Intriguing Interests
We're moving on to the next exercise just called intriguing interests, and this is all about this things that you enjoy that could then translate into a field that you enjoy working in. So, you know, it's interesting, I've had a lot of clients where we've realized their environment and the field that they're working in the people they're working with is more important to them, actually than their day to day responsibilities in their job. It's super interesting. So sometimes this could be the most important sort of puzzle piece that we find on dh this ill just all determine the field that you would be interested in working in. So we want to write down, uh, pig sixty seven in your workbook we want to write down the classes that you've taken that you enjoyed again. We're focusing on the things that you've enjoyed on we're focusing on the things that you've done and enjoyed throughout your life, so it doesn't have to be this is what it's all about for me right now, here, the classes that t...
hat you loved back in school or maybe just you took it out of a traditional school apps, that session of your hobbies, that you've had things that you love and again as a multi. Passionate renaissance soul type of person you might have had a lot of different hobbies that you've picked up and put down the ones that really made an impact on you or that you felt that state of flow or that you would say this is an intriguing interest this is something that I keep thinking about her I know uh made me really happy when I was doing it that's what we want to write down genres genres of like books he read or movies you see or the magazines that you buy thie sections of the paper that you read those are all real insights into the things that we're interested in talking points I mentioned yesterday with a former client of mine hallie gray out of alban succeed dot com like you cannot sit down with hallie and not talk about marketing like it's just impossible so you know, if you know that oh my god, I'm sitting down with someone and eventually the conversations of leading here or I really enjoy it when I have a conversation about this then that's a really great a place to start an intriguing interests social media subject. So for those of you at home and those of you with the workbook, I have specific links that will bring you to different websites and I don't remember the girls off hand that'll bring in a different websites it actually like analyze your twitter accounts and your facebook accounts and it kind of tells you what you're posting about actually just learned that you could go to facebook and download your activity. I haven't done it yet, I'm scared, but I think like if you just go to wherever you are hanging out online interest, what do your boards about on pence arrest when you're on facebook, what are you sharing when you're on twitter? What are you talking about? You know? And it might team just like everything we do, I don't want to censor ourselves, we don't want to say I'm only mentioning the things that I think I can make as careers if you just share like cat videos all day long that's what you love looking at or you love romantic comedy movies and you read history books like those all kind of go on here so here's mine here's my intriguing interest so yoga is something that I've done on and off now it's off it was on for a while for a few years I did it this morning, though I was proud of myself doing what you love is obviously what I want to talk about to everyone all day long and help them with everything seeing shows and concerts write something really general, I guess really enjoy being and like a live theater upsetting uh, performing is an interest of mine real estate uh, part of the twenty jobs that I had in seven years was a real estate agent in new york city and the first section of the paper that I read when I get the sunday new york times very cultured and sophisticated you guys when I get it delivered is the real estate section, which is interesting because arts and leisure comes the same day, but yet I want to look real estate. Uh, kickboxing was something that I did a few years ago. I had my own boxing gloves, and I have my wraps and I like, I'm thinking about getting back into it, but that was a big interest of mine for a while musical theater doing it, seeing it if it's good if it's bad, I want to just love musical theater, just new york city in general like just I love being a resident of brooklyn. I love the city and it's just I want to know everything about what's going on there. Fiction books. I've been reading fiction books since I was so little I was the nerdy kid like in the car with the books in a dinner with the books, and I don't get to read the books that I want to read so much anymore, but when I do it's like suction street singing ukulele comedy song writing that's a new thing of mine so here is like everything that I came up with, so I want to hear what you guys are right and down booked right now. Um, no, I'm actually reading a non fiction book and I try to switch on and off between like, if I read a business, see nonfiction book, then I'll read a fiction book is like a treat I'm reading a fantastic book called playing big by terrorist sofia more everyone needs to get this book, it complements us work so well, it's about stepping into our own power and dreams and like not hiding away and shite and shying away and saying someone else is going to fix that