Pieces Of Your Career Puzzle

Get out your puzzles get out the blank pieces here in the studio audience get out the markers and add to it right so I love it stacy's writing right away she knows exactly what she wants say for those of you at home have the workbook page forty five has just a whole bunch of blank puzzle pieces for you. Teo, write down not these things were some confusion yesterday these air the things that we've done today so the things that you've taken away from these exercises actually go in the puzzle pieces so for example, personality type you might put your personality type in a puzzle piece or maybe you put one of the career satisfactions that really struck us something important you could put that inside a puzzle piece your truth? What about what about this that we have here? What? What? What was it that might be your new mantra? Or might be something that you know it's part of your compass, part ofyour career puzzle piece your truth, your interests are intriguing interest doesn't seem like it...

was so long ago aren't drinking gin. So what is it that we just gravitate towards in terms of different topics or genres or things you like to talk about our things we like to do that's really still intriguing us now where that some of the things that we defined and the intriguing interests skills to pay the bills are transferable transferable skills we like using so you could put you know whatever it is that struck you there you could put everything in that first box that I'm awesome I'm amaze balls and telling you everything in that box is a really great puzzle piece your career fears we felt the career fear we did it anyway what is it what's the scariest voice what's maybe the quietest voice what is it saying or what do you need to do to counter act that voice that could be a puzzle piece and we went through the dream job posting so what was it that you uncovered in that dream job post jing um that might be new to you or that you might feel is important to you so obviously the workbook thinks it really easy to go back and look at your notes but and I love that you guys were digging and right away I think if you do a gut check you just sort of know what has stuck with you today and what's been important we want to add that teo our puzzle pieces oh stacy what did you write right away I loved it you were quick quick quick like a bunny hop um there's never the way without the cao er and then not or and uh love it's so those were the big pieces for you today so far yeah fantastic shiny what're you writing I'm gonna write this exactly, but um, one of the things that kept coming up was like teaching and working with people and I've taught classes before that didn't go perfectly ah, and I thought, oh, it's because I'm not a good teacher, but kind of I've been thinking about it and thinking, you know, maybe that's it's, not that I'm a bad teacher, maybe it wasn't the perfect situation, and so I want to write your just because it didn't work out perfectly the first time doesn't mean I shouldn't try again or figure out what went wrong and how to do it correctly. I love this, I don't know how you're gonna write that down either on a little I don't need their you'll scream make a smiley face e have a block post from forever ago called the benefits of being a beginner, and I think a lot of the time when were first starting out were so hard on ourselves and we're comparing I'll use this quote again from yesterday were comparing r insides to someone else's outsides were beating us and we're expecting ourselves to just be a guru right away. Um and actually there's like so many benefits to just being at the beginning right is so many benefits, so I think hearing you say like, I've had a few opportunities to teach and go so great like part of that that strikes me is that you sounded like you were a new teacher so you know like like where is this pressure that you have to be perfect the perfect the first time here they'd like that stop that. I know something that could be part of of your manifesto like do not you're not perfect the first time or don't expect perfection the first time around like because you know, it doesn't mean that anything's wrong it just means you space to learn and grow it, eh dana where I was going to say something about like saying it's not a failure it's just a learning experience oh yeah, right no it's true it and then that could lead you to what is it that's gonna make you more comfortable confident in being a teacher because we know that that's a piece of the piece of the puzzle for you is teaching so if you know that you have a ways to go with how you want to teach your what you're teaching or how to build a curriculum there's so many different ways that you could get those skills yeah. Jennifer, what are you running down? You know what I wrote today is I wrote that being analytical is okay uh because I kind of criticized myself for that a lot of things because I kind of I'm fascinated by why things worked the way they do I want to like jump in and like, talk to people about how I think they could say something or whatever and I just analyze everything and I used to be criticized for that a lot how come you have so many questions? Why do you go around about this stuff and it's like you know what that's me and that might help