Expand Your Dreams!
The moving on to the next big weston okay, this is a question that makes some people grow and what would you do if you knew you couldn't fail and if that question makes you groan or gets really stuck what would you be ecstatic to get paid tio dio what would you just be so thrilled? D'oh I asked this question I do a tough question tuesdays every week I ask this on social media and I got some naughty answers and so feel free to get like you know there's there's things that you really like I mean to dio like feel free again judgment free censor free zone what would you just take this paycheck and go like oh my god, I can't believe I got paid for this thing it's amazing and you could share your share your answer is not only in the shot but online with a dream career life hashtag oh what do you guys writing down it's exciting joanne um I'm photographer uh and I would love to give or or make money getting my photographs to people who love wth um really want to look at them and who appreciate...
them and the other thing is is the work I had been doing which is producing books, huh? And working on books that I feel like I'm really happy those books are out in the world I can so yeah, I love that. Thank you for sharing that's great anyone else here in the audience? I see. All right. And what? Running stacy going to amusement parks, right? Drinking wine on the couch and watching dance moms, right? And we got a paycheck for that. Someone said, oh, like pinning things to pinterest and drinking hot chocolate. Put instagram snooping. I love it, I love it. What about you? What do you mean? I just love the freedom of not having to have a home base. Uh huh. That would be really interesting to me, and then I guess that goes into getting paid to travel, have experiences and share them with people love it what's happening online, it's interesting people saying I would be a personal health. The system that's from diane h susan maskell. Oh saying I'd learn how to build puppets map panda says if I could get paid to direct my kungfu musical concept, my life would be complete. Okay, you know, come to brooklyn because that would go over like gangbusters kung fu musical everyone would flock to that it's amazing, so it's like that they're sarah see, I'm with you on this one, sarah see, I've got a really a soulmate here, she says I'd love to get paid to watch doctor who wouldn't but I mean, it could have been right. You could be the person who's reviewing doctor who episodes or selling doctor who work? Sure speaking on panels about doctor who it's like uh you know, this is where my brain goes, right? So we're gonna again later on brainstorm these he's crazy and it has to be said just not to go off on a tangent a lot of the people right on doctor who now? What? Watched it as kids and it was their dream and they made it happen. So anything like that is possible. No, I just have a friend who just got hired to be a writer on saturday night live how I know someone that's a writing on saturday night live it's like that just it seems to be such a pipe dream that happens to nobody and then like, no, no, no happening. Um okay, so, uh, big to do anyone else want to share? Yes. Jennifer yeah, if I could get paid to read logs all day love it again. We're not monetizing these right away. Be interesting. It could be like a blogged curator was like a block right there. Yeah, plot recommended. So if I want to read some your vlogs I could come to you a paid killer and categorizes it as a big time right? Amazing you know in a kind of away in the stretch that's what jim's doing today jim is being paid to be our chat room moderate and he's having a great time can't you know it's it's a career right? We don't write he's interacting with all of this on the audience and looking at twitter and all the things that are going on in the social world for this course I mean you as an on air hosts right wanted teo kind of do that but you're right I mean I didn't want to work in broke us and I have worked in a long time it is this is a great extension of what I've been doing it brings it all together yeah you know I realized I didn't ask my signature question this is so insane I forgot about it in the first segment what did you guys want to be when you grow up I want to be debbie gibson and I wanted to have a broadway career what do you guys one of the supreme court justice love it I'm going everyone jenna I said dancer yes every assignment yes lovett stacy singer actress loved jenny sounds like a lot but I want to be the first woman president he told everyone I still do my eyes still possible hilary might beat you to it but you could be the second president really whatever yeah go belly dancer oh, thank you, nurse unnerves the lead it andrea actress actually this actress you are here you are um anyway so it's like a rock and roll photographer cools so cool okay, so I want to give you some tips on expansion right? So how do we expand on this? Especially if you're sitting here you are out there and you're like this was really hard for me these questions were really hard to answer the visualization was really hard already kind of you know talked about some of this stuff but number one come up with your own dream image so flicker creative comments is like a wealth of photographs for you to take or use one of your own photographs and go to pick monkey dot com and it's so easy you don't know photoshopped or do anything crazy the dream image that you saw up here I created in about five minutes and I have no design skills at all and and take your landscape and write the word dream or write a quote that really inspires you and print it out and put it in your cubicle or put it on your work space or make it the cover of this workbook like you could just cover this up if you want I won't be