Blur Layer, Background Blur & Image Blur in Figma

Hi, everyone. We're gonna look at a couple more uh effects in fig A. We're gonna look at blur image. We're gonna use it just to kind of fake a bit of depth of field. We'll also look at blur background. OK? We're gonna make this little thing that hovers above and kind of can you see through it? It blurs the background to kind of help our model kind of pop out and be a bit more distinct from the background. Alright. Let's jump in and learn how to do those. All right. We'll start with blur layer, it's kind of useful. OK? So clicked on this one, I'm gonna say fix and I'm gonna use the blur layer. Here you go. It blurs layers. I'll show you a couple of uh uh use cases. So let's go. Um What I'm gonna do, let's switch to our desktop view and you saw it at the beginning, then we're gonna grab uh these 123, I'm gonna duplicate them and I'm just gonna, yeah, I'm gonna just kind of rearrange them, you them. OK? So just resize them and remember if you use your selection tool to resize them let's s...

ay I make it bigger that this doesn't get bigger. So if you use your K OK, or switch it over here to scale and make it bigger, everything comes along for the ride. OK. So I've done that and just reorder them. This is kind of like a marketing page, maybe the homepage alternative anyway. And so you can select this whole unit or this whole frame and then go fix. I'm going to add a layer blue so that one's going to be like slightly out of focus and this one's going to be even more out of focus. You get the idea. Let's go a bit further. Funny. Here we go. Uh air drop shadows. If you're gonna air drop shadows, you've got to uh do them in addition to layer blue. OK? So I need to add a drop shadow and a drop shadow and drop shadow. OK? I can select them all. Can I do them all? No? OK. Uh These two because they have multiple things selected on them. I can't adjust them all together. You can if there's a bunch of them and they only, they all have the same thing which you all have the same drop shadow on them so you can adjust them all of them. But go OK? But because these guys have multiple things applied to it, that doesn't work. OK? But if you do get to it and you're like, actually I want to copy and paste that across lots of different ones. Let's give that a go. Let's get a Josh show. That's not really bad. Still kind of bad. Remember there's that trick where we kind of like no man's land. You know, where do you click? Weird place. Just go copy on your keyboard and go to you. We can paste this one. We've ended up with two of them. That's OK. Paste that one. Which one am I deleting paste. OK? So there we go. They've all got similar drop shadows, all nice and blurry. Cool. So next, let's look at background blur. So there's a couple of things that need to happen. You need a background. So let me put, I'm using the confirmation page. I am putting in an image from the exercise files called map. OK? Just a map of my local area. I just, I just screenshot that from Google Maps. There is a plug in for Google Maps kind of like put it in there and be able to adjust it. But hey, that's what I need for the moment. And now we need something on the top. OK? So um I'm gonna use a rectangle instead of a frame to mix things up. Confuse everyone could be a frame. OK? I'm gonna give it a fill of white. Now, this has to be partly transparent. That's kind of part of the deal, not 100% but partly give me any color. Let's play the effect. Down here. Not a drop shadow. I want background blur and nothing happens. This thing needs to be partially transparent and I can never remember which one it is. OK. So I've got a background blur on. Um I'm pretty sure it's the fill so I do 50%. It's 50% but the background's not blurry. So not that one. It is the fill 50%. There we go. So I can kind of see halfway through this thing 50% through and the background is blurred by that amount. You can crank it up or down, just allows you to do things like these pop up models that just are a little bit clearer and kind of separates itself from the background. OK? They look good in black or white. OK? And this is going to be my animation confirmation page Mambo did earlier. Yeah, that's background blur, let's say though that this model also has a drop shadow. OK? And you've spent long and hard trying to get that perfect. Not 24 just two. Oh, it's looking right? Maybe another one that's a bit more lofty. It's gonna spread up a little bit spread Blair and this can be 00. So it's coming out from all directions and the opacity is gonna be down to like 10%. Anyway, you've got a bunch of stuff going on. OK? So we're gonna look at creating a style from this so I can go you OK? I'm gonna make, it's like everything else. These little dots hit the plus to add one. This is going to be called dans my blur mole, mole mole. There we go. That'll do. So that later on when you're creating something rectangle tool, drawing something over the top of everything else. There we go, put it across this, OK? We can go, hey, it's not going to do everything, but we're gonna go my style background model and as long as I lower the opacity of the fill 50% you can see it works and actually I want it to be white or black. Alright. So those are the effects. There's only four, that's all you need. Actually that's not all you need, we need lens flare fig ma where's my lens flare? Whew OK. Lens flare complete. Let's get on to the next video.