problem or someone else deserves that job or someone else will reach that success. It won't be me s o it's, it's and it's interesting that I'm reading it while I'm doing this, which to me feels like a very big thing in my life. So that's what I'm reading now cool yeah plug for tara's book the studio was still thinking about a comedy gumball machine is saying she's back actually music favorite groups, animals photography flowers, mostly art comedy and writing wonderful on demand as if they're saying I enjoyed writing for an online magazine blogging she was giving relationship advice watching theater, interior design traveling on I love took taking photography, sculpture and drawing class is a lot of things in there and cayenne is saying cooking photography videography and my main passion love it fantastic sea! And so I heard that word passion right and that's going to sit really well for some people and other people just it's not about things that your badge and it about if that's not a word that you resonate with like you could really sit it's just these are the things that you have enjoyed throughout your life that made an impact on you in some way I'm not doing all of these things are obviously, uh now that I have this baby seeing shows and concerts is no, I haven't so much anymore um, kickboxing I haven't done in years and years and years, I don't read as many books as I I want teo, my husband's improv comedy every every week um, ever since we had the baby, I haven't been able to go to his comedy shows, so you know, I haven't written a song in a while, but there was a time that I was just a writing songs all over the place, so it doesn't have to be like a lot of the other exercises I say it's in the here and now it's what's important to you right now this isn't this is more of a snapshot of what's been important to you or what's been interesting to you throughout your life mmm yes jasmine tell us they see you nodding yeah okay so I have some similar ones yoga dog time is very important to me makeup artistry was makeup artist for awhile I loved it painting designing video games going to tropical places cooking connecting with people snowboarding playing music kiteboarding stand up paddleboarding speaking farsi and playing the violin some days the amaze balls you were sexy classic renaissance soul I love it so so varied and interesting but like just makes up who you are thank you. Yes, absolutely. Who else has written some good stuff down the stacy um put making candles I love hd a tv so all the homes that graham could I tell it could I tell you like a not so secret secret? Um I was on renovation realities on the d I y network me and my husband a few years ago it was our favorite renovation. So it was our favorite reality show and we have got a connection to someone who was on it and she submitted us for the audition and so we've been on the d I y network it was on tv once you could see us destroying our kitchen and having it go terribly and school having us be weirdos well it's funny because we decided because we're not smart people that like we're going to go on the show where no one helps you that's the whole premise of the show is that like let's take schmoes who were going to renovate their houses or apartments that don't have any experience and they're going to do with themselves and tape them that's gonna be hilarious and they're right which is why it was our favorite show so we did all the work ourselves let's just say it was supposed to take three days and it took three weeks that are kitchen looks pretty nice and it was fun my husband will never do it again I had a great time kind of how it went sorry right now one of the reasons I love I love learning about people so I live like bio pics any movie that comes out but I don't even care who it is like I'll go see it just cause I like watching that mental health is an important thing to me the interest meet social media I'm kind of addicted to just even not even posting stuff sometimes just being on there um accessories I love accessories um what's concerts, music really important the city of oakland that's where I was born and raised and lived there so everything like I love learning about events that uneven l took place and free stuff so yeah great love it okay, so now what we're going to do with this is we're goingto define what these things mean, tess because, you know, just like our values we could attach ourselves to a word but it's going to mean different things to different people, so for example, you could write beauty and for, you know, stacy beauty means makeup, and for jenny, beauty means like sepia tone photographs, you know, if someone could write hits story into them, it means presidents and someone else it means war's nature might mean hiking to one person and bird watching to another, so you get the point, so in your workbook we want to take the interest that resonate with you right now, right now, so we're going back to the here and now, um, in my from my example, I would not include yoga, I would not include real estate, I wouldn't include kickboxing probably wouldn't include e probably include the other stuff all seems kind of important to me, maybe not singing, but like performing kind of, uh for me but it's all about now how you define these things that interest you now and I'm skipping ahead of myself s o there's space for this in the workbook and we want to hear this in the chat tell us you're intriguing