Detail Shots with the Bride

When we saw Dani in these pictures, she was micromanaging everything because the girl did everything herself. So she was telling this and you will not, because she's a very fun girl but at her wedding, she was so serious. She was organizing it, she was telling off grandma, she was telling off grandpa, mom and everyone, everyone was organized. So she was fully not there. She didn't enjoy her wedding as much as she should, you know? So but still, I managed to grab as much as possible the moments that are very happening. I'm not a photojournalist style of photographer, I look for the beautiful moments but I'm not also set her up. I'm not gonna say Dani, stand there and don't move. Yeah, I will direct her a little bit if she's in the wrong angle or this or that but I let things happen. The dress was there, I didn't put it there and she was trying to fix and did you see a moment, oh she saw something wrong on the dress? That's fine with me. Everything needs to be happening during the day. S...

o I'm there, I'm close, but not too much interruption. Okay, let's go. Okay lower, it has to be lower. The way you were holding, oh yeah, that's nice. That's it, that's it. Can we maybe? That's it. Slide it towards this way. That's it, beautiful. Perfect Dani. Just one more. Okay can you hold it in front of your face? Just like that. That's it, that's it. And your eyes, perfect. Girls, do you mind coming on this side for a minute? No, no they're fine. Give me an invitation. Yeah, invitation, that's it. Yeah, that's better. Dani, reflection, tilt it slightly, that's it. That's it, stay there. Okay, perfect. Beautiful. Yeah, that's it, that's it. Thank you. (speaking in Spanish) Let's see. Yeah, that's better. Straighten up a little bit there. Very nice. Beautiful. Okay, hold on, hold on. Come over here, I don't want you to get her, that's it. Okay, that's it, that's it, gorgeous. Move closer to the flow. (girls laughing) Did you just spray it on your chin? That was the best. Don't get the face. You see, I'm there, but I'm letting her do what she needs to do but do you see, I'm also micromanaging. I needed the background, I needed the perfect background so I had to move her to so I could get a nice plain background, the girls not in the background. Then to the details, I love, I said this before, I love to do details and I do a lot of details. Anything that she's organized for herself, I will take because this will create a page. When we do the album, we will see all those other pictures.

I am SO grateful to CreativeLive as well as Yervant for taking the time to put on this class. So many times while sitting in this class I thought to myself "what have I been thinking?!" I have so much to learn! I loved hearing about Yervant's process for creating images, but what inspired me even more was his advice on how to view, and treat yourself as a professional. I completely agree when he said photographers are creative but we are "terrible business people." But I aim to change this in my business from this point forward, thanks to this class! Yervant's advice on how to value, protect, and sell your art is priceless. I have always valued printing and creating products clients can hold, but I don't think I understood the real emotional value in it until this class. When he pulls those images we just watched him create for the last two days, off of that printer, and they are there before our eyes, I had an emotional reaction to it. I want my clients to experience the same, so I must value it and create opportunities to educate my clients. Thanks for the kick in the pants that we all needed Yervant! And I hope this will not be the last time I get to experience your education in my life. I said this many times to other students during the class, but I will say it again here, I want to carry a mini Yervant with me every where I go! Thank you Creative Live and thank you Yervant!

Yervant’s ardent love for wedding photography and capturing his brides in their best light is unquestionable. His love for this photography community and his regard for our respect in the world hierarchy is without reservation. Yervant’s willingness to share his knowledge and skill for all these things to come together is beyond generous. These are some of the things that help Yervant to effortlessly stand out as a photography master and this is exactly what this class is about… plain and simple.
