Help! I'm Multi-Passionate!
Oh, I'm old I passionate I'm here to help the multi passionate I am the multi passionate I really work only with the multi passionate um so you are, I would assume, like a really big guest is probably owe one hundred percent of you who were here in this course, our multi passionate and I and I heard about this as, like a thing like a group of people, uh, by reading a book called their innocent soul. Bye, margaret logan scene when I read it back in two thousand seven ish, the subtitle was life designed for people with too many passions to pick just one that resonates through your renaissance soul. Uh, they recently, like reissued the book and the new subtitle is how to make your passions your life a creative and practical guide. So there's a checklist on margaret lowenstein site to determine whether or not you're a renaissance soul we're gonna go through that really quickly keep track of your yeses right? There are ten questions. Keep track of your yeses do you find lots of different th...
ings interesting or worthwhile? When you really understand something, do you lose interest in it? Do you hate the expectation that there's only one answer to what you want? What do you want to be when you grow up? I promise I did not right in and ask her to add that question it was already there do you find it more fun to think of neat ideas than to focus in on the details that make it actually happen? Do you find it almost impossible to answer the question what do you picture yourself doing in five years in the singular do you have a hard time choosing you could find all this stuff on renaissance soles dot com do you have a job that you could do but feel there's something more you haven't been able to identify do you dislike the idea of doing the same thing all your working life you have lots of unfinished projects and yet happily move onto starting something new do you distrust your own decision making ability because you've tried so many things in the past if you have more yeses and noes there were ten questions who had more yes is the nose the renaissance all yes oh the three of you don't raise your hands joanne jasmine nicole yeah yeah, okay even leaves evenly spaced a journey so yes, I love to hear at home tio uh you know especially if you don't if you go this doesn't apply to you because I it's just so close with who we are as creative people and I think finding your authentic career having that be something that's priority for you lend itself to us being renaissance soul so normally being a renaissance soul in twenty fourteen they're a really negative connotations with it right? So here's someone with like all the things exploding out of her head were seen as flaky were seen as having a dd we're seeing is people who don't finish what they start who jump around too much um who don't take things seriously you know, back in the renaissance era you could be a scientist and an artist and a journalist people like that's this smartest person in the history of the world and now not so much but really being multi passionate is a positive thing we've been talking about it all throughout this course we're lifelong learners, we thrive on variety, we're creative, we could juggle lots of virtual balls in the air and were natural entrepreneurs sharers and teacher so many of us end up being pictures because I teaching in some way connected to the other things that we love doing eso really there's a lot of great things about being a multi passionate renaissance soul and my career as I mentioned before but we'll mention again is sneaky right? Because I'm the creative career coach I'm the when I grow up coach it's a nice little bow package but really when I counted how many hats I wear over the course of a day and what I work on in my responsibilities in my business I work fifteen hands I'm a writer, speaker, video maker, video editor, interviewer, teacher, community leader, copywriter, marketer, coach, but keeper, project manager, interviewee, content creator and business consultant, and do all of those things within the semblance of being a creative career coach. So it goes beyond me just coaching my clients, and all of these hats just really naturally lend itself to being an entrepreneurial solo preneurs is a term that's like hot and trendy right now, when you're all one person band, you kind of naturally have to put on a lot of these hats, but I could decide at any time which has to keep on, which had to be take off. I could decide, you know what? I want to make videos anymore, or I want to make them, but I don't want to edit them, and I'm finding someone else to you that I'm dropping this hat or I don't want to run my interview serious, which you could find on when I grow up. Coach dot com slash g I don't want to do that anymore, I'm taking my interview, our hat off for the time being, or forever and so it's easy for me to kind of really hone in on what my passions and interests and projects that I want to work on, both in the short term and the long term, so I have some modern day examples before we get to our amaze balls interview a whore I can't wait for us to talk tio she's going to write it down stacy I has a modern day examples right? So these air people like in my realm of the world who either my my friend leagues I like to call them friends to our colleagues my former clients my friends and I want to show you what they're doing and really kind of the workings behind their business so first we have tracy matthews she's ex tracy