interest and your definition of the intriguing interest e I see you guys writing in the audience is just so great, stacy, since we just spoke with you about your interest in putting you on the spot. Thank you for being a team player. Uh, what would be what are the things that translate tio what interests you now? And what do they mean to you? I think over, like, fashion in style over all I'm interested in it. I'm intrigued by and what it means to me is not just the fashion but the style piece, uh, that the trans kind of come and go, but like people who have style are kind of iconic style to get those people in, uh, in tristan. So love that anything else that you feel is going to kind of translate from the list that you had to what interested and treats you now? No. Okay, think on it. We'll think on it, come back to me. Yeah. And, you know, this is something just like pretty much everything we talked about. This is something that you could just kind of keep in the back of your head, and as you go through your day to day and you have one eye on this stuff, you're going to notice. Oh, this is what I'm posting about, uh, you know, we could ask our friends, what do I talk about with you? A lot like, what do you always notice me saying or what do you notice that I'm posting again? Other people could have really good, you know, perspective and insight as to this stuff for us. Um, so just, you know, go out with one eye open and see what kind of books you gravitate towards and, uh, what you're reading and what you're sharing and what you want to be talking about. Yes, jen, you know, when you say that I noticed so well, so I mean, I meditate, so I'm always interested in, like, getting quiet and the medicine meditation process and, like, observing, but then also, I'm really interested in the creative process, like I'm always online reading blog's about different people's creative processes, and it doesn't matter what industry they're in, I'm kind of fascinated how people come up with their own stuff that we're talking about now, and I'm always reading whether it's an entrepreneur or like a design person like there are watching their video about talking about their creative process like chase jarvis does great interviews he had around people's creative process, I love that I never really thought about that before that such and again, the fact that it's creative process I think most people would assume like oh it's, your creative process, but we were actually talking about it other people's creative process they're so curious about that you want to learn more about it and that's just an intriguing interest of yours and what creative process means to you? Yeah, great, but we're hearing in the chat interesting marry anto is saying their primary interested is traveling and traveling alone because that makes them feel strong. Confident that mad panda is saying I love fitness and volleyball, it means friendly competition while improving my health and my wellness it's interesting, and amanda elizabeth says, I'm blocking through blogging I'm helping people and having my own voice in interior design in creating beautiful and functional spaces and hast king princess that's a new view we haven't heard from her yet today, she's saying healthy eating and eating to help eating to keep your skin looking good on she's also interns interested in branding and self promotion fantastic love it. Okay, so now since there is a method to my madness, we're gonna, um we're gonna we're gonna kind of bring us all together, right? So how did these intriguing interests and definitions translate into the type of work in a general sense that you'd be passionate about doing so, uh, jen let's put you on the spot again since we just heard from you so is there anything about the creative process that you could see translating and to the type of work that you want to be doing? I mean right off like I would love teo either interview or write about people who have who are really doing different interesting things and what their creative processes fantastical they got their fantastic and that could be a business site money making idea or it could be a personal blogging it could be a blogging thing it could be a podcast it could be a video thing and be a a book that you put on amazon it could be I believe in a lot of different form hats or it could be a book that you print or a book that you submit to be published I mean that it's that's great that's a really great transition anyone else see what they've written genesis be giving me a face and I don't know if it's a good face or of that face well because I think at this point I'm like what does this song mean, huh? Like I have more info but it's not conclusive that way are in the middle of nowhere obsession to our session to we still have half we haven't even done half of what we're doing still trying to stay here thank you, thank you but I realized with photography I don't feel like a professional, but at the same time, I think I have something unique because I love capturing the moment forever. You can look at a photo and it brings you back to that time or if you weren't there shows you something something you missed. Um, I take photos of a lot of food. Um, I think it's challenging so chuck that? And I think I'm more interested in it because it's visual learning so much reading or just listening, but that's, how I learned so that's, how I find it easier to share and teach people fabulous. So