Creative Vital Value Project
Lads, move on to a really fun, creative, fun exercise with markers and things. Uh, we want to create a vital values keepsake, right? So here's mine that I made at home here, my vital values, relationships, wellness, creativity, authenticity and passion. So this is something that I scanned and is now the background of my dust top computer. But it could also be part of my phone. It could also be something that I hang in my cubicle. It could also be again the cover of this workbook. We want to make something pretty that we want to see. That just reminds us, reminds us of our values. And I have to tell you, before I started getting really intentional with values, sometimes we think, oh, I know what my values are behind what they are. I don't need a reminder, and then, you know, a few days go by. What were they? Oh, what were they what's important to me again? I don't know. So keeping these in the forefront of our minds is just gonna really be able to allow us to. I make the decisions that ...
are going to fit with what we want and who we are and what we want to stay true to, so I would love cates like at the ready with the markers, uh okay, so kate has some markers just here at home get your markers get your crayons get your colored pens like whatever you have lying around if you're a super great visual artists then obviously you could you know, go to town go on illustrator or whatever else otherwise you know I'm I'm not a great visual artist but I did this pretty good there's polka dots which I love polka dots and everything's written out allegedly and I like my handwriting so like it could be that simple so I love to see like what you guys are doing as you get teo doing it with the markers and sharing it in the chat room and online this is such like I made sure to put the jim career life hashtag seeing these pop up on instagram or on twitter or on facebook or on pence arrest uh is going to be just really exciting andi I think there's probably gonna be some commonality about around a lot of us but I love to see what you guys air creating yeah anything else coming in online that we could talk about what people are more vital people okay great truthfulness is another one eye's maskell open pick that one I'm ready for my next level says healy and growth if we're together expanding, stepping out on faith constantly and realizing and actualizing my potential trusting one I love those see how different and so different but some of them are so similar it's just the words and phrases that people use. No, I actually let's go back to question while while austin it's working thiss actually came up in an early excitement, but I think it is something that people would really like to be addressed to four people voted on it is saying, I wonder how michelle would address the reality of severe economic and social economics cultural issues around trying to do with what you love you you know, if you're in either a depression or your have economic pressure on you, except how do you then, sir, break free and say, no, I really want to do god, I feel like that's a whole nother workshop for another day, and I could answer this a few ways. Um, I don't want to make light of the recession. I know that it's horrible for so many people, and I know that it's real, but about three years ago, I started a siri's on my block called the recession is bull honky, and megan actually just referenced it. She wrote a post for me recently, and so I keep hearing every day about people getting jobs, starting businesses and making things work, and so I think again, sometimes that those air excuses in away, right, we tell ourselves and alexander, we heard like just a little bit said, you know, we tell ourselves I should be lucky to have this job and I'd be an idiot leave it and I'll never be able to make money because there's a recession and there's so many people out of work, but the reality is too that there's jobs out there there are people starting businesses there, people making plenty of money doing the things that they love to do and so that's a reality too, and one that I think we don't look at enough, you know, I've written about, uh well, in terms of depression, uh, that's something I kind of really wary to touch on because I'm not a therapist and anyway, but I find that, you know, if you know that there's more, uh, tougher issues and challenges for you, then what we're talking about here then like, I just encourage you to get the help that you need, whether it's therapy, whether it's medication, whether it's making sure that you're doing whatever you need to do to stay physically and mentally healthy that's the priority on dh it might take a while to get there, but I think that gives you even more of a reward should you transition into things you love doing, I could imagine that can only help I know I became a monk happier person when I got out of my executive assistant job than when I was in it because I was I was being authentically me all the time every day so was that the whole question? Okay, great question here from sarah see she's saying, what do you do when you tend to just jump around from one passion to another? You've been an actress, you coach you don't know I mean maybe you experience this? Yes, yes, we're going to talk all about that in health I multi passionate in session three you know, I had twenty jobs in seven years if you google twenty jobs in seven years and when I grow up coach dot com you could see it and that was basically, uh from when I started as an actor like not including my acting jobs and toll I became when I grow up coach, I accounted twenty different jobs that I had in seven years. Um, I think again, the fact that I'm the one I grew up coach is a neat little