Types of Drone Shots
in this video, we want to cover the five basic types of shots that you can get with a drone. The first is the aerial pan where you are moving along something that is static, not moving. The second, which is similar is the tracking shot where you are moving with the movement of something. It could be cars, it could be waves, it could be anything that's moving and it doesn't have to necessarily be left to right. You could be flying directly over it, shooting down at it and moving forwards or backwards with it or you could be flying not shooting down but shooting out towards it, but still moving with it forwards or backwards or left or right. But the key is that you're tracking an actual subject that is moving. The third is the pedestal and you've probably seen these before with drones, It's that movement up or down. So either you are going from close to the ground and you're shooting up into the sky or you're from the sky moving down. But this can be a great way to really reveal what's i...
n your scene, which brings me to my next type of shot, which is the reveal. This is where while you're flying something else is revealed in the shot. So you might have a foreground element that you're going around, you might be backing up through some sort of tunnel or something like that. But something is revealed in the middle of the shot by entering the frame through some sort of drone movement. And then the last type of shot is the flyover similar to the aerial pan. You're not necessarily tracking something, but you're just flying over a scene. So these are five types of drone shots that you can get on your next shoot and make sure that your pre planning these shots out before you get up in the sky so that you preserve that precious battery life.
