Boosting Posts
So we just talked about using facebook ads to be able to amplify your brand, not because you're advertising, but because you're paying for social postage, you're paying to deliver your message exactly to the people you want based on inception. And so we call that boosting, we call it inception because people don't realize it's advertising. People don't realize you're paying to get your message in front of them. This is something that people often get a hang up on. So let me explain one thing when you go to your favorite movie theater and you see the Avengers or you listen to your favorite song or you go to a concert, you don't come out of that saying, oh, that was two hours of amazing content, wasn't it? No, you think of that as that was a great play. That was a really motivating, you know, whatever you're guilty, netflix pleasure is you think about how awesome your favorite show is and so that's what we're doing. We are paying to distribute content. You know, we almost don't even want...
to use the word content because it implies that it's for marketing nefarious one way sorts of purposes. We're using the advertising systems that google, facebook twitter linkedin wherever your audience is. It's probably going to be, google and facebook is one and two. It's like coke or pepsi wherever they are to be able to make sure your messages are being seen. So just because we are paying and boosting for a dollar a day. Micro audiences with micro targeting to get the message out doesn't mean that we are trying to sell products directly because nobody wants to be sold to the key is that they want to be enamored with your why they want to be taken in because of the expertise that you're selling. They want to be entertained. We just happen to be paying a dollar a day to get the message out there. Some people will say, yeah, but that doesn't work. A lot of these other folks that you are boosting doesn't work well, that's because they don't know what they're doing. That's because they don't have this personal branding framework that we're talking about. They don't have the cool video that gets people's attention that doesn't look like an ad, they're not boosting to the right audiences that were also showing you how to set up and that will help you overcome these sorts of objections that you'll hear from other people. I'd say just try it and tell me if it works before you judge it, try it. And then when you hear other people come up to you and say boosting doesn't work, right? I tried that you can just smile at them and say, Oh well and then you know that that's less competition for us because the more people that don't understand how to do this, the more we're able to keep the prices down, right? I mean the price on Facebook ads has been going up and up. It's been doubling almost every year for the last 12 years that I've been using it. I remember when I first started in 2007 the cost was 25 cents per 1000 impressions and now the average is up at 89 $10 per 1000 impressions. And I imagine it'll go up to 15 or $20. I might have to spend more time on linkedin and youtube and twitter. So I would still start with facebook. But understand that boosting posts on facebook is your initial starting ground for how you're doing your testing.
