The Difference Between Animation & Micro Interactions
Hi, everyone in this video we're gonna discuss quickly the difference between animation and micro interactions. OK. It's a term that is new for some people. If you are new to UX design for others, you're gonna know exactly what I'm talking about. But if you don't, it's just a subtle thing. Um The creation process is the same here in fig A. I'm going to do it in the next videos, but I don't know, it's a term that we need to be clear about a little bit at least. So animation is pretty easy. Animation is what you would imagine it being it's there to kind of like delight users help tell or communicate a little bit more. Sometimes it's just pure branding. OK? So it's just animations and they can happen on websites and you can do it in a fig A and I'll show you how the other one is micro interactions. This is probably a good representation of micro interactions. Just simple stuff that shows that watch one of this is clicked, it sent something, you know, it's kind of user feedback or at least...
system feedback that something's happened. It might be to help convey like something is being processed like this or it might be that something is waiting. You can see that little micro interaction here. OK? You got a little whoa, look at that. They don't have to be animated, but generally they are. OK. Was another good one, that little locking icon one. OK. That is a nice handy one to know whether your system, you know the thing you've done is locked or not locked. OK? Whether it's working or the microphone is working and they, yeah, so often it is maybe to prevent you from doing anything wrong. You know, like remember earlier on we did this, OK. This would be a really bare bones, micro interactions. Things start going red. OK? Or yeah, to know that you've done it wrong or you haven't got enough in there yet or haven't picked enough things for a kind of password. OK? Uh They do get a bit blurry. Sometimes people are like, I've made a micro interaction and you're like, hm, it could just be an animation cos it's not really like this one here. Like it is being tagged as a micro interaction, but maybe it's just an animation I think because it's, it's really cool, like it's become part of the brand. Like this is an ex, you know, this is uh we're back into delighting people with fun stuff. OK. So it kind of crosses the line. Look at this one is this micron direction. It how I think it's good but it's kind of boring on a full on animation. Ok. Let's have a look at some other interesting ones. Pay complete touch thing. Yeah. See these ones here, they're cool and they're fun and they'll definitely be labeled as micro interactions because yeah, it's helping often a micro interaction is a kind of a U white interaction. Like I've done something on the site and the system, your website, your app is telling me, give me a response without having to pop up a window saying uh you know, yes, you have enabled this feature. It's kind of like a little easy one. Alright. So we'll build a couple, they both get built the same. OK? With animation. So yeah, we'll do a couple of different examples. Alright, let's jump in.