people right? You know yeah embracing it, owning it, owning our troops on the inner personality traits and actually seeing them as a positive thing I love that being analytical okay even as a creative person even as person that works with creative people total asset, huh? You can tell we're going in a circle eyes added desk free for me uh whatever my next thing is to not include a desk um and also to start many things because I like that you know, you made it clear it's okay to have a lot of different passions and, uh, they could be smaller passion projects that maybe one I'll take off for one you'll find you like more, okay, yeah, I'm glad molly reminded me that were just like let's just pick anything like it was just what there's a list of things that you might want to do let's just pick anything and start there if it doesn't work go on to something else, and if it does, amen and hallelujah. But, you know, it doesn't mean that she won't pick up some of the other things on the list either personally or professionally or find a way to tie it into her offerings. Exciting, jen. Um okay. People's. Creative process. Uh, listener, um, I'm not enough, huh? Did we put a line through? I'm not enough. We can. Ok. Good. Let's put a circle in a line like the ghostbusters. No more. I'm not enough. Okay? No, I'm not enough of it. And then, well, I, um I took a different approach for me, and what I did was I wrote the puzzle. I kind of wrote across thin. You have to kind of put it together and use them together like that will help me. I'm not focusing on one. Ah, s o I did kind of like my mantra is with those, um, it's a demonstrator. Excellence, let your love shine. Um, doing what I love can be felt uh ah help through fashion, add color to the world, celebrate diversity, honor tradition and know no limits. What was it when we did the dream job hosting that you were like, oh my god, I just thought about that in a whole new way what was that thought? Is that represented in the puzzle? I think so I think what it was was like, like, piece together I really wanted to be able to help people in dire situations. I I see I hear these stories sorry get specific here, but like, especially in the middle east, like in afghanistan how you know, these women are being brutally hurt uh by people that have drug addiction's problems it's a society thing and they need help and they're being mutilated in different ways and just being able to like, take those port those victims, those people and empower them to still find ways to feel beautiful like there's a wheelchair victim that I saw recently she lost all of her limbs and her dream was to do a fashion shoot and somebody she she worked with all the right people and they finally got a wheelchair on a runway and it was just like spreading those stories of hope and beauty and redefining what beauty kind of means was it helped me kind of bring that concept of helping on that global scale and doing what I love on a smaller scale, which is like styling and fashion and color and fun and that's what made me think of your charity idea of, like kinda helping there too? So it's a beautiful story thank you for sharing that on dh yeah, yeah, a lot of new viewers today wait, how long you do? Absolutely we got a lot of people who we don't have very good memories like me. So can we just explain about the puzzle pieces for the online audience? They couldn't really get absolutely so so this is like a semi literal way. Tio collector takeaways from the day so so however long you've been here if you were here yes stirred a you already have puzzle pieces to build on like our studio audience has if you just got here at the beginning of the segment, then there's going to be less but this is basically like an each puzzle piece you're putting down. The thing that is sticking with you that, you know is an important part of foundational part of your dream career. You might not know what the dream career is yet, but you know that these are the puzzle pieces that make it up. So you know what I have here is just these air the things that we worked on today, so you remember oh, what did I what did I take away from the dream job posting anything really strike me as super important um what were the career fears said I did I come up with any vampire voice rebuttal or did I have ah lightbulb moment of a new way of looking at things that I want to make sure to put on my puzzle piece skills interests your truth personality type so that's really what we're doing it's like a more visual way I just I get to what's important to us because they know when we're covering three to four months of work that I do with my clients and a three day period so I don't want us to leave at the end of every session with our head just like oh my gosh I have so many thoughts and there's so many things but I can't get them down and they're all in my workbook but they're all kind of spread out so this is a way to just condense like these are my important takeaways thank you I hope that that absolutely terrifying showed up great joanne uh mine is it's ok to do it slash value it even if it comes easy oh even if it comes easy I love that I want to say especially if it comes easy oh no family leave it in your words what like I'm I'm an editor at e that love that is there anything else you want