bow around and a very multi passionate, expansive career. So I know that I could jump around as long as I just, um don't decide tomorrow, then I'm gonna be like a dog trainer and that would be okay and I could split my time and whatever, but I could jump around within being the one I grew up coach, I could speak when I want to speak and not speak when I don't want to speak, I could write when I want it, right, and not when I don't want teo, so it really is about giving yourself the expansiveness, and if you know that you're someone that jumps around, like, build that into your business. It's really great to dio and another thought from that last question that I want to mention is that in terms of the economic piece, you know, I don't encourage people tio quit their their lucrative jobs that are paying their bills and everything tomorrow because you figured out what it is you want to do. So if you were here to hear my story and it took me two years and seven months to do this, I parlay that into a workbook that's available on amazon it's called ineffective escape ten bucks, and it helps you pinpoint what it is you need to do to get yourself out of the job, to feel comfortable and confident and getting yourself out of that job and it's baby steps, it's, baby steps but it's pinpointing what's phase one we talked a little bit about phase one what do I need what's a minimum of what I need in order to feel comfortable and confident. Making that jump and it gives you a guide so I would just say to that if you know you need this job for money's sake when there's nothing wrong with it just make sure you keep doing your work and make sure you give yourself a plan to actually get out of that job amen and hallelujah denver that's great that's one thing that I really liked you know, doing a little bit of research on you is that even though you talk about being a creative um coach that you also are very practical on and I really like those baby steps because I think that it's so easy to I think that you're not doing anything if you're not throwing yourself right right and that's kind of creating an unnecessary crisis right? Totally totally I wish the language could change right? So when people say they quit my job say I made the leap I jumped I did and what I like to say is you could actually like short when push comes to shove you have to go in and give your notice and that's really scary but that could feel more like a hop were more like you know another baby step I like to say we don't have to be on a tightrope thirty feet off the ground we could actually have the tight rope on the floor and we could be walking on the floor on the tightrope until we get to the point that we realized the thai troops behind us and we're walking on her own that's that's how I like to do things and that's how I think I've been able to I built this business and make it work was that it was those baby steps? If you're the kind of person not like you, you don't need anything and you could just quit that job and it won't be, you know, horrible consequences for you and like, you could make it work then amen. And holly, I do not say that this is everyone but I think it's the reality of people who are grown ups and have mortgages and have kids to feed and all the other stuff like that's what hangs us up so we need to well, look at that. Oh, could I see what you guys have done? Do you mind? Uh could we get some like cameras on? Uh, they got in there who wants to go first? Hey, creativity, relationships, freedom, authenticity helpful resource. I love it. It's so pretty all the doodles in the flowers. Fantastic. Ginny, what it's like to draw? I'm gonna croce mind could you please croce it and then we'll put the hashtag and then well, I really love it don't tell us your vital values so um minored challenge and I put that big in the middle cause I think the other one's kind of relate to it but creativity accompli schmidt collaboration and helping love and and you bring up such a good point right so if you're not an artist uh crow shake your butt on a pillow painted you could write it and cool tags or whatever you want to do that's true you can make jewelry out of it making a necklace right right speaking of stacy we see what you've done yeah yea a time freedom creativity growth purpose independence I love in each word kind of has its own typography yeah fantastic jenna somebody's really tiny um so I have learning travel photography kind of borderline creativity thing uh community and variety well could we see what it looks like that's that's like perfect to stick in your wallet right like perfect to just leave it in your wallet as a surprise every time you go toe by something and it could it could it could drive your purchases like oh it was it was spending way and it's right knows we could be like a money thing too cool the goal yeah mine's missed the first draft okay so her perfect always so physical fitness, passion, travel freedom and learning I love it every word has like the screen a little pictures and totally were left without some of the resource is here that we would have but at home or in front of a computer or whatever so like oh my god she anyone that wants to go home and clean it off radio something different that it's totally great, joanne I have authenticity, creativity, hoping meaning and travel oh, and that's just a little doodle does that, like represent anything? It looks it was sort of paths. Yeah, it's kind of a beginning of his entangle piece of our had a client that it sends a tangle it so it's really a cool to reform and amazing. I could tell that that was like, not just a random doodle, but I love that. So that represents heard from path fantastic. Andrea well, this is certainly not annoy artistic