matthews dot com she's a jewelry designer and a business teacher so she has like very very very high end I think she only does custom jewelry jobs and then she has a business business consultant not business consulting like online course called flourish and thrive for jewelry designers are aspiring jewelry designers does a marketing piece because she's been very successful herself in her business she's that's a collaborative project she works on it with someone else it it's the two of them together and she's a former yoga teacher I think she told me that she was a yoga teacher for like twelve years while she was still doing this other stuff so if you go to tracy matthews dot com you'll see everything it lives together but you could also go to I think flourish and dr dot com and see that business but everything kind of she's able tio be a teacher was able to be a designer she was able to be a yoga teacher when she wanted to do that she doesn't do it so much anymore. Rosalie gail oh my god she's an artist comedian blogger multiple business owner web developer and speaker and it's interesting because rosalee gail dot com is kind of her all encompassing like this is who I am this is where you could find me but when I showed her this slide it initially only had the one girl and she goes you put all my girls on there and I'm glad that she said that because look at all the places you that right on we had I think it was jenna that has the question yesterday after we wrapped we were in the kitchen hanging on out uh was uh you know what? I well how do I know? Do I have like, two websites? Do I have just one what way too? And I say this is one of those questions that has an answer that we normally don't like because there's no right or wrong way to do it some people have one site, right? Rosalie could have just capture things and umbrella site and you could have gotten them through different links on her site but she decided I'm gonna have five sites bye of sights, eh so it's all up to us to what isn't going to make your head explode and what feels right for the people that you want to be reaching and what you want them to know about you. So rosalie is a really great example of that kelly roberts she's artist published author teacher and possibility arian that's her word that she came up with she's a keli roberts dot com and when you go to her site you know it's just it's very clear she's a mixed media artist who is a licensed her workout for years and years and years gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous work so she's created like her own empire of artistic amaze balls nous and then she also has this other arm where she is a teacher she's a published author and she's enthusing others with possibilities through her block and if you go to kelly roberts dot com she was one of the very, very first bloggers I discovered I remember going, uh being in my cubicle and going through her archives over the course of like two, two days at that point just doing nothing but reading her bloggers vectors I can and she's just suction and inspiration genera about this because I think one thing that gets me stuck and so I'm wondering if it ever gets anybody else stuck is this kind of fear around branding like, am I going to do it wrong? Should I have broken it up into several things you know does it all fit under this umbrella? Oops I started this way and now I want to turn this way okay so this is another question that on for fortunately and unfortunately there's no right or wrong answer right? The on ly wrong answer is to not do anything at all where is the camp? Anything at all that's the on ly wrong answer so what's the worst thing that could happen what happens? Jennifer if you decide you know what? I'm going to put everything under one sight I'm gonna put let's think about the things that we came up with free I'm gonna put my stationery line and my entrepreneurial coaching and my, uh, fun office interior design stuff all on one site what happens if you decide at that point but that's not the right thing for you then you change it and you change and but then then you look like a flake or you're all right e think it's how you spin it too, right? I mean, I think it could be I have a really exciting announcement I realized this site is really cluttered and it might be hard for someone to find what they need so I have decided to go put my stationery line and put my interior design stuff on it's on it's on a separate site I like all sighted the grand I feel absolutely or vice versa, right? So if you have two or three sites that you want to combine, I'm so excited when I realized that you know what? This site is about me and I'm going to show you everything that I do, and here it is, it's gonna all be in one place. I do how I do know people who will have, like, separate sites, but they'll link them together. So I think on tracing matthew site, actually, if you you could find flourish and thrive academy there, if you click on it, it goes to the flourishing thought and thrive academy website, which is different and lives in a different place. And as just like a tracy matthews dot com slash flourish and thrive account, may I don't think that that exists, huh? Who who had their hand raised over here? We have time for another great day. I originally was wondering about that and reach my own conclusion that I'll keep jenna kaufman dot com because I think it's important tab, you're on name or whatever you associate with has your brand, and then because I'm one of