offended take a picture of it make it your phone uh wallpaper or on your computer like keep just remembering how important dreaming us get you back in that space right along journal entry or a short story or a stream of consciousness exercise go back into what it was you saw today. Um you could draw or paint your dream if that's your medium of choice you could do a collage and go through magazines and see what is that that reminds me of what I dreamed of and kind of see what comes up flex like dreaming muscle dream often for those of you with the workbook there is a link teo a fifteen minute long visualization by a former client of mine her name is simone and she actually created it for my bub published book the declaration of you and it helps you get into your name here land so it would be for me to be michelle lands and it helps you go through like what's in and michelle landon what do I see it again? Who am I with? And if you say like I'm going to spend fifteen minutes three times a week on this visualization or you could go do a google search and look for, you know, guided visualizations or meditations um and you spend ten minutes or five minutes just keep flexing that dreaming muscle for let's say a month you're going to get a lot more clearer and see a lot more of what you need okay, I have a I have a four month old daughter at home and I just got all of these books by dallas clayton who is a children's book author but shouldn't be like he's a shel silverstein dr seuss kind of guy on awesome book will take you five minutes to read and it is so inspiring and it is so fantastical and it's all about you know how people there are places in the world where people dream about cars and a new hat and you know these ordinary things and they don't dream about roller skating unicorn's dream about all these crazy things if you take five minutes and read an awesome book it's going to just inspire you keep track of your daydreams oh my goodness so if you find that you're daydreaming especially not especially but if their fear based if you find that you're worrying whatever it is what am I worrying about one of my jamie about I'm looking out the window why one of my thinking of you could keep it in the notes section of your phone you don't even have to keep it and you know you don't have to carry a notebook around with you but if you start just keeping track of your daydreams and I think that there's a part of the workbook that allows you to kind of do that and start noticing what comes to you during the day and where you find yourself floating without that intentional visualization or meditation that's also a really great place to start so is there anything that has come up in the chat or anything here from you guys that relates to dreaming but maybe we didn't talk about her cover yet it's an interesting question that's come in the thick six people voted on so I think it's something we should we should have the same what advice can you offer michelle on how to find and to figure out your passion? Your dreams aren't leading you there and another question's coming up that saying what if when you were younger you didn't even know what you want to be oh how do you in the way develop your dream? Yes that's a really good question I think all of the things that you just said uh covered that piece but I think that that person or those people that resonate with that have to come back here for session three, which is play our theme this play we're talking about playing and that is the root of learning what it is you like to do as a grown up and I you know, we're all women here I work primarily with women and not the gender stereotype, but we just put everyone's needs before our own and there is just not very much time or really any time where we're saying, oh, I'm going to use is this for myself I'm just gonna do something that I enjoy without any sort of productivity attacks without anything else that is important it's just I want to go take a bubble after I want to go to a yoga class, we sweep that under the rug so if you're someone that just doesn't even know yet what they like, you need to start with playing and also not to plug my published book, but I will because it was created for this person it's called the declaration of you I co wrote it with the artist's jessica swift it's full of really fun when school creative exercises that allow you to figure out your own declaration and intentions around different big scary topics in our life. So we talk about money and we talk about intentions and we talk about celebrations and we talk about these things that will allow you through these exercises to get really clear on what that means to you, so that could be a really great resource. Also, if you work through that book, you'll come up with the declaration of you and you'll be able to use that really as a compass and a jumping off point for this sort of work, trusting adding from the studio audience where you stuck, we've had some really wacky ideas here, but they've been great and would visit where you stuck in actually putting them into practice, you know, I think a lot of this stuff that I think about um I'm not really sure is that my passion like I fully understand or if if there's aspects of it that I I don't really like parts of it, it doesn't mean it's not my passion, you know kind of those types of thoughts that go on my mind I love that you brought that up I think sometimes passion is a really, really, really see scary fueled big word for a line of people and there was like an epidemic amongst my clients at one point because I have a question in my quotable questions pocket for my new clients, it says what are you passionate about? What have you been passionate about and a slew of them in a row said like I've never been passionate about any I think