for today? No okay great great nicole uh well something already kind of said earlier but I'm just realizing that there are a lot of things that I enjoy on dh, that there is one thing that interests me that encompasses lots of little things, um and then learning my truth, something I need to work on it so glad I'm so glad and I'd love to you in the chat of their takeaways, and there was some confusion with the puzzle pieces, but you know what? I really the takeaways of this session or of the segment or whatever you've been able to tear the best one so far has bean I'm going to put my vampire in a box that's where but that's what? I'm hired yeah in a coffin even better nail it, nail it shut! Don't open it good! I love that that's! Fantastic great! Anything else come really clear so we get some clarity today around things. Was it like super scary talking about the thing that you your thinking off in terms of a career? It's exciting, it's exciting? I'm curious and I love to ask this question online. Also, how many of you guys in the career that we talked about earlier is like this is what's exciting me now this is what I think I want to just start exploring how many of you came into this session this course with that idea already no, no, jen. Yeah, like, did you come into the chorus? Feel like you dig jennifer, but I have been doing this work just a few week. Uh, but still, I mean, there is no right or wrong answer. It's just really interesting. So, like, you had a bit of that when I signed up ohio. And then I felt like I need to start thinking about it, huh? Ike could be prepared. Love that. See and that's like the brilliance of, you know, coaching, signing up for work like this. You you have that you have that accountability and deadline. Like I know I have until september eleventh. Tio. Go do this thing. And I want this up by then. Yeah, I feel like whatever I have started or brain stormed in the past. I only did to the extent that I was capable at that time. But working through all of these things and like a gnashing all of the stuff I did not know about myself has led teo either expanded ideas or no one's. Completely fantastic. Oh, my gosh. Is that how it is that kind of the what? Everyone. Feeling like these new ideas coming from older values or, um things that we know building on things that we are just discovering and exploring on that because it's sometimes you're so stuck you're trapped in your little universe of either what you work in now or what you've known to work in and just kind of getting teo openly talk about potential ideas it expands the horizon a lot more it just really grows the scope of what possible yeah jennifer and also that you are such a different kind of career coach uh, you know, I love that because it's kind of a safe space to talk about and you like, ridiculous idea, right? Yeah it's like you're so often taught that you definitely need to do something a traditional and be what you're good, you need to stick with what you're good at in this very traditional way and if you say you want to be a balloon artist than you're very kooky and you need to come back teo therapy first yeah, right come back if there's something wrong with you? Yeah, yeah, that is not my style I'm jenny I know you wanted to say something so I was going to say that because I know that what I'm talking about now is just going to be a small piece of everything I do because I do like what I do now but I like having that freedom, teo, explore something that would just be a piece, because I don't think I would have given myself that permission before because you think, you know, you need to focus on one thing and get it done and make your money and stuff like that. So, you know, this is giving me that chance to explore something that I really wouldn't have before and didn't know, like, even if it's just a little bit that's okay? I'm glad that realization, joe, and I think you got it, I came knowing that photography is something I love and would like to do more of andi, I was feeling a little funny about, well, I really like the work I did, and I don't want to completely change my career, but I realized earlier today I wrote a puzzle piece of appreciate what doesn't need to change it goes so well with the other puzzle piece, right appreciate what doesn't need to change, like part of the serenity prayer of, you know, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference have, but I always feel like you also need and something my friend shared with a you know, of appreciating what doesn't need to change. All right, wilbon addition and you know what that section great way to bring up the question that was asked before like what what if I can't pick up my life tomorrow and totally change it well welcome to being grown up but you know if you start by asking that question what doesn't have to change change what could just stay the same like and be happy will be happy with it right what do I want I I like when I tell clients a lot like let's make a list let's make a keep doing stop doing start doing list and sometimes it's a really great place tio start and you won't be able to do all the things on the letters that once but you're picking I'm gonna start I'm going to stop saying yes to this I'm going to stop going to this class I'm going to stop talking to this