Despite growing competitive threats, Brooklyn had experienced strong growth over a six year time frame and was the only coffee shop in the neighborhood with tables and space for people to sit and work while drinking their coffee. arted losing some of their sales before making a strategic shift to focus all their attention on delivering against the needs of the local living. Freelancers who visit the shop weekly for work to understand this, they use the facebook audience insights tools. The tools showed them people in that area were new to the area where the strong interest in arts and entertainment, food and restaurants, community and social services and we're likely to be entrepreneurs are self employed. As a result, Brooklyn expanded their strategic focus beyond just food and coffee and significantly increased the number of events featuring local artists, local musicians, food and entertainment. The ideas were sourced from people from the neighborhood they hired from the neighborhood and hosted meetups for the neighborhood to deliver on the needs and interests that they identified using facebook's audience insights.