they might believe in it as a concept and they see other people be passionate, but they claim they've never felt that for themselves and therefore they feel like they're a lost cause and there's no hope for them and they'll never be able to find work that they love because they don't love anything and it's like this big spiral so instead we need to find a new word for passion we need to find the word of like what do I enjoy uh all of that sort of stuff? What? Why big like but I just haven't interest dan what is it mostly fun for me bring all of that sort of stuff because when it comes to finding work that feels like play it's often just really tough to come up with their own definition of success or satisfaction or play knowing what we like. So especially when we're just starting the process. So what I want to dio is to look outside of ourselves for the next few minutes. Well, you complete an exercise that I like to call role model relay on. If someone here could pass out some index cards to our studio audience members, that would be great. So what you guys were going to dio here is right on the front of an index card who your role models are, uh it could be someone you know. It could be someone and that's a celebrity. It could be someone alive. It could be someone dead. It could be someone for fictional, uh and write their names down on the front of the index card and then flip it over and write. Why you wrote that person down would be great at home. What I would encourage you to do is to get on pinterest and start aboard. You could keep it as a secret board, start a board that is your role model, relay and pin pictures of the person that you are, including and in the description, right, why you're pinning them so here's my role model relay on and feel free to be writing and stuff as I'm talking because we're just going to zip through this which I really like because it's gut reactions people write like do not think too hard when you think of who you want to emulate some part of their life or you admire some part of them uh you'll see what is it specifically about him or her that you admire what do you think is important about what they're doing and what part of their life do you want for yourself? These are all really good jumping off questions to getyou honed in to the why so here are my role models I can't wait to share with you I got really excited and loud for a second uh these are the people that I emulate and some some icon since we couldn't get rights too have some celebrities affair so alex vega who we just almost talk teo is someone who is a role model for me because she is so true and authentic in her business she throws out all of like I need to have a launch plan and I need to be on facebook and and she just does what she wants to do in the moment and puts it out of the offering and if people want it great and if they don't that's okay too and she just is true to her own compass this is jessica swift. This is who I wrote the declaration of us, and I not only admire her as just such a talented artist, you know, actually, they could just write it down in their workbooks. Yeah. That's totally fine. Sorry. Uh, she's not only a talented artist and just a great business lady, but the thing that I I think about is how healthy she is and that's something that not a lot of people know about her she's, a vegetarian forever and she's, like what she puts in and on her body is always going to be the most like healthy natural option. So a lot of times I go into restaurants, and I go, what would jessica swift e I tried to order what I think she would order. This is my mom at my wedding and she's just someone who is just so so supportive and so family focus and so relationship focused that I've always emulated myself in my own values from from her. And now that I am a mom myself it's like more and more apparent everyday, this is jennifer lied she's a creator of the right brain business plan she had, of course, here on creative life back in the day and that's how I first found out about creative live and I went, I want to do that so jennifer li you inspire me every day I just love her business platform I love how many creative people she's helping I really want to emulate that in the day to day this microphone represents the singer pink who I love because she is just unapologetically herself she does not care what you think of her she's going to give a concert that's also a circus and like she's just bad ass I hope I could say badass um this is doug's judy on stuff talking about judge judy is the opposite of me. I think like, in thinking of why I love drugs judy, I think it's because I'm this natural like people pleaser and rock the boat and, you know, and she's just like I'm gonna tell you like it is you're probably not gonna like it, I don't care she doesn't suffer any fools and, uh, I kind of used that sometimes as a business person to kind of like, get my confidence up a little bit. Uh, this represents both ramona quimby and punky brewster who are both fictional characters. Punky brewster was really the character and person that taught me that it is okay. Tio dress the way you want to she's still my fashion idol if you couldn't tell I go what punky brewster where this has grown up uh and and ramona quimby they're the same type of kid right there like really spunky and independent and creative and I love ramona quimby so much that she might we named our our daughter ramona for ramona quimby and hope she grows up with that sense of confidence and creativity and independence and the ukulele represents the additional who I just if I woke up tomorrow and I was oh additional I wouldn't complain I just love everything about zoe deschanel true renaissance soul she's a singer she placed multiple instruments she's a kn actress she looks adorable every