friend who makes me feel that like those sorts of things and then okay what do I want to start doing what we want to keep doing that's a way to kind of ease yourself and what just so great someone else called you have something to say okay jen wait did you have something to save one of your handwriting? Yeah, I would just kind of build off what everyone that it's just the idea of a comfortable place to kind of talk about the creative side because I've a lot of things that I have ever looked out it was like how can I make money from it? I set aside so many things because I'm like there's just no way and the money has always been such a huge part so to kind of explore things that are just more creative never allowed myself to be that way it's always been more like dry and more career oriented and let the creative side kind of be something that only close people see so to kind of open it up just a little bit, you know and get more comfortable if really really owe and scary very starting way citing new way fantastic and jen really similar to that that you know usually it's about okay, how can I make some money and it's not necessarily about opening up that creative side but for me it's really about the fact that you need to check recheck your values merely because when life changes your values shift and then what's important in your work now is different than what it wass a couple years ago absolutely thank you and the homework spend thirty minutes playing thirty minutes. This is like it's funny cause I say like this isn't hard homework but sometimes it's really hard for some people so it's not about doing anything productive uh don't try to make it productive whatever pops into your head that sounds fun um, that is just for you that you've been wanting to dio. I took a bath yesterday until I realized that sandwich. Just go ahead and drought. And so my bath is a little shallow, like, uh, this girl has a bureau, but I haven't done that in, like, three months. And I went that I'm having this meat time for me, that's, that's, part of playing for me, uh, if you're really at a loss as to what to do, then, um, tap into what you have to do, is a kid and go to the dollar store and go to target and buy yourself jax. Or a coloring book or a crossword puzzle, or anything that you love doing as a kid.

This class was sooo incredibly fun and inspiring. It was wonderful to meet Michelle and interact with her in person. She is warm, kind, approachable and genuinely passionate about helping creatives find a career they can love. Having been raised to believe that the only route to a secure retirement was to find a job with a pension or, at least, a good 401k, this class gave me the courage to believe that I could do work I love and still finance a fabulous life in retirement. It also put things in perspective because it helped me to see that I deserve to be happy as much as anyone else who has carved a successful niche for themselves doing work they feel good about. And, it reminded me that if I try something and discover it isn't the right fit, the worse that can happen is that I go find that job with a pension at that point. So what? Why not me? Amen! xoxo, Jen

My dad used to tell me, "You don't get to do what you love. You just learn to love what you do." For years and years, I've been wandering from job to job wondering why I just wasn't feeling the love, no matter how much I learned to be good at what I do. Although, I tried to resign myself to the idea that work would always be something to dread day in and day out, I couldn't help but day dream about the elusive "perfect" job! I searched for years for tests or counselors who could help give me some direction as to what I would be good at and just before I lost hope, I found this class. I snuck it in during work on my cellphone (shh don't tell lol) and was running back to my desk when I had to be pulled away. It's nice to know someone understands what I've been going through and Michelle's energy is just so positive and motivating that I know that I can make things happen! I watched the free live broadcast but even before the end of day 1 I knew this class was a resource I'll gladly pay for! I would and have recommended this class to many people I know feel the same way I do! Changed my life! We're not made to fit into a mold so why not create your dream career! My review in one word? Amazeballs!

I purchased this course and made sure to finish it before 2015 started. It was so easy to go through the course and I made sure to be diligent in actually doing the activities and homework. I never knew there were other MULTI-PASSIONATE out there like me! I thought I was just a confused human being who needs to figure out her life! Haha! Michelle's energy and passion to help others are so eminent in the way she presents and guides us. I love the setting of Creative Live as well because I felt involved with the studio audience despite having to watch these sessions by myself. :) I learned so much about myself, about how I can incorporate my multiple interests into a unique ball of career perfectly molded for me, by me. All thanks to the help and wisdom of Michelle's experiences and talents. What a great end of 2014 and a great way to start 2015! THIS COURSE IS WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY. :)