how could that translate in the general sense to the type of things that you want to be working on? And again notice that I bolted the word could with my voice, how could it be not? How are you going, teo? Or how will this, how could we're in the possibility mode? Still exploration? Well, I've started a twitter were just post photos of the area, huh? So I'm starting to do that, but I don't know really what that could be down the line, because it's not like the photos that I see when I go to the tourist shop, huh it's different, so, um I don't know think you know, but I love that you started this process and I saw that twitter account and I only kind of knew that it was you because it was the same tweet that you had written was like speak jonas from twitter account so as you do it, you could keep an eye on what are the commonalities of these photos? What like why am I posting that? What leads me to saying this is an important moment that I want to capture and by doing it, you'll probably be able to find your way. Tio, what is this? What could this be what I want this to be on dh you know what? I want to build this up, tio? Oh, yes, mr cole, I'd like a comment reassure um, when I first came like, I was kind of, I didn't really have that passion and then kind of like what you said yesterday was like, well, just like your big like, uh um and I've just, like realized that there is a lot of stuff that I really like and I'm like well, like, I do have passion and things so they actually see it on paper and then see the things tie together, like, okay, so like there's, like before things that I like a lot that could become something so thank you, thank you, just really awesome, thank you, thank you for giving me like my fifth chill today, full body had a lot of that eyes there, anything going chap with totally traveling artisan saying their passions are creative life. Thank you didn't didn't say that. Machine embroidery, chalk paint, light room, photo shop and core power yoga. Oh, cool, really connects them on. You've obviously inspired somebody, michelle, because I forgive me. I think it's minke san is saying piano, guitar and drums, they're going to get a set of drums for han drumming the congress, the bank, kong bongo's, I think you mean, but they're now flirting with learning ukulele. Yeah, which I noticed was a green ukulele on your caption. It wass my designer, I didn't catch that wasn't no it's pink when I get pink, uh, fantastic.

This class was sooo incredibly fun and inspiring. It was wonderful to meet Michelle and interact with her in person. She is warm, kind, approachable and genuinely passionate about helping creatives find a career they can love. Having been raised to believe that the only route to a secure retirement was to find a job with a pension or, at least, a good 401k, this class gave me the courage to believe that I could do work I love and still finance a fabulous life in retirement. It also put things in perspective because it helped me to see that I deserve to be happy as much as anyone else who has carved a successful niche for themselves doing work they feel good about. And, it reminded me that if I try something and discover it isn't the right fit, the worse that can happen is that I go find that job with a pension at that point. So what? Why not me? Amen! xoxo, Jen

My dad used to tell me, "You don't get to do what you love. You just learn to love what you do." For years and years, I've been wandering from job to job wondering why I just wasn't feeling the love, no matter how much I learned to be good at what I do. Although, I tried to resign myself to the idea that work would always be something to dread day in and day out, I couldn't help but day dream about the elusive "perfect" job! I searched for years for tests or counselors who could help give me some direction as to what I would be good at and just before I lost hope, I found this class. I snuck it in during work on my cellphone (shh don't tell lol) and was running back to my desk when I had to be pulled away. It's nice to know someone understands what I've been going through and Michelle's energy is just so positive and motivating that I know that I can make things happen! I watched the free live broadcast but even before the end of day 1 I knew this class was a resource I'll gladly pay for! I would and have recommended this class to many people I know feel the same way I do! Changed my life! We're not made to fit into a mold so why not create your dream career! My review in one word? Amazeballs!

I purchased this course and made sure to finish it before 2015 started. It was so easy to go through the course and I made sure to be diligent in actually doing the activities and homework. I never knew there were other MULTI-PASSIONATE out there like me! I thought I was just a confused human being who needs to figure out her life! Haha! Michelle's energy and passion to help others are so eminent in the way she presents and guides us. I love the setting of Creative Live as well because I felt involved with the studio audience despite having to watch these sessions by myself. :) I learned so much about myself, about how I can incorporate my multiple interests into a unique ball of career perfectly molded for me, by me. All thanks to the help and wisdom of Michelle's experiences and talents. What a great end of 2014 and a great way to start 2015! THIS COURSE IS WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY. :)
