How to Create an Email Newsletter for Your Audience

Hi and welcome to this lecture where I'm going to show you how you can create an email newsletter for your audience. So the website I'm on right now is called mailchimp. So this is email marketing software. This allows you to create templates. It allows you to send emails to more than one person at a time and also allows you to build email list where you can send them emails about your music or your new releases. There are other software available such as active campaign or Aweber, but I like mailchimp. I know mailchimp does have an offer as well. I believe it's free for up to 1500 subscribers. It does have some limited functionality such as automation, which is where you can automatically send emails depending on different times when people subscribe to your list and when you do get more than 1500 people, you will have to upgrade to the paid version. But if you're new, I do recommend checking out the free version of mailchimp. So I'm just going to give you a quick overview now of how ...

you can actually create emails and send them to people to promote your music. So let's have a look. First of all up here, we have campaigns. So this is for sending email campaigns, templates where we can create our email templates lists where we have the list of the people on our separate email lists and reports. Let's have a look at templates. And here I've got a number of different templates I've created in the past, but let's just go over and hit create template. And here we have different templates. We could choose, we can use sell products, make an announcement, tell a story, follow up, educate, then we have different layouts here as well. I think we should have make an announcement. So if you are releasing some new music in the world, you could have a sell product or you could have it as make an announcement. Let's have make an announcement and here we can add logos. So if you click on this, you could always go in and replace this image for your own image. So that's just a placeholder. I probably wouldn't use that image. And here we can put the title. I have something new to show you. My album is now out, something like this. You could have some artwork here, you can go through and add images for each one. You can also create a link. So this could go to your Spotify page, this could go to your Apple Music page, this could go to your CD baby. Page where you've got your music or wherever you want them to listen to it, or maybe even buy your music. You could add in the web address here, then going down, you can add some more information, tell a story about your music, talk to your audience members, and then you can add social media links as well. So you can have things like your Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram and your website. And that's how you can quickly create a template. And it looks quite professional. I'm sure you've probably seen a lot of these emails before without even knowing it. Mailchimp is very popular for creating emails and it's really easy. This took me a long time to figure out. I didn't actually know how people created these emails when I started out, but it's through websites such as mailchimp active campaign and a Webber. I do recommend as well. Once you do have people in your audience, you do have people who are fans who are on your email list to send them maybe weekly or monthly newsletters just to tell them about your music. Tell them about some of the stuff you've got going on just to build a rapport with your audience and they'll be more likely to listen to your music. So that's Mel Chimp. I do recommend just signing up for the free version and having a play around and just get used to creating newsletters. This isn't a lecture about email marketing this isn't a lecture about building lists. I just want to quickly show you how easy it is to build newsletters that you can send to your fans and you can send to your audience to promote your music when it's out. Just so people know your music's there. So it's another way of getting your music out in the world through emails. So thank you for watching this lecture all about creating an email newsletter for your audience.