the multi passionate once I can add links to it, but I don't. I don't think that my main website of just my name will be very robust like it'll just send you in whatever I'm more passionate about yeah and like the the the one I really want to focus on will be at the top see a fantastic I love that that's great great great planet again its face one when you're new to all this like what's gonna be the easiest thing for you to do it's gonna be the simplest things free to do what's going to give you mo mentum it's probably not launching three different sites like it's probably just okay let's keep it small what's my first offering what is it that I'm focusing on? The next example is gen hewitt she's an illustrator, a printmaker, a surface designer action he would dot com but what's actually not on that website is that she's an hr consultant also and that was like her her day job for a long time and she was able to keep doing it in a freelance capacity. But she's a need a website for it because she has connections and she has a network from that life and so she actually was someone that I did a written interview with for grown up gigs, so if you go to when I grow up coach dot com slash g just search for gen hewitt or search under I for illustrator um, you'll be able teo, to read more about what she says, but, you know, it's really interesting that for her, she enjoys that piece she's happy to get that work and work on it for a you know, from a project by project basis, along with her creative work, it's a really good combination for her. Melissa did woody she's, an artist and singer and songwriter and ukulele player and teacher and writer she's at melissa dunwoody dot com I think actually she's a pretty new podcast host, is, well, she launched a podcast with two other people so, like that's new club collaborative project that she's worked on on dh she is all about living the creative life she's at melissa's in what he dot com I love michael stevenson and the loyalists now we've mentioned craft cation here before, and they're the founders of crack kraft occasion, but they're the cofounders of craft cation, I should say, but they're also makers, teacher speakers, creative business consultants and co founders of a craft conference and craft festival. They just actually they had their sights in a few different places, and literally, I want to say, like a month ago, they launch dear handmade life dot com and that's where everything lives, but they're like they're partners in a few different ways so it's not just them saying oh we're going to launch craft cation together and then we're gonna have our have are separate things they're doing multiple big events together as co creator so it's really interesting if you find someone you work really well with and you love working with them it doesn't have to be a one off project you could actually like you know start really building a business together diana gilliland is a crafter a published author and editor a producer and a teacher she's also a former podcast host podcasting is like you know the new the newest thing I think she's a crafty pod dot com jessica's lives of dogs about her many times she's the co author of the declaration of you with yours truly one of my dear friends she's an illustrator and surface designer and speaker that's been a new thing for her she's a published author and now she's also a teacher she's just launching right now something that she's calling pattern camp to help people create patterns to be surface designer so that's something you're interested in doing then like she has that for u s so she's really going into more of that teaching speaking role lately while still being true to her own artistic projects what she wants to do she's at jessica swift dot com and everything is under that one umbrella that one place tiffany on and I liked it before she's a life business coke she don't take no you know what? Uh she's a teacher and she's a paper shop owner a tiffany han dot com so I think actually she has don't quote me on this but I think she does her sales and stuff through etc but she puts a link on her cell on her coaching site about her shop when there are things in it sometimes her shop is empty and sometimes it's not empty so she just puts it up on our station doesn't have to worry about another site or socking it like when she has something to create it's there and she puts the link up or else she just takes it down when there's nothing there so that's a really great way of doing this also kim worker is a published author and editor, a blogger, a craft or a speaker and a workshop er she just came out with a book called mighty ugly, encouraging creative people to just too ugly things and what it could do for us on and she's amaze balls she's that camel worker dot com as some boys she's a member of my club house which is my community site for soon to be or newish entrepreneurs and she's, an author and teacher and coach and marketing consultant so it's really interesting she published a trilogy in like this science fiction a young adult sort of thing on amazon and it's like it's like blew up it like blew up she's had, you know, thousands and thousands of sales and downloads and she's decided to put that into being a marketing consultant. So everything's here under sm voice dot com carrie cheapen she's a creative life teacher here too she's a best selling author, a teacher, a mentor, a speaker she also has her own community so if you're looking for you know hoodie resonate with