second of every day and so she's really key for me so here the questions to get to the specific so I want to hear what are the common threads between your role models on what axe tributes are traits appear more than once so I not only want to hear who are you pinning which would be great but uh for me like I notice the common threads are all women who follow their dreams and talents no matter the odds they're super independent and uber authentic and that mimics my value so this is a window into your own values by looking at the people that you admire anyone anything coming up in the chat absolutely yes we've got some great answers hell yes shelly she's saying jessica valenti is one of my role models she's an amazing writer and knowledgeable about women's issues and intersectionality and I would love to be able to teach women studies or something megan cares saying celine dion has been my idol since I was a six and steph fox is saying my well she's saying it's michelle ward eyes stacy eyes joining us on twitter and she said, I want to be michelle ward when I grow up okay, I'm taken but you could be you could spread the creative career cheer gospel I would love that fresh started saying martha stewart, who built a great dynasty means for classy, elegant products, etcetera she also says, oh, I don't know this person e on the van zandt don't know that one and the katharine hepburn, coco chanel and for style jackie o if your pencil sport isn't secret, then please please please tag it and you're comfortable with this tag your tag each pen for the role nana relay with the dream career life hashtag I'm gonna be looking at it and I'd love to carry like a really big role model relay board on pins arrest so we could all see who inspires us and how we're motivated and maybe find some new role models too I think that would just be super cool what about you guys? Who are you? Who are you writing down and what are the common threads between them andrea powerful women scarlett o'hara ah, and funny women. Lucille ball. I had a boss who was very strong mentor, my mom, who is so friendly, everybody knows her. I mean, she can't walk into a restaurant without somebody coming up to her. I loved your thing about pink because I do also love her. And then I chose a man. I don't think so. You know, I love dennis prager. I love his opinions and his wisdom. Fabulous, fabulous. Anyone else? Common threads, people that you're writing down. Jennifer. I put down maya angelou, huh? Uh, eleanor roosevelt. Uh, and so I think that I'm just, like, really drawn to women who don't care what other people think. The theme. A lot of yahoo are able to speak their truth. They're willing to be on, you know, a national level of speaking their truth and stuff and not be invisible. And they're okay with it. Fabulous, fabulous.

This class was sooo incredibly fun and inspiring. It was wonderful to meet Michelle and interact with her in person. She is warm, kind, approachable and genuinely passionate about helping creatives find a career they can love. Having been raised to believe that the only route to a secure retirement was to find a job with a pension or, at least, a good 401k, this class gave me the courage to believe that I could do work I love and still finance a fabulous life in retirement. It also put things in perspective because it helped me to see that I deserve to be happy as much as anyone else who has carved a successful niche for themselves doing work they feel good about. And, it reminded me that if I try something and discover it isn't the right fit, the worse that can happen is that I go find that job with a pension at that point. So what? Why not me? Amen! xoxo, Jen

My dad used to tell me, "You don't get to do what you love. You just learn to love what you do." For years and years, I've been wandering from job to job wondering why I just wasn't feeling the love, no matter how much I learned to be good at what I do. Although, I tried to resign myself to the idea that work would always be something to dread day in and day out, I couldn't help but day dream about the elusive "perfect" job! I searched for years for tests or counselors who could help give me some direction as to what I would be good at and just before I lost hope, I found this class. I snuck it in during work on my cellphone (shh don't tell lol) and was running back to my desk when I had to be pulled away. It's nice to know someone understands what I've been going through and Michelle's energy is just so positive and motivating that I know that I can make things happen! I watched the free live broadcast but even before the end of day 1 I knew this class was a resource I'll gladly pay for! I would and have recommended this class to many people I know feel the same way I do! Changed my life! We're not made to fit into a mold so why not create your dream career! My review in one word? Amazeballs!

I purchased this course and made sure to finish it before 2015 started. It was so easy to go through the course and I made sure to be diligent in actually doing the activities and homework. I never knew there were other MULTI-PASSIONATE out there like me! I thought I was just a confused human being who needs to figure out her life! Haha! Michelle's energy and passion to help others are so eminent in the way she presents and guides us. I love the setting of Creative Live as well because I felt involved with the studio audience despite having to watch these sessions by myself. :) I learned so much about myself, about how I can incorporate my multiple interests into a unique ball of career perfectly molded for me, by me. All thanks to the help and wisdom of Michelle's experiences and talents. What a great end of 2014 and a great way to start 2015! THIS COURSE IS WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY. :)