expression. I work on it later. Okay, so I have passion meaning in the middle of authenticity and then I have wellness and personal growth. Fabio and I could have, like, three more tryingto teo good. I mean, you could if those three more or something that you really want to consider, you just make them smaller something if you want to, but yeah, we don't want to be like let's go through twenty things before we make a decision or do something jen last but not least let's see oh, I love this creativity joy connection health authenticity and is that like a bridge or uh so I'm not sure I just sort of was well you're talking about is kind of getting chilly fabulous I love it so you guys use this as a keepsake put it where you know you're going to see it in your wallet as thing on your phone's screen saver for your desktop and you could use it as a compass for your personal life and for your professional life and know too that for me these values are what drives me personally and professionally but have a different set of values for my business so if you wanted to do this exercise again becoming at it with your business mind you might see that there are some differences on dh it's interesting to kind of see what overlaps what's still important and what's different in your business so we have some time for more questions that are coming in j k o r n over any of the students have any questions that they'd like to ask you this point anyone feel stuff in anything we've gone over so far the person who was in a chat room before it was talking about kind of the social economical peace and how do you do with that? And I've noticed just overall that when I go to conferences and different things that there are a lot of people you know that diversity is not there's not a lot of guys in the creative eyes that lot of african americans so I see that I'm like are the odds stacked against me or is that something you know in my favor? So I just think of a quote and I'm not necessarily is seattle seahawks ma'am but russell wilson his thing he's like his dad told him like why not you why not me so that's the thing I've been thinking about over the past year like why not me even though you know, some people I think that it's easier for certain people just to say I am going to just quit my job and I'm just gonna go for it and let the chips fall where they may and I don't feel like I have that luxury so but still why not still venture out and try different things like I'm not trapped in them, you know, looks absolutely and that's I love that realization and that ah ha moment for you in that question why not me? I think we could all use some of that today and throughout our work together and in the future, but I have to stay to stacy if you see see this void and you it excites you to maybe explore it more where you're starting a blogger where you're shining the spotlight on my our minority artists, you know men african american like whatever to you don't see out there or maybe you're connecting them in some way and there's a community piece that could be something that it's personally fulfilling for you and I could like naturally go into your business as jewelry design or anything else you want to be promoting I think that that's really the key to create a dream career and a business that we're passionate about is that sometimes we feel like oh, this isn't exactly connected to exactly what I'm doing so I can't do it and instead you could kind you could still shine a light and work on the things that light you up on just have it be a natural way for people to find you it could be like a offhand marketing tool in a lot of ways that's fantastic came in from her natalie um and three people voted on this thing I have a pash but oftentimes I lacked the energy to get going and be productive you have such great energy michelle do you have any suggestions on how to create the energy level needed to get we'll even get things going yeah okay you do not need to be is energetic me and honestly this was something I really struggled with internally when I first started this business and I started writing in in this voice which like to think of janet was you could mention like I'ma work shana on emma home jenna, I'm ah home, michelle and a friend michelle and I'm the one I grew up coach michelle, and it was hard for me to reconcile because I noticed when I was coaching and when I was writing on my bug way more energetic and enthusiastic, then you will find me most of the time and I thought I thought that it was forced and I thought that maybe it was a fraud and I thought maybe it was a role I was playing, and I kind of beat myself up for a while that, like this isn't you like, who is this? And I finally realized because it was coming from a pure place of me that it was who I am, it's, who I am, as when I grow up coach it's my like, foundational excitement level and enthusiasm when I do this work and speak of this work and help people do this work, this is not maintains all the time, I think I would just drop dead forever, but I'm also an extreme extroverts, so I just get my energy on stuff like this. Oh my gosh, I'm going to have enough energy to just go off forever, so I think that a don't comparing your insides to my outsides. It's not great quote, I love that great quote, don't it's not I don't come up with that, I don't know who did. Um, don't compare your insides of someone's outside and just know we're gonna cover time and energy with feel the career, fear and do it anyway and the session to first thing, but just like fine your baseline, if you know you don't have it really don't have the time. We really don't have the energy what's going to give you that little bit of thing to have momentum and again, it's sometimes a catch twenty two where you don't have the momentum, so you start doing the thing, so I have a client and I talk about the story all the time because I think she's fantastic. She also had a day job and she was trying to say, you know, start this business on the side and she was having trouble finding the time to do it, so we kind of pinpointed that for her after she is dinner and does the dishes with her husband was her prime time to go and do her work, and we wanted for her to make it into a habit, so we found that time everyday we spoke about this a little already. She set a timer for forty five minutes, which is that optimum time and she started doing her work whether she felt like it or not it was time to do her work she had dinner, she did the dishes she went to her office, she shut the door, she made sure that she knew what she was working on before she I went in there she wasn't going in are going what I work on and spending forty five minutes trying to figure it out. She knew what she had to work on when the timer went off, she either joined her husband to go watch tv and relax or she said it again and continued to do her work and I got so excited when she said to me, michelle, I found myself in my office thie other day and I don't remember how I got there it became such a habit that she does automatically went there unconsciously was able keep doing her work and I think all of us know anyone that has ever run our exercise like getting us to do it is pulling teeth, but once we're there and where in our run or we're in our class or were on that bike like, oh this is fun, I feel really good why don't I do this for myself? So I think you have to remember the joy you haven't doing your thing and if you give yourself that forty five minutes again, if you're not in it and the magic doesn't happen in the flow, isn't there it's done for the day? It will come back tomorrow and try it again. Just keep undoing the work. That's really good advice. Thank you. I love what you said about, um your outer is not there. Yes, it's true. It could be the quote of the day this truth was a great great analogies it's true well, and especially with all the things being, you know shiny online, right, it's, like everyone has their shiny nous and everyone's you know no one's instagramming like here I am crying in my bathroom. They're instagramming like, do you have a following trying teo here's right now? And no one is talking about or sometimes I don't know. I know there's people online that, like everything's a tragedy and their life is horrible and, you know, but normally it's everything sunshine and roses and kittens and cats. So you have to realize what I'm looking at isn't necessarily the whole truth of what I'm saying about people.

This class was sooo incredibly fun and inspiring. It was wonderful to meet Michelle and interact with her in person. She is warm, kind, approachable and genuinely passionate about helping creatives find a career they can love. Having been raised to believe that the only route to a secure retirement was to find a job with a pension or, at least, a good 401k, this class gave me the courage to believe that I could do work I love and still finance a fabulous life in retirement. It also put things in perspective because it helped me to see that I deserve to be happy as much as anyone else who has carved a successful niche for themselves doing work they feel good about. And, it reminded me that if I try something and discover it isn't the right fit, the worse that can happen is that I go find that job with a pension at that point. So what? Why not me? Amen! xoxo, Jen

My dad used to tell me, "You don't get to do what you love. You just learn to love what you do." For years and years, I've been wandering from job to job wondering why I just wasn't feeling the love, no matter how much I learned to be good at what I do. Although, I tried to resign myself to the idea that work would always be something to dread day in and day out, I couldn't help but day dream about the elusive "perfect" job! I searched for years for tests or counselors who could help give me some direction as to what I would be good at and just before I lost hope, I found this class. I snuck it in during work on my cellphone (shh don't tell lol) and was running back to my desk when I had to be pulled away. It's nice to know someone understands what I've been going through and Michelle's energy is just so positive and motivating that I know that I can make things happen! I watched the free live broadcast but even before the end of day 1 I knew this class was a resource I'll gladly pay for! I would and have recommended this class to many people I know feel the same way I do! Changed my life! We're not made to fit into a mold so why not create your dream career! My review in one word? Amazeballs!

I purchased this course and made sure to finish it before 2015 started. It was so easy to go through the course and I made sure to be diligent in actually doing the activities and homework. I never knew there were other MULTI-PASSIONATE out there like me! I thought I was just a confused human being who needs to figure out her life! Haha! Michelle's energy and passion to help others are so eminent in the way she presents and guides us. I love the setting of Creative Live as well because I felt involved with the studio audience despite having to watch these sessions by myself. :) I learned so much about myself, about how I can incorporate my multiple interests into a unique ball of career perfectly molded for me, by me. All thanks to the help and wisdom of Michelle's experiences and talents. What a great end of 2014 and a great way to start 2015! THIS COURSE IS WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY. :)