where could you find other people that resonate with this person there probably my people you go to carrie cheapen dot com and see if that's the right fit for you but carrie has a lot to offer besides like churning out a book everything he hears so it seems like he's another book coming out she's incredible lauren naff I love laura she's a life leadership coach at life leadership central dot com and a business development consultant too and she co founded a prepared food delivery service in charlotte, north carolina. So it was really interesting I was talking to her like when she was in the thick of all this and when norris charlotte which is the name of the business launched and I was like, how how do you coax your clients and then run this business that she didn't have any experience incident know really anything about she launched it with the friends. It was the two of them working on it together, and she goes, you know, I just scale back on my clients, and I just held them like, I'm not free every day of the week to coax you anymore. I'm free on mondays from nine to twelve, and I'm free on thursdays from three to six, and they've dealt with it and it's been great, and I'm able to just kind of shuffle my time between one and the other. So that's two not only to different sites, but two very different businesses she could still dio emily weapon iq is our leader. She is she is our multi passionate renaissance. So leader she's, a party like dot com, and that is a website for multi passionate people s so it's all about how we can embrace our monster passionate selves and how we could thrive in our careers and our creative projects and really staying true. Teo teo, all of that about ourselves, and she also has a community site, right? Everyone has a community site. She was putty tribe. So she's, a musician in a coach and a writer and a speaker and a designer, and it seems like she's adding something new all the time, and then, you know, putting other things down I know she's only a musician usually like once or twice a year she gets together with her best friend who lives in a separate state than her and they decide that they're going toe put write and produce and record an album over the course of like fourteen days so she puts everything else aside and goes like okay, we're writing this album from june first two june fifteenth we're writing an album and and we're gonna have an album on june fifth and I think that that's amazing so she kind of she structures her business in projects and that is really another way of doing things. Eleanor see whitney she's, a published author, a rock musician and egg educator and an arts administrator at eleanor see whitney dot com and I know she has a day job she really loved so she still has her website up I actually met her speaking at craft cation and she was able to publish her book and do all that stuff but she has a day job but she really enjoys so you could still do these things that you want to be doing, but if being an entrepreneur it doesn't resonate with you um then you could still follow someone like eleanor is lead and get a job that you really doing joy and then that's gonna leave you with more energy and enthusiasm for doing these other thanks adriana will see. Okay, this is interesting because she has, like, two separate art businesses that she decided to separate. So she's a painter and adriana will see dot com. And she does mostly pet commission's. So, like, you sent her a picture of your dog, and she will, she will paint your dog. And and her work is beautiful. And recent she's been doing that for a few years. And recently she started designing ca tubas, which is the jewish marriage certificate, not jewish men. See, I'm jewish and I have one in my house. Certificate isn't the right word. It's like a beautifully designed contract. Thank you. It's. The it's, the contract. So, uh, she decided, you know what? I'm not gonna put this under a jonah. Well, si dot com. I'm not going to put this with my pet fortress portrait's and my other commission work. I'm going to create a new website she actually uses. I forget if this is her married name or her maiden name, but she uses the other name at ink with intent. Dot com. He she keeps it totally separate and that's what was comfortable for her and then, like gen hewitt, she does admin work for people that just no her and know she does good work. Calls her up then such because I like using that part of my brain and then I know I could go to my paintings and it's not so stressful and crazy and I'm giving myself a break so she's doing all those things and she's someone who I had an hour long interview with so if you go to when I grow up coach dot com slash q g look up adriana and uh and you'll be able to get access to the video and the mp three from there kyle abelard she's an empowerment coach and a photographer and my dear friend I mentioned her I think yesterday she's an effervescent stopped me and what I think it is really super interesting is that she's doesn't say like, oh, I'm a portrait photographer I'll take your head shot, she says I'm a photographer, I'm an empowerment photographer, so I know that getting your picture taken and you really seen yourself in this way is how is how you can be empowered in a different lane and just threw coaching? Eso it's really an interesting perspective it's more than just I'm a portrait photographer it's what's coming out you guys were late use hear it and you're pointing at each other with love right is what we're