Think with Google Walk Thru
think with google tool helps to get general insights on industries and consumer behavior Brooklyn coffee house. Used the tool to help them identify general trends and beverage and food shopping behaviors to identify times for promotions and general consumer behavior to find the tool, let's go to google and simply type in the search bar. Think with google when we hit enter, we can actually go to where it says here on the first organic search as culture and trends. We click culture and trends and you can see a number of different opportunities to learn more about your customers and the business. We go all the way to the end and click on the bottom where it says consumer insights, we click on consumer insights and we're going to go through a number of these tools. The shopping insights tool will start with first where we can get search data to see which products and brands are popular in this particular search category. So I click to open the tool. The first thing that it asked me for is ...
what category am I interested in since we're talking about Brooklyn coffeehouse, I'll type in coffee and you can see the first thing that comes up is the category, click that category and it takes me to the next screen. So this chart will show you the search popularity for this particular term over time. You can select a different timeframe here on the left side, it's like the custom time, pick month or you can just pick year. The other thing you can change which I think is really good is the season. If you want to change, you can just leave it as a shopping season or you can just look at specific times in the year. Certain businesses will have certain times of the year where their business is really relevant like valentine's Day or Mother's Day. For some, some businesses might want to focus on black friday labor day or figure out how the search is working during those time frames. This google tool will allow you to look at that search results for that certain period of time underneath that you can look at the specific brands to see which brands are most popular of the brands being searched. You can even look in geography and see which geography has the most search or which geography has the most interest in a particular search term. You can see here the searches by particular device. A second tool that we might be interested in is a consumer barometer. The consumer barometer tool allows you to get general insights on a variety of topics from internet usage, sources of product or brand awareness, shopping behavior and others. Just take a quick moment to review some of those options. First thing we do is we'll dive into this graph builder, click on the graph builder and as you can see automatically on the left side there are a number of different questions that we can look to see what the answers are for our particular country or for the filters that we place on it. You can pick filters right here and select specific country filters. You can select demographic filters such as age, gender income level or even parental status. You can select internet usage. So are they internet user or not? Internet user? You can pick the device, smartphone users, computer users, tablet users or even people who use a particular number of devices. These types of factors become important as you recognize a certain portion of the traffic to your site might come from people on their smartphone or might just come from the desktop to start looking through how the questions on the left hand side apply to our specific audience. And I may just change a filter here. We have us as a democrat us is the country. I'll just change the age just to show how it works. And we changed from 25 to 34. And now all of the data that I see in here is for people in the US that are aged 25-34. And you can answer a number of specific questions such as do people use the internet for personal purposes? Or you can even look specifically at shopper data and to find out first awareness of of of a product? How do they hear about a product that they became aware of previous experiences? Pre purchase research. You can see what kind of research behavior do they take in do they look at what's their motivation for purchase? Whatever the time spent on purchase. You can see the extent of online and offline research that they do. As you can see there are a host of questions that I highly recommend. You take the time to go through to see which ones might be most actionable or informative for your business. You can also see on the top there are a couple other tabs next to the graph builder. There's trended data which you can also look in this top left hand corner and you can choose to filter by specific region and you can also choose to have gender or age demographics applied to it as a filter. And you can see those specific questions. You can answer the specific questions as it applies to this demographic based on the filters that you put audience stories would show general facts on consumer insights such as brand advocates, digital moms, the millennial generation or even people who are looking at how to videos. And then finally you can look at think with google trends or search think with google and you can actually search for particular terms. So in this case let's just serve coffee or you can look right here at beverage trends. google data reveals what's satisfying consumers thirst. So as it applies to coffee, you can get general trends as it relates to the beverage industry. You can also get the same type of reports on other industries and other consumer bases.
