We must learn what they are searching for and offer the best answer for those questions most relevant to our business. Now we did much of the research on what they're looking for when we created our persona. And we use this information to get our web page listings as close to the top of the search engine results page as possible for the most relevant searches. Now, whether you're going to be doing this work yourself or hiring an expert to do it, it's important to understand the fundamentals of how search engines work. So you can effectively evaluate the best approach for using search as a part of your marketing plan. So let's take a look at the search engine results page. Below the fold is an old school term from way back when we had newspapers at newsstands and you could read the headline, but you had to unfold the newspaper to read below the fold for those that weren't the most important headlines. That's still important when it comes to digital marketing. When it comes to search below the fold simply means or when it comes to digital marketing. Below the fold simply means when as soon as you have to scroll down, that is considered below the fold. It's important that we get our results at the top before a person has to scroll because realistically most people are not scrolling down on search. Let's talk about things we can do to get our listings as high up on the top of that search as possible. So now that we know search is about answering the question, we need to learn how to identify what questions your customers are searching for and how to use that information to get more people to your website. This is a crucial step that you and or your expert partner will need to take in order to get the most optimal results.