talking about for empowerment absolutely no I had a former client who actually created this unbelievable offering her name is cat houska guzman I hope you could find her online and she created this package of like it's a spa photography so you go to her house and she has a hair and makeup person and there's like you know, just able to be styles and you'd get like champagne and then and then you get your picture taken and then at the end of it you get not only a book but you get it in like a purse that she makes and delivered to you I mean it's like everything in this one package so yeah it's more than just I'm going to go got my photos take and it's like it's an experience it's an experience and you know we can't show their likeness here on creative live because these people are too famous but if you start looking at celebrities and going actually to their wikipedia page, you're going to see that so many of them our renaissance souls and are doing multiple things but it's not highlighted so much kind of pushed under the rug. So justin timberlake, for example love me some justin timberlake he's not only a singer and an actor performer a triple threats answer hot man but he is but he's a venture capitalists and he is a designer so he does that stuff to oprah oh brah she's a tv host she's a media mogul and she's an actress she still like acts in movies so oprah's doing all of those things, drew barrymore is an actress and producer with which a lot of people know, but she's actually a photographer who has a book of her photographs published and it's all things that she's found in life that that have the shape of hearts right? So which is also something I see on instagram all the time, so she took her photographs and published it in a book really interesting. Steve martin is like probably the biggest renaissance old man of all. Wait, I have all of his title titles here, ready? He's, an actor and novelist playwright, a screenwriter, a comedian, a producer and a granny award winning musician. He's. Also, I know just written a musical with edie brickell, which is here in california. I don't know where, but hopefully it comes to broadway so I could see it so like, obviously, yes, there are things that are connected, tio writing that he kind of branched out on he's, a screen writer, he's, a novelist, he's writing a musical. But then he's, also an actor and a media, and then he's also plays a mean banjo and he's gone on tour like very successfully with his banjo music so it's pretty amazing.

This class was sooo incredibly fun and inspiring. It was wonderful to meet Michelle and interact with her in person. She is warm, kind, approachable and genuinely passionate about helping creatives find a career they can love. Having been raised to believe that the only route to a secure retirement was to find a job with a pension or, at least, a good 401k, this class gave me the courage to believe that I could do work I love and still finance a fabulous life in retirement. It also put things in perspective because it helped me to see that I deserve to be happy as much as anyone else who has carved a successful niche for themselves doing work they feel good about. And, it reminded me that if I try something and discover it isn't the right fit, the worse that can happen is that I go find that job with a pension at that point. So what? Why not me? Amen! xoxo, Jen

My dad used to tell me, "You don't get to do what you love. You just learn to love what you do." For years and years, I've been wandering from job to job wondering why I just wasn't feeling the love, no matter how much I learned to be good at what I do. Although, I tried to resign myself to the idea that work would always be something to dread day in and day out, I couldn't help but day dream about the elusive "perfect" job! I searched for years for tests or counselors who could help give me some direction as to what I would be good at and just before I lost hope, I found this class. I snuck it in during work on my cellphone (shh don't tell lol) and was running back to my desk when I had to be pulled away. It's nice to know someone understands what I've been going through and Michelle's energy is just so positive and motivating that I know that I can make things happen! I watched the free live broadcast but even before the end of day 1 I knew this class was a resource I'll gladly pay for! I would and have recommended this class to many people I know feel the same way I do! Changed my life! We're not made to fit into a mold so why not create your dream career! My review in one word? Amazeballs!

I purchased this course and made sure to finish it before 2015 started. It was so easy to go through the course and I made sure to be diligent in actually doing the activities and homework. I never knew there were other MULTI-PASSIONATE out there like me! I thought I was just a confused human being who needs to figure out her life! Haha! Michelle's energy and passion to help others are so eminent in the way she presents and guides us. I love the setting of Creative Live as well because I felt involved with the studio audience despite having to watch these sessions by myself. :) I learned so much about myself, about how I can incorporate my multiple interests into a unique ball of career perfectly molded for me, by me. All thanks to the help and wisdom of Michelle's experiences and talents. What a great end of 2014 and a great way to start 2015! THIS COURSE IS WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY. :)
