Word Lists And Mindmapping

this is what I consider to be one of the most important lessons. It's all about word lists and mind mapping time for you to rev up your creative engines. Let's get started sketching is really, really important. It's something that my father taught me since I was a little kid as the best way to come to an excellent final product. It's something that he learned from one of his idols Milton Glaser, one of the greatest designers of all time. It's so so, so important that you have a proper plan and the act of actually using your hand, putting that pen or pencil to paper and doing that motion physically actually opens your mind and gets you thinking about the best ways to create your final logo. Really try to resist the urge to open creative cloud the second you get the green light on your logo assignment, if you really have an aversion to drawing or using pen and paper or pencil and paper, you can always use digital drawing tools like procreate, which is a great tablet app. A lot of people ...

use their ipads with the stylists or you can just use a wakame tablet and draw right onto your computer any of that's fine, but it's really just the motion of drawing with your hand. That's super important in this part of the process. The first step is actually to write words and I know that we're working in a visual medium, but using words is actually a great way to start opening your mind and expanding your imagination, free associating any words that come to mind will open your mind and transform your thinking from the literal to a purely creative and open mindset. A word list starts with a few key words that sparked other related words and are presented in a list format. Here's an example of the wordless method for milestones. Rate anything at all that comes to mind. Don't think too hard either and don't necessarily think in terms of what the final logo will be. A mind map is like a word cloud but it's more focused. It starts with the keyword as the hub and then various spokes from that central idea form a network of related thoughts. You can use various keywords and spokes to form a larger network start with words. But if an idea comes naturally it's okay to sketch it out and if your mind goes right to an object it's okay to draw that object as well, Continue this exercise and spend about 5-10 minutes on it. For the second exercise I'd like you guys to try your own word list or mind map either methods fine and they're both going to achieve the same results. So the choice is yours. You can either use an example from the brief that I showed you guys in the creative brief section or you can use a real world example of your own either one is fine
