How To Make A Horizontal Scrolling Swipe In Figma

Hi, everyone in this video. We're going to look at how to do the horizontal swipe scrolling. Goodness in fig A. Uh Let me show you how. So let's start with a simple version over here. I don't even know why we made these, but they're gonna serve their purpose. So we'll just do it with some rectangles to get started with. OK? So we're gonna make one too and go command dddd. So they kind of head off. So we need something that goes off the page horizontally. OK? I'm going to click on my frame and turn off the clip contents just so I can see it. OK? I'm gonna grab them all now for this to work. This, all these things need to be inside of a frame. OK? Or inside of a component or an auto layout. They all, all those things underneath it all are like a frame and that's what we need. So I'm just gonna use a plain old frame, uh command option. G OK? So it's a frame. I'm not gonna give it a name because it, there's nothing OK? And you need to do two things you need to in the other video. Remember ...

we said, hey, this is prototype scrolling vertical. It's the same for horizontal except for doing this kind of outside mobile frame, you do it to this frame, OK? The frame we just made, we say you can actually have your own scrolling. OK? And you say vertical scrolling and you're gonna need this little error and it's not gonna work. OK? Because what it's saying is uh there is the frame needs to be smaller that needs to be clearer, needs to go red. OK? But what they're saying is that if I go back to design this has a frame around it, even though I clipped this, it still won't work. Watch this. If I go back to prototype, it says still a warning. What it's saying is you need to clip the frame like this. OK. Let's turn that one back on to make it more, more sense. So remember these, these guys inside of here, they're inside of a frame. That frame can be smaller. Normally it's bigger. We always do it bigger but we can make it smaller. OK. There we go. We made it smaller. Do you have to clip it? You don't? But it looks nicer. OK. So you just have to have that outside frame smaller than the contents inside it, then it will work. OK. So let's click on this and try and preview it. Here we go and I can scroll. Why is it working? All right. Let's go back and check. So you have prototype of vertical scrolling. Perfect. There's still a warning and it says the scroll under the frame is bigger than the frame. It is. I've done it, frame you. That's how big it is. Does it matter for CPS? Contents? And I've applied that vertical scrolling, horizontal scrolling. I want horizontal man, I get those mixed up all the time. You were saying it, you're like he, he means vertical, he means horizontal. Ah It's one of my, yeah, it happens all the time. If you've done any of my other courses, you'll know spelling is a challenge and horizontal vertical, they need, they need more icons there. Do they have an icon? They don't put an icon in there for people like me who can't tell they're horizontal from the vertical. So that's the kind of basic version, right? As long as the framer on the outside of where it is is smaller and it only has to be a little bit OK, then the contents on the inside. So just kind of tuck it in and again, it doesn't matter if you've got that frame selected and whether it's clipped or not, it's just if you can see it or not, it just wants to see the frame smaller. All right. So uh what am I gonna do? I'm gonna do it to this. We did this earlier. I didn't want to start with this in case you're coming to this video without doing the entire course. OK. And this thing here is something we made earlier on. OK. Was uh auto la when we were learning that OK, cool thing about autos is that you can go like that, which kind of makes it work. And there's two things we need to do. What was it? One was we need to say you, the frame is smaller. OK? And the other one is that we need to make sure Dan doesn't say horizontal, vertical, horizontal. Yeah. Gotta draw the line in the air. OK? And let's click on it and I'm gonna try and preview it kind of previewing it badly on purpose. I think started off with this page like OK, we go back to the home page, right? Well, where it is, it can't see that page. I've got 1 to 4. I've got this random page, but I haven't got any of the other ones. Why don't I have it? First of all, I could just go into this and go to prototype and give it a flow starting point and then I can kind of start from here. Perfect. Scrolling is working and the reason it isn't is because we haven't linked to it at any stage. I'm gonna undo that flow. So I don't want that. What if I got a prototype and I click on this? Can you see there is something if I click on everything? I just did a command a or control A on a PC. Can you see all these lines going everywhere that connects to that? Something connects to that nothing goes there or there. That's why we haven't been able to see these two pages without first clicking on them and then going to present. Ok. So what we can do is we can say when somebody clicks the purchase button and goes there, tap navigate to instantly. Perfect. OK. That'll be part of it. This still won't be. How do we get to this one? We we need a button that says show reviews. We do not have that anywhere. Oh Luckily we've got an asset and we've got a big giant button here. Yeah, there we go. Now I can say click on this one and get to there on tap, go there, open it up. So now even if I start over here, I'll start at this flow can't actually click on that anymore because this thing's over the way of it. Sometimes you need to zoom in, ok? To be able to kind of like get, be able to click on the top of it. Alright, so no more reviews and here's our little scrolling thing. Here we go. That is horizontal scroll. There's only two things to remember. The f the outside frame needs to be smaller than the contents inside and under prototype. You need to switch it to horizontal. I'll remember that for a day or two. Don't you worry but it dribbles out eventually. The other thing that is not in this course, I guess is I would be tempted to make this shorter so that you can see more of it to give the hint of swipe ability. Ok. I hate sites when it's like this. And you're like, oh, you just swipe and you're like, well, how am I meant to know? This one has probably enough of a hint. I'd like to see something like that. The peaking kind of through there. So I'd go through and probably design a review, you know, card that was just a tiny bit skinnier so that there was the ability to see that. All right. That is it. I will see you in the next video.
