitting the shutter button or the display button. Or it just stays on all the time. And so I think the best option there is the shutter or the display, but because the six I has it has an additional eye button display button on the top of the camera for turning off that display. See you with the eye camera. You have to manually turn that screen on and off. Next item, date, time and zone. And so this is where you can put in your local time zone and your local time that will be attributed to the metadata in your photographs. Don't just skip by this it's, very nice 00:01:59.144 --> 00:02:02. to have the correct date and time in your photographs, 00:02:02.18 --> 00:02:04. because he's, you go backto, organize your photographs 00:02:04.75 --> 00:02:06. and look at different events. It's going to be nice 00:02:06.82 --> 00:02:09. to have that set accurately, and a quick note. Your 00:02:09.68 --> 00:02:12. camera does not know about daylight savings time as 00:02:12.63 --> 00:02:15. faras. When your to change there is a quick setting 00:02:15.36 --> 00:02:18. that you can say I'm on daylight savings time, and 00:02:18.19 --> 00:02:19. you don't have to worry about making the change. But 00:02:19.91 --> 00:02:22. you do have to go in there and tell it, let's, start, 00:02:22.96 --> 00:02:24. start now, don't do it now. 00:02:26.19 --> 00:02:29. The language of the menu will be right here, obvious 00:02:29.31 --> 00:02:30. choice there. 00:02:33.82 --> 00:02:36. The viewfinder display. So this is where you can turn 00:02:36.59 --> 00:02:40. on different displays in the viewfinder. And I always 00:02:40.29 --> 00:02:43. like these options. But I always like to have a clutter 00:02:43.53 --> 00:02:45. free environment. So my general feeling is to turn 00:02:45.6 --> 00:02:48. them off unless you specifically needham. The choices 00:02:48.05 --> 00:02:50. we have are the elektronik level, which tells you 00:02:50.24 --> 00:02:52. if you're tipping the camera, left to right, a grid 00:02:52.72 --> 00:02:55. display just simply for compositional reasons. And 00:02:55.83 --> 00:02:58. then a flicker detection, which will let you know 00:02:58.01 --> 00:03:00. if there is a flicker problem. And so, if you are 00:03:00.82 --> 00:03:05. shooting, say, high school or sports in a stadium, 00:03:05.52 --> 00:03:08. I would leave the flicker display on because it'll 00:03:08.35 --> 00:03:10. let you know if there is a flicker problem. And then 00:03:10.74 --> 00:03:12. you can go into the flicker option that we talked 00:03:12.68 --> 00:03:15. about earlier in the shooting menu. And you could 00:03:15.35 --> 00:03:18. turn that on and off as need be. When that case arising, 00:03:18.81 --> 00:03:21. that would simply show up when you have that flicker 00:03:21.19 --> 00:03:21. problem. 00:03:25.12 --> 00:03:28. You can also hook this camera up to a variety of gps 00:03:28.3 --> 00:03:30. devices, in which case the camera needs to communicate 00:03:30.82 --> 00:03:33. with those gps devices. And we're not gonna get into 00:03:33.5 --> 00:03:35. it. But this is where you would make those settings.

Feeling pretty good about my T6s purchase! John's teaching style was fabulous, and I am left feeling pretty confident and a lot less overwhelmed!

As a student of John's for the past 2 years with the Fundamentals of Photography, the Nikon D3300 and D5500, I recently traded my Nikon D3300 for the Canon EOS Rebel T6i. As always, the training was superb, easy to understand, and I feel better in being able to use a digital camera. The reason for the switch in manufacturers was because of the ease of use of the Canon. I look forward to referring back to the lessons if I need a refresher course. Thank you, John. Your teaching is starting